Great neighborhood spot — the barista is always good about acknowledging customers even if her hands are full, and she makes awesome coffee beverages! There is fun art on the walls and the interior is a bit cramped but that doesn’t seem to bother the folks who hang out inside with their snacks and coffees. Great spot across from the Food Mill — always plenty of parking nearby if you are just stopping to get a cuppa.

Ten stars for this place! The food is delicious and healthful/nutritious also. And most important, they have good espresso/coffee equipment and know the essentials of quality coffee/espresso(fresh beans, quality grinder, temperatures, pulling a shot, etc.). They’re even skilled at Latte art! Finally, looks can be deceiving — you will have great difficulty exceeding this level of quality anywhere around. Don’t miss it!

Gotta support a mom n pop shop. «The works» breakfast sandwich was amazing. Thick cut bacon, egg, avocado, cream cheese and a cilantro chutney/chimichurriesque hot sauce on a bagel that could actually pass as a bagel on the east coast. What a uniquely delicious combination. Looking forward to coming back to try one of the night time pop ups.

Great neighborhood spot for coffee, some gluten free and gluten-full treats, and sandwiches. Their lattes have always been great, and the location is awesome for a neighborhood walk!

Just walked in and grabbed some drip with some running friends. Cutest spot ever. Super great service, clean. And most importantly… the coffee is amaze-balls.

This place serves Wrecking Ball Coffee, which is the brainchild of Nicholas Cho and Trish Rothgeb. They do their roasting in SF, so you know the beans are fresh here at 3016. Their bagels are also very good, but I don’t know where they get them. They tend to sell out of bagels often, so get there early for their breakfast sandwiches, which are very good. Being a coffee enthusiast/snob I tend to only get USAs or pour over drip and drink it black, so if you’re looking for chai mochafrapamachiaatos then go to Starbucks. This place is family owned and operated by very, very nice people. The place displays artwork from local artists, and schools, the owners are very active in the community and are huge supporters of small, local businesses. I cannot encourage you enough to come here for the excellent service, coffee, and bagel sandwiches. Shop local, buy local, STay in Oakland.

Just the most solid neighborhood café you could ask for. Fast wifi, good food, nice people… And excellent espresso! They get their beans from an equally small third wave coffee house in San Francisco called Wreaking Ball on Union St. Very nice light roast & they know how to pull a proper shot. Honestly I think 3016 pulls their shot better, just a bit more flavor than the ones I’ve had at Wreaking Ball.

Wow! Who would’ve knows this place was hidden in the Laurel District? I came here for lunch on a Tuesday and I have to say I was pretty satisfied. I had an «open tuna melt sandwich» and it was ok, a tad bit salty for my taste and I’m not a fan of yellow cheese but the salad was great and the coffee(I got a latte)… OMG the best I’ve had in Oakland. You see? I’m a Berkeley girl and coffee shops out there are the BEST but I have to say; coffee here was great! I will definitely come back for another cup of joe maybe not another sandwich but coffee YESSSSS!!!

Walked a couple miles, stroller in tow, to this place today and worked up an appetite so I got The Works bagel sandwich and it was the best bagel sandwich I’ve ever had! I can’t wait to come back and try the smoked trout bagel Sammy. Cute spot with good coffee, food and service! Will be back soon!

Lovely little café in the Oakland Dimond. They carry all of the basics in terms of espresso coffee drinks and have some other types of specialty drinks as well. I haven’t tried the mint lemonade yet, but that’s because I can’t stop ordering the coffee when I go. As for food, they offer bagels from Authentic Bagel(a bagel bakery in Jack London Square), and do a bunch of stuff with them from just toasting and putting cream cheese on them, to more elaborate egg breakfast sandwiches with green salsa. They offer lunchtime sandwiches too. As for payment options, they take cash and card, so it’s pretty convenient. I like this place for my Saturday morning breakfast…

BF and I came to this neighborhood gem on a Saturday morning. Had the spicy egg bagel and the works bagel with mochas! Delish! We live a few blocks away, can’t believe we hadn’t been here before. Will definitely be back!

They serve Wrecking Ball Coffee, specifically Ethiopian Sidama Guji Wrecking Ball Coffee. The café is small but not without seating opportunities.

Wanted to try something new and I have passed by this little café many times but never stopped, and after today I should have kept going. They are very clean inside always seem to have a flow of people but this is just not the place for me. They have a pretty basic menu of coffee, tea, and some breakfast items. The prices are steep for what I feel they lack in quality. I ordered a large iced chai latte(the size of a grande at SB) $ 4.25 and a raspberry almond scone $ 2.75. Lets start with my Chai: they poured liquid(chai concentrate?) and milk over ice, which was great since I hate cafes that have a powder-hot water-over ice-melted down to nothing-so its luke-warm Chai. Get in my Truck ready to head out have my first sip and taste ice water… then floral, like what my shampoo smells like, then a bit of a bite which usually is the spice in Chai but after trying to just chug the rest, there was no spice taste at all and just more floral, got half way though before I just tossed the rest. Raspberry Almond Scone: Totally was going to order a bagel breakfast sandwich, til I read the sign that said out of bagels… so look below into the pastry display and decide to go with a scone, trying to get the taste of the Chai out of my mouth break off a huge chunk of scone and bite. First taste wasn’t Raspberry,(which was a filling on the inside) and the Almonds were just a sprinkling on the top, no it was a sour lemon taste which from experience I know many recipes call for lemon juice when making preserves or jams like this. After that I decided to call it a loss for the day of my breakfast at noon.

We went here for breakfast on our WEDDINGDAY that is how delicious their spicy egg bagels are! Plus they are hearty enough to keep you fueled throughout a long and busy day! Owners Amber and Edwin are the sweetest.

Went to Café 3016 to grab a quick bite near a friend’s place before the Warriors game last week. It is a small, cute place with great food. I ordered the Bagel Special, which was a bagel with cream cheese and smoked trout on it along with a side salad. The whole process was pretty fast and I received my food within 5 minutes of ordering. I would definitely come again!

Came in here because it was after 3 and I wanted a great bagel, and I found they sell ABC(Authentic Bagel Co) bagels. Was not disappointed. Cute place, friendly staff, reasonable prices, the smoked trout was really good and sure enough, ABC bagels are the best(I might like them better than Beauties!). The double latte was yums too!

I am so grateful that I live near Café 3016! This place is amazing and I probably come at least 3 times a week. I am a bagel fanatic so Café 3016 fits me perfectly :) Their bagels are from Authentic Bagel Company, which are legitimate as the name implies. My favorite is a poppy seed bagel with cream cheese, but their bagel sandwiches are also delicious. The Veggie Bagel is great for a healthier option(avocado & cucumber). The Breakfast Bagel is a heartier option with egg, ham(I believe), and cheese(no cream cheese) — it’s great for hangovers. As other reviewers have commented, the spicy egg bagel is unique and quite tasty. In my opinion, it’s not actually very spicy. I’ve also had their Special Bagel which has smoked trout, and would recommend it as well. Their lattes and drip coffee are a solid addition to my bagel as well ;)

My philosophy about eating out is that you should pay for things that you cannot or will not, due to complexity, replicate at home. Café 3016 does both. They know how to make consistently slammin’ food with thoughtful combinations of fresh ingredients and deliberately delicious use of dressings/condiments/sauces/spices, etc. I regularly order: * The works bagel — ZOMG. Just order this. It’s just yummy. * The breakfast bagel — Yes, queen. * BLT — with perfectly thick bacon and a great side salad with just the right amount of yum dressing. * Mocha — The best in Oakland, IMHO. There are games, magazines, conversation, in and outdoor seating, and people have small meetings here.

Everything I’ve had so far is excellent. The espresso and drip coffee is top notch. I recommend the works bagel and the meatloaf panini; both were stellar. And they accept square wallet. Can’t wait to explore more of the menu.
