It’s in a bit of a dicey area so don’t be shocked when you park. It’s a little dive bar but the staff was clean and attentive and the food was interesting. Good service good food. Nice staff that made us comfortable and well taken care of.

Have been here both for the weekend brunch, and on a weekend night. The brunch food was delicious, all 4 of us at the table ordered something different and it as all nothing less than great. Bloody Mary’s were good and atmosphere was quiet. Not pricey at all. Very reasonable for the area. Found myself here on a weekend night because I see a lot of local djs promoting for here. And I love to support local. They have 2 stages. They create the outside lounge area into a stage. And they do have an upstairs room as well. Drinks were good again and the people that hang out their were nice and chill. Plenty of seating in the downstairs area if you don’t feel like dancing and just want to enjoy drinks with friends. No problems parking with my experience. Will def be going again to enjoy the food and good music.

Had brunch here today with a friend and I am confident that it’ll be the last time. When we walked in I quickly noticed that the bar took up most of the space, it was dark, and the music was loud. There were two sets of double doors that were propped open and led to a very small patio area with limited seating. There was also an upstairs area above the patio and I overheard one of the servers explaining that this establishment was a night club(which also explains the massive DJ setup on the patio) and they usually have a second bartender upstairs. Both my friend and I ordered the waffle that came with nothing but butter, crème fraîche, and house made jam and cost $ 8(for one waffle). It took about an half hour for our waffles and the server brought over 3 party wings to apologize for the wait. The wings were burned and didn’t have much flavor; however, the waffle was cooked well(crispy outside and fluffy inside), and the house made jam was delicious. The service as slow and the servers weren’t very personable. The whole experience left little to be desired. Although the waffle was good, I wasn’t impressed and could definitely find better spots to have brunch.

Reading the other reviews, I feel bad having to only grant this place 2 stars. Apparently working with the friendly co owner Stephanie would have made the experience totally different. What we got was no where near friendly. Here are the facts: — Reservations were made more than a week in advance for a birthday party — Over the phone, Stephanie was sweet and accommodating, assuring us that there would be a table outside for us with heat laps ready if necessary. And that a cake would be no problem to bring and serve. — When it got cold and we asked for the heat lamps, our waitress quickly shut that possibility down. When we explained that Stephanie said that would be an option we got a very patronizing, «well, Stephanie isn’t here today. So of course she would say that. I’m here and we can’t put the lamps on.» –okay… — There was a bug found in my brothers drink — 3 plates didn’t come until after everyone else had finished eating — several other minor requests were shut down(one small dollop of hot sauce for the whole table? What? Waffle was cold, syrup was freezing) — they took all the dishes as soon as they could, which I thought was thoughtful until… — when it came to the cake, she tells us that the cake is waiting for us to grab around the corner so to grab it whenever, but also we don’t have anymore plates… No sorry, no accommodation. We even had to ask for at least some forks… — when it came to the bill… I didn’t even try to stick my hand into that, but the waitress waved us down about messing up the way she had it organized. Not that she ever explained the scribble on 3 pieces of paper. — and the bathrooms… Un-usuablly gross(the one women’s toilet didn’t flush but was still being used by several people) All in all the food was pretty good. If you go there for brunch the chicken fried steak is a winner. As is the shrimp and grits, and the banana waffle. Chicken and waffles needs to be developed more(it’s 3 chicken wings on top of a waffle) The food saved the experience from being disastrous.

Super friendly staff, great drink selection, great prices. The building is great, the parties they throw are awesome, and the late night«bar» food is on point. If you haven’t stopped in for brunch, I highly recommend it.

We were looking for new brunch spots to try out in the East Bay. Saw that this spot serves brunch on Sunday so dropped by for a visit. They have a patio, so it would be a nice spot to visit on a nice day. The inside is a bit dark(it’s normally a bar) so if you’re looking for a nicely lit place for brunch, this may not be your spot unless you hit their patio. They serve fried chicken & waffle, and fried pork belly & waffle. I opted for their fried pork belly & waffle since I’ve never had it. It comes with a giant piece of pork belly that’s deep fried. The waffle was pretty good. The whole dish was delicious but very rich. So if you’re looking for healthy food, this is probably not your spot. Would come again when their patio wasn’t so crowded:)

This place is awesome! I had a brunch for 18 people on Superbowl Sunday and everything went so smoothly. All of my guests ate their fill of delicious food and put back quite a few drinks haha. I had the Chicken Fried Steak, which was served biscuits and gravy style(and a fried egg!). My favorite brunch meal by far. After the brunch, the venue began their Superbowl party which was also really fun. They had house playing downstairs and hip hop playing upstairs. All the while they had the game playing throughout the place. Really cool vibes here, awesome menu, and the staff is super friendly. They took good care of us, I will most definitely be returning on my next trip to the bay!

Came to check out Sunday Brunch. I’m guessing this place hasn’t been found yet, because there was no line and food is very yummy. Shrimp and grits very tasty. Chicken and waffles, yum. Chicken fried steak open face sandwich, enough to feed a hungry lumberjack. Foods not cheap, but not really any diff from other places around the bay. Plenty of beanies and flannel going on here. Service was good and parking was easy.

The shrimp and grits is out of this world. Great portions and an excellent vibe on the patio makes this venue a great choice for Sunday brunch. Awesome music to boot, full bar and televisions to watch your local sports teams. Don’t sleep on this new Oakland gem.

I came to BRIX581 for my friends wedding after party and I was really impressed. The food was AMAZING, & the staff was so friendly and attentive. The bartenders were super fun to chat with. We met the owner, Stephanie, and she told us to come back for their Sunday brunch the next day. We went with a couple friends the next day and had a blast. Brunch was delicious. And they had a dj playing house music. It was a great experience! We will definitely be returning soon.

This place is amazing. Great food, great drinks, great music, and great service. Stephanie is one of the owners/proprietors that we met at their other spot and has never failed to just blow us away with her amazingly positive attitude and service. They always make every patron feel at home. I highly suggest using them for large gatherings, but plan ahead with Steph, and she will take care of you. We had our wedding on a Saturday night and came here for the afterparty. They gave all our guests comp’d entry and the next day rented out tables and chairs for us to have a large party brunch in their upstairs area. Didn’t charge us for the rentals and gave us a great pricing and even some comp’d drinks for our guests. Despite not preordering, the kitchen still made food for 30+ people in record time and they never stopped delivering drinks all morning. We seriously couldn’t have asked for better treatment. They are amazing at Brix 581! Whether you are in the mood for some music on a weekend night, or some football and mimosas on Sunday this is definitely the place to be!

Neat hole-in-the-wall spot. Went here on a Sunday because girlfriend’s boyfriend was Dj’ing. Located in Oakland. Kinda sketch. Located right next to the 880 freeway underpass. Don’t go here alone at night ladies. No parking available really. You’ll just have to get lucky with street parking. When we came here it was probably 5−6ish pm. It was pretty busy for a late afternoon but it was already dark out and felt like it was 8 – 9 pm night. There’s two dance rooms. The outdoor patio area was kinda EDM type of music. The area was heavily marked with the smell of some Skunk in the air. Very small and intimate and casual, laid back ambiance. The crowd here is like your older tattoo artist/hair stylist/Older Oakland hipster crowd; people in their 30’s — 40’s. Probably like a «college» party for adults. There is also an upstairs where the DJ who played some cool 90’s hip hop; a small, dark, bricked-wall studio. Drinks were super cheap and affordable; 3 drinks probably around $ 20. We ordered the Mac and cheese and quesadilla. There was only one cook so it took a little while but good that food was made to order. The Mac and cheese was good, not overly rich and it had bits or sausage in it. This could have been made«lazily» like your typical crappy bar food but it was pretty good this time. The quesadilla was decent as well; came out to like 4 pieces for my friends and I to share. Wish they had some fries on their menu; easier to eat and just pick at while you drink but not a big deal. Pretty neat place. Super chill and laid back. Cheap drinks. Decent food and good music. Chill crowd.

We had such a great time at Brunch today! They were so helpful with our big group of people, and really took care of us! The food was fantastic! Shrimp and Grits were perfect, with spicy shrimp and cheesy grits with a super yummy spicy shrimp broth! The buttermilk biscuits are fluffy and scrumptious! The Brunch is def on point!

What an amazing venue! We had our wedding after party there. We were able to rent out the entire bar, upstairs and downstairs, for a very reasonable price without any drink minimum. The music and environment were awesome! DJ Pope made sure all my friends danced all night. The owner, Stephanie, was super professional and friendly throughout the whole process. She was very accommodating and generous. Let’s talk about the food. It was delicious! Definitely try their brunch. It’s a whole lot of food! I definitely recommend this place for food as well as parties.

This bar is ran by the same owners as lounge 3411 with that being said you can expect great services from everyone working behind the bar to the kitchen staff. Brix having two stories is ideal for parties the atmosphere is great along with prices for the drinks. Stephen does a great job switching up the menu to keep your taste buds intrigued though, my personal opinion some choices are a hit or miss. My favorite things to order when im there are: mac and cheese and the sriracha hot wings(which i highly recommend). The brunch menu for sundays are fantastic as well! Karaōke nights on thursdays is pretty slow but, their kj is really chill and this is when you can see stephen at his creative peak with special dish you would prob. Never get at any bar like the braised pork miso udon. Overall, i highly recommend this place for large parties or brunch!

This is a great brunch spot. Apparently, they’re usually a nightclub but on Sundays they do brunch. Everything looked really good on the menu. I settled for pork belly and waffles. The pork belly melted in your mouth and was a good twist on chicken and waffles. Prices were reasonable. The back patio is nice especially if the weather is cooperating. Don’t let the brick building fool you, this place is pretty cool and nondescript. I’m looking forward to trying the other items on the menu.

Wow, this place! Amazing servers, phenomenal food, mouth watering bloody Mary and happy throwbacks music! My buddy planned a brunch for about 12 of us. We were seated outside enjoying the great weather. We had such a great time that even after everyone left from brunch, a few of us still stayed to hang out at the bar. First time here but not my last!

Came today for Mother’s Day Brunch. Did not know what to expect. All I can say is WOW!!! We had a great meal. We started with the beignets. It came with some kind of orange blossom sauce and a chocolate rum sauce. Oh my!!! I could take a bath in that chocolate rum sauce. So delicious!!! Then they brought out a dish called savory bread pudding. This was really good. It came with a nice salad. For my main course I had pork belly(yes!!! I said pork belly) and waffles. The pork belly was cooked like fried chicken. It had a crispy skin outer layer and oh how the pork belly melted in your mouth. Adam said he will never have chicken and waffles again because of this dish and I have to agree. Wow. It was delicious. Thank you for a fantastic meal Adam and Stephanie!!!
