Soumil has responded to my review of the work that he did to my home with claims that there were difficulties with working on an older home. Please note that the home has been very well maintained over time.
The complaint remains that your crew arrived late, took long lunches, and left early. They were careless with respect to debris removal prior to painting (my contractor was very concerned that no care was taken with possible lead abatement). Dust and debris were allowed to fly everywhere and not vacuumed up prior to painting, allowing debris to be painted into surfaces. Patching was not sanded smooth, but just painted over without use of a primer first. The painting of trim was just sloppy and careless, with crooked lines, over painting the trim color onto the body of the house. In fact areas that could not be seen without getting up on a ladder, like ledges, were left unpainted.
My contractor and myself had to repeatedly demand that your workers resolve these issues. Your Supervisor was resistant and told us that this was the best that could be done. You finally, after threatening to withhold payment, sent a more qualified painter out who resolved some of the issues, but not all of them.
I would never work with your company again!

My questions and comments during he contracting process with the owner were responded to promptly and answered well. We arrived easily at a negotiated price.
The work crew was also prompt, respectful and accommodating. They did not intermix other jobs, but worked consecutive days until they completed the job. They cleaned up daily and after the job returned everything to its place. When I noticed a couple things they missed, they returned promptly and with good temper took care of those things.
I painted my own house for 35 years, so learned something about preparation and painting. They did the job the way I always thought it should be done.
One item has yet to be finished, because of weather. The owner said he won’t close this job until I’m 100% satisfied and suggested we talk about scheduling when the weather improves. He also responded positively to my suggestions about how to improve his business.
His is one of two businesses I have encountered in 72 years which has A1 customer service and provides and A1 product.

CertaPro Painters painted the exterior of my home in Oakland, Ca. Their proposal was reasonable in comparison to two other proposals [it was in the middle]. Kevin (Sales Mgr) explained the process and paint recommendations for the house and patio cover. The communication felt informative and did not feel like there was pressure to get the job. Rose (Office Mgr) was great to work with regarding scheduling and paint color selections, including my last minute change to the accent color.
The project began with some communication concerns which resulted in Soumil, the owner, and Wilson (Production Mgr) responding quickly to address. From that point onward the project went smoothly and I felt the team made every effort to make me happy.
As you can imagine with an old house, there were cracks around the house and chimney that were challenging. They were addressed and the repair and painting looks beautiful! The patio cover looks so nice after power washing, sanding and with the fresh coats of paint. They managed to do this without detaching the cover from the house. Painters Jorge (Foreman) and Marcello were professional and did a great job. Jorge was patient in answering my questions.
There is one crack in the stucco, which I need repaired by a stucco repairman. Once done, CertaPro is willing to repaint the repaired area at no extra cost.
Neighbors have all expressed that they love the color and the professional job performed.

Certa-​Pro Painters did a fabulous job with powerwashing, sanding and staining my redwood deck. The estimate was very reasonable and the staff was very attentive to keeping to the schedule. They did very careful work especially in prepping the job with a light sanding and patient application of the semi-​solid stain. The deck looks fabulous. I highly recommend Soumil and Kevin as the leaders of their team.

From the very beganing they were very professional. From being on time, to doing exactly like what they said they were going to do.
Everyone I dealt with was very nice.
When there was a minor mistake they stepped up and took care of it.
They did a great job all the way around. From prepping the building, priming and a great finish. I feel very comfortable that the job they did was of the highest standard’s and they stand behind it.

CertaPro of Berkeley is truly professional. Kevin, the sales manager, arrived on time to review my needs. His bid totally reflected what I wanted done in painting parts of the exterior of my home. Ivan, the foreman is a master painter. He and Wilson cleaned every surface by hand (my request), filled in cracks in wood, made minor repairs to wood rot, used a tinted primer, and then two coats of the paint I had requested. Ivan matched the existing colors perfectly. He kept me involved at each step. They were on time cleaned up every day. Ivan and Nelson took great pride in their work. The results are fabulous. I would absolutely use them again.

Just finished having CertaPro paint the exterior of my house and couldn’t be happier. Their estimate was 40% lower (~$ 3,300) than another well-​known local San Rafael company (with an excellent reputation). I was impressed with Kevin during the initial estimate walk-​around and greatly appreciated the owner’s (Soumil) great communication and follow-​up before/​during/​after the work. I gave them the addresses of two nearby homes where I really liked the paint colors and they provided color matches for me to try out (I ended up selecting one of these color combos).
The two-​man crew (Lead by Jorge) was great. I was greatly impressed with their clean-​up every day, especially that I didn’t find even the smallest paint chip anywhere around the house after initial prep and paint scraping. The guys were very personable and open to questions or other concerns I had as the job progressed. And the final result looks great! Not just the result of a new color combination on the house, but the excellent detail work really shows when you get up close. I received multiple compliments from neighbors in just the first few days. Funny thing, I received a request for feedback on their work from a perspective customer just a few days after they finished and I was very happy to give them a great recommendation. I’ve dealt with four different contractors for big projects (~$ 6K — $ 15K) since I bought my home 18 months ago and I wish every experience was as positive as working with CertaPro.

Contacted CertaPro because they were a Diamond Certified business. We had them paint the exterior of our house to match the original paint. They were on-​time every day, including when Kevin came over to do the quote, and did the job quickly (painting took only three days) which included two top coats and a tinted primer coat on ²⁄₃ of our home. When they finished the house looks great, as expected, and the crew also did an excellent job of cleaning up.

Soumil, Kevin, Christina, Everardo, Ronny — they’re excellent. They just painted our exterior and we had a lot of stucco patching to do. Kevin was realistic and accommodating with the scope and quote. They did a great job with the stucco prep, were receptive to special requests Worked super hard to get things done quickly and on time. Great communication by all. Highly recommend. We also used them to do our kitchen cabinets a few years ago and they came out great. Tons of attention to detail and nice, clean work.

I cannot recommend these guys more. From our first e-​mail to the day the work was finished, it was easy, professional, and efficient. I am very picky, and CertaPro made sampling colors easy (they work with Sherwin-​Williams, who matched all our colors), and I can guarantee there were no stains or splatters anywhere in sight. We had our interior repainted (living room, dining room, hallway, kitchen, staircase, and bathroom). The foreman and his team (3 people total) worked fast, efficiently, asking questions when needed, paying attention to details, and being very respectful of our home. On top of that they were very kind and pleasant people to have around for 3 days. The estimate was very competitive, and they made us feel like they wanted our business. I definitely recommend them, and would work with them again.

We just had the exterior of our house painted by CertaPro, and are really happy with the process and results. Of the 4 estimates we had, CertaPro’s was next to lowest (and only because the lowest bid assumes a lower quality paint). I appreciated Kevin’s and Christina’s patience in working out an estimate scheduling snafu caused by the central office (i.e., not the Berkeley’s office fault) as well as Kevin’s detailed estimate. Once we decided on them, the process was pretty painless. Christina worked with us on scheduling the job, and having Juan put on sample colors. Juan and his crew were very professional, working thoroughly, carefully, and cleanly. I definitely recommend CertaPro for a painting job.

We used CertaPro to pain the exterior of our home. Kevin came to do the estimate and help us pick a color. He had tried to match a couple of houses we liked but the samples they gave us just didn’t float my boat. I asked Kristina in the office to help us and to sample five more colors off the Sherwin-​Williams website, and she had Juan put them up that same day. One of those new colors was exactly what we were both looking for and we are very happy with the results. It looks great, the two painters, Juan and Vladimir worked very hard, were very polite and trustworthy. I have no complaints and I love the way my house looks. Definitely recommend. We did not get any other estimates because I have no time for that, so I can’t compare price wise but it seemed reasonable.

I was extremely impressed by the work that this Certa Pro Painters branch was able to do in my home. I was referred to a colorist who helped us create a beautiful palette to work with, and their painters sealed the deal.
They painted our complex arrangement flawlessly and did so in just a few days. I could not have been more pleased by their performance and professionalism. Great price, great service, and I would definitely use them again. Hands down, the best customer service experience I have had in years.

Like many others, I obtained three painting quotes. CertaPro was in the middle, but we appreciated the attention Kevin gave us when he walked around and how he clearly explained everything that would be done. When he agreed to fit us in to accommodate an upcoming trip, that clinched the deal.
Dago was in charge; he and the crew arrived early every morning and got to work. They went above and beyond in having to move lots of «stuff» to work around, and when we asked if they would paint the underside of an upper-​level deck, there was no resistance.
The final job looked amazing. During our walk-​through, we found a handful of minor items, which Dago quickly and efficiently took care of (we are sticklers for detail, but found very little that was an issue to us). We would heartily recommend CertaPro to others looking for local housepainters.

Plain great. Multi unit victorian, lead paint issues, newborn baby — these folks were friendly, responsive, high quality, absolute professionals.
My girlfriend and I had our newborn baby home two weeks when we received notice that our landlords were having the exterior of our multi-​unit victorian house stripped and painted. Now, we had already tested and knew there was lead in some of the exterior paint. SO… it set off huge alarm bells, fear, uncertainty and doubt.
My partner and newly minted mommy swung into action, calling Alameda County Lead Prevention (aka Healthy Homes)
. They educated on risks, mitigation, how to qualify painters (what to ask, what to look for). Partner/​new mom called landlord, called painters — put them through the ringer.
CertaPro answered the phone every time. They responded in a straightforward manner about their experience, approach. They communicated timelines; coordinated with our schedules. Taping, sealing, covering, stripping, cleaning, painting, painting, painting. They laid our fears to rest and proceeded to meet the high expectations.
After the scraping was (which we had evacuated from the house for a few days), I tested interior window ledges for lead dust. 8 samples all completely negative. Awesome. Then the painting, also great. The workers were friendly and highly cooperative. Top notch organization that we experienced, from beginning to on-​time completion.
I have no affiliation with CertaPro or any of their employees. They just did an exceptional job in a tricky circumstance. My partner and I were extremely happy with them and their work. Well done.

From top to bottom, this crew is professional, courteous and meticulous. The owner –Soumil — is the mastermind behind the operation and certainly keeps the machine well oiled. I had some issues with the price vs. the competition (Certa Pro was middle of the bunch) but no other company was as comprehensive with their process, expectations and consultation. In fact, I told Soumil what that his price was a little above my budget and he was able to work with me on lowering price without sacrificing quality. I am very pleased with their work and would certainly recommend using this company to my friends, family and neighbors.

Kevin Carter and the crew are awesome! They met our needs with reasonable pricing. The painters (Bernardo and two other gentlemen) were very friendly, professional and helpful. I would recommend their service to anyone that values customer service and quality.

We recently hired CertaPro painters to paint our soon-​to-​be daughter’s nursery. From the process of getting a quote to the finish of the job, they were very easy to work with and very professional. I was able to scope out the entire project via email with Soumil, who was very responsive throughout the process. He also gave me some tips on which paint to get given that it was for a child’s room, which was helpful.
When the time came for the guys to show up, they were right on time, very courteous, clean, efficient, and they did good quality work. Absolutely no complaints whatsoever from me. Plus, the price was very fair (we got several other quotes and they were among the best priced). They set up the entire paint job, got it done, and then cleaned it up as if they’d never been there — all within 2 – 3 hours.
It was great working with them, and we’ll definitely use them again when we need another paint job in the house.

CertaPro just finished painting the exterior of our home in Rodeo. I don’t know where to begin. Let’s just say I am extremely pleased and they have far exceeded our expectations. Very professional, so accommodating and the quality of work is just exceptional.
I have to admit I am very particular and a tad bit OCD when it comes to certain things. I hate to say it, but I think finally met my match. Jonathan was the foreman for our home. He was very detail oriented and made sure the work was done the right way.

I am looking at the walls that the CertaPro team finished painting today and just… wow. The paint job is GREAT, the colors impeccable (wait, I picked those!) but most importantly, the house, after an intense 1 ½ day job, is back EXACTLY how it was before they started (apart from the wall color.) Nothing broken, no blue tape left behind, no… nothing! Just perfect walls and stairwell and ALL my stuff back where it belongs.
The deets: this is my second time using Soumil and his team. They painted the exterior of our Berkeley house last year and did a GREAT job — we took advantage of a colorist that time and he was a huge help. This last job included our living room walls (minus ceiling and trim, which were both in fine shape) and the entry and stairway up to the top floor. They showed up on time, courteous, eager to work and asked lots of questions to be sure they did the job the way I wanted them to.
But here’s the kicker: this has got to be the first time I’ve ever had a contractor actually SPEED up the job in order to accommodate my schedule. I mentioned on day 1 (Monday) that I was working from home and, ideally, would love to get into the office by Wednesday. The foreman then called Soumil and asked for a 4^th guy to help out to ensure they were done by day 2! And they were! Done by 2:30 in fact. And that included clean up, a walkthrough and even helping me put furniture back and pictures up.
Yes, they aren’t the absolute cheapest but, as I’ve found out the hard way, when it comes to painting, you really do get what you pay for. The prices are fair, the workers seem happy and loyal and Soumil is a delight to do business with. Hire them and I can promise you you won’t be sorry.
