Training with Lisa has turned out to be one of the best health and fitness investments I have ever made. Through commitment and hard work, you will see the results you want. Lisa is the person to help you stay motivated and encourage you along the way. Lisa has helped me train for running events, motivating me to be faster and stronger– all without injury. When my work brings me out of town, she emails me tailored workouts so that I can stay on track. She puts a lot of thought and thoroughness into her workouts and is always striving to stay current with the latest fitness techniques. Everyone is looking for something different when it comes to working out, but we all have a common goal: to have a Better Body!

At the insistence of my beloved, I begrudgingly started working out with Lisa two years ago. My previous exercise régime consisted of little more than good intentions and 12 ounce curls. During the first session Lisa asked about my fitness goals… I couldn’t answer. How do you explain to a complete stranger that you are approaching middle age, you haven’t done a damn thing to keep your body in any kind of shape, and maybe you are a little afraid that you are too late?
Fortunately Lisa is some kind of magical mind reader. She was able to assess my current condition and tailored workouts to improve my strength from head to toe. Over the last two years she has designed progressively more challenging workouts so that I am now in the best shape of my life. I’m doing physical activities that I would have never imagined possible just a couple years ago.
Lisa possesses a calm positive energy that inspires you to push yourself. You aren’t getting a drill sergeant or high pitch squealing cheerleader, you are working with an intuitive, knowledgeable trainer who knows how to motivate a variety of personalities.
I cannot say enough good things about my experience with Better Body. I’ve recommended her to all my friends and now I’m recommending her to you. I’ve gone from a body built for comfort to one that is built for speed. Best of all, I have a fitness partner who will always push me to be better.

Lisa is the Sh*T!!! I recommend her for men and women, but ladies if you’re looking for results where we want/​need them, Lisa will get it done. But get ready to sweat cause she does not play and she stays on top of you if you don’t show up (which I love). Better Body Oakland hosts great bootcamp classes and amazing individual training sessions. I highly recommend Lisa if you are looking to get healthy and reach your fitness goals. She is always motivating me to strive for my highest potential and she is very knowlegeable about form and function.
I’ve only participated in the morning bootcamps and let me tell you… it is a struggle waking up, but Lisa and her Better Body team provide such a comfortable and motivating environment, that I force myself to go. Working out with her is never dull and she does her best to switch up our workouts. There are also people who come from the city to attend her classes and that says something. I highly recomment Better Body; you won’t be disappointed.

Joining Better Body is the best decision I have ever made for my health. Over the last several months of working out at Better Body, I am on my way to the best shape I have ever been in and I am healthier and happier because of Lisa’s continuous encouragement and motivation. She genuinely cares for and develops friendships with her clients, our fitness goals become her own and she is committed to achieving those goals with us. Her workouts are fun, challenging, and constantly changing so there’s never an opportunity to get bored– it’s always something new! Everything from weight training, outdoor activity, TRX, kettle bells, boxing, bootcamps, weekend workouts, one on one training, there is so much variety. Additionally, the community of people who work out with Lisa are wonderful, a huge support system of individuals all working together to become healthier, always encouraging and pushing each other during workouts and even outside of the gym’s doors. She provides a truly unique workout experience where you feel cared for and motivated. The results I’m seeing are great and I’m looking forward to getting better, and stronger with Lisa!

I started bootcamp this week with Lisa and a fabulous group of people. Lisa is amazing, she pushes you, but there are no judgments and just lots of encouragement to push yourself harder. I feel sore in all the right ways and places, but no back issues or worrisome paid– all muscle build. The group is eclectic and no snobbery or judgment there either– everyone is so welcoming, helpful, and encouraging. I can’t wait to go back on Monday!

I am absolutely addicted! I recently started training with Lisa in January and I am already seeing results I’m officially hooked! she offers a variety of personal training as well as the boot camp which is what I’ve been attending. Her boot camp is m-​w-​f at 630 am and it is so worth it. I don’t even need an alarm to wake up. Lasting only a hour a day, Lisa incorporates warm ups and stretching as we’ll and indoor outdoor activity, obstacle courses, light weight training, drills as well as TRX. I also love love love her play list it always keeps me going. Lisa will keep you so motivated and she does what she loves! Give her a try you won’t regret it!

I just started boot camp and have signed up for more. Lisa is an amazing trainer that motivates you. I am not a morning person but her classes make me want to get up. After class you feel good and energized. I have only been going for a month, I feel stronger than before. Also you can tell Lisa really cares about her clients– she also changes workouts often so you don’t get bored. I would recommend better body to anyone.

Love this place. I see Lisa for personal training, she is fantastic. If you’re looking for someone to kick your ass and motivate you to do better without the intimidation and misplaced cockiness of your past 24 hour fitness failures, she’s your girl. I also go to boot camp which is available Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays which is also great. The general energy of this place is so positive and motivating. I think anyone could come here and feel comfortable. :)

I started the early morning bootcamp classes a few weeks ago, and I’m loving it.
I decided to take advantage of the LivingSocial deal i saw as a way to jumpstart my year with kick-​ass, consistent workouts. This was perfect!
Lisa is really great at pushing without being pushy. Having that extra motivation from a trainer, as well as encouragement from others in the class, has enabled me to do way more than I would be doing on my own.
I’m looking forward to continuing with the bootcamp classes.

Lisa is an amazing trainer. Her attention to detail, client needs and goals far exceeds my expectations on what a trainer does. Not only does she check in pre/​post work outs but she also provided me with work outs between sessions as well as diet suggestions. Lisa is very comfortable to work with and more than willing to work with my schedule. I highly recommend her!

Finding a gym or a trainer that gets you the results you want is good but why settle for good when you can have GREAT! Better Body for many of us has created a healthy, fun, inspiring community of friends and support. From smoothie challenges to bbq’s and hikes, I’m in the best shape I have ever been in. Never settling and always striving to be better. Lisa is a very intelligent woman and is fully dedicated to doing whatever it takes to get you to your overall optimal health with your commitment as well. She will help you get there while still being able to live your life without guilt, crazy diets or unhealthy pills. Being healthy is more then being skinning or getting built in a gym. Lisa has for sure created a formula that works for all different types of people. Lisa also provides awesome recipes and nutrition tips. Better Body bootcamp is my FAVORITE way to start the day! Simply the Best! Lately I been an on again off again bootcamper due to my schedule. But I love when I find the time to drop in! Best workouts ever! I’m a year into workingout with Lisa and she stays on my case about attendance. I’m working on it! Lol. I have a wedding to plan and she’s definitely my go to girl, me and 24 hr fitness just doesn’t do the job. She’s a must have!

Why Better Body is a good fit for me:
Lisa is a dedicated and hardworking trainer. She brings out the ‘beast’ in you every time, she motivates and makes you stay committed.
The benefit for me is the results I see everyday, I keep getting stronger, leaner and finer (even if I say so myself).
The totally unexpected benefit is the crop of beautiful, intelligent and strong women that have become my cheerleaders and friends.
Would I go anywhere else??? Heck No!!! I just found my home here and I am in great company.

After several times signing up for gym memberships and cancelling & at home «work out» sessions, I finally decided to sign up for Better Body one on one sessions then eventually the small group sessions and finally the bootcamp when they were held
at Lake Merritt. Not that I am an obese person but I never realized how unfit I was and how horrible my eating habits were until working with Lisa. The environment that she creates along with her other clients makes working out an enjoyable experience believe it or not. She attracts a great group of people. I tried the working out alone thing again, but I recently re committed to working out with Better Body now located in a facility in downtown Oakland and I have been feeling better than ever. She is a great motivation and makes you feel good about yourself, especially when you remain consistent and do your part when she is not in your presence (believe me she can tell when you haven’t been doing your homework). I actually look forward to working out now, I missed this feeling and its worth every dollar.

I’ve been going to Lisa for a while now and I do have to say I feel stronger and my body feels tighter.
If you have a goal you want to achieve, Lisa will create a plan for you to achieve your goals. She follows up on your progress, give you homework to keep your training ongoing when you don’t see her however she also ensures your goals stay realistic and keeps it real with you.
Most importantly, she is one of the most professional women in training that I know. There is no attitude, no putting you down, no pushing to the point where you end up in the hospital, her approach focused and she has a grounded holistic approach.
Don’t get me wrong, she’s no pushover, no, no, no, as she gets to know you, Lisa will push you because she knows your aren’t giving it your all and you’ll thank her for not letting you be lazy during your workout session. Thanks to Lisa’s encouragement and learning from her, I will participate in my very first obstacle course 5K marathon.
I’m glad my trainer in the city referred me to her when my job moved because I’m still in good hands!

I’ve attended Better Body Saturday boot camps when they were held at the Lake in the past, but I never stayed consistent with it. This is due in part to the fact that I work for a company that provides onsite trainers and a fully equipped gym as a benefit to its employees. I couldn’t justify paying for that extra expense no matter how effective Lisa proves to be. However, even with this awesome offering at my disposal, I wasn’t seeing the results I wanted. So at the end of December I decided to sign up with Better Body and begin my fitness journey towards a better me. & I must say consistency does pay off. Better Body boot camps + her nutritional advice + encouragement + motivation + positive energy = a healthier, stronger, and happier me! Don’t get me wrong, getting up at 6am is a grueling task, but Lisa makes it worth it. She strives to provide variety, fun, safe and effective instruction that leaves me feeling challenged, stronger, accomplished, alert and ready to take on my day. Not to mention, you’re able to foster amazing relationships with a great community when you join Better Body. Lisa brings together people from all walks of life and fitness levels. We come together to inspire, motivate and support each other. It’s a beautiful thing!
