Owner of this place is great. Make sure to call ahead and if he’s there, he’ll take care of replacing a watch battery in less than 5 minutes for $ 5. Such great service.

I have had a broken watch for over a year because I put off getting the battery replaced but when I came here, I was so pleasantly surprised by how friendly the service was and how fast it got fixed! He even set the time correctly for me — such a nice extra touch.

Well, I’m sorry to have to knock my previous stellar review down, but just a month after bringing my much loved watch here to get a new battery, the back cover suddenly fell off for no apparent reason, exposing the delicate parts and battery. I’m just so thankful this happened while I was in my kitchen and could see/​hear it fall to the ground. This could have happened without my knowing on a crowded train or busy street. I managed to snap it back somewhat, but to be safe, I brought it to my jeweler to look at the next day. They were able to apply the right amount of pressure to get it back into place (and cleaned it for me while there). The repair person even came out with it and kindly recommended that in the future I always bring it to them to avoid such a mishap. I sure will.
So, while my previous 5-​star review was based on the friendly service and convenience I experienced while there, I need to give the 2-star/I’ve experienced better update because I have never had this happen before (so I have experienced better!). This may help future customers, too, in that they can just ask the owner to ensure the back cover is put back on securely.

This place definitely lives up to its name of «Friendly Watch Repair». For only $ 5, the owner was able to change my watch battery in literally under a minute. I was so surprised that the cost was only $ 5 that he joked I could pay him more haha. He even helped set the time before I left. (I will update my review once I know how long my new battery last– hopefully a long time!)

This place is awesome! Very reasonable prices, and you can tell the owner has a sincere LOVE for watches. I used to go to AJR Watch Repair in Piedmont, and received terrible service, so I decided to check this place out, and man am i glad i did! I have a lot of watches, some of which are Diesel and they’re the HUGE ones with the 4 different time zones. I was told at AJR, that it would be «impossible» to change the batteries in them, because no watch store would have «tools big enough». I brought them here and I got all 4 batteries needed in them replaced! And at a very reasonable rate, and very quickly! I recommend this place VERY highly to anyone looking for ANYTHING watch related. Be it sizing, repair, battery replacement, etc. This guy knows and does it all! While being super pleasant to interact with as well!

Knowledgeable, quick, and reasonably priced. And Friendly, as the business name reflects.
He adjusted a metal link watch band on a new watch, and replaced the batteries on two others.

This place was fantastic! We had been going somewhere else in Oakland for a while but after some sub-​par service we decided to try some where new. The only negative is the parking, but like other people have said, he is so fast you can just park illegally for a few minutes. I was so pleasantly surprised to find that this place was cheaper, faster and also super friendly and he seems super knowledgeable. I think my watch obsessed fiancé has finally met his match & someone to talk watches with. I seriously can’t say enough good things!

Life was so much simpler when all you had to do was wind your watch up to keep it running. Hunting down places to replace a watch battery has become a real pain in the you-​know-​what. Enter Friendly Watch Repair — problem solved! For $ 5 in less than 5 minutes. There’s nothing I can say about this remarkable place of business that hasn’t already been said. This guy is a living ANGEL! While I was still digging around in my pockets for the money to pay him with, he handed my watch back to me with a new battery! I had to blink twice because I couldn’t believe my eyes. It was like a magic act! Super nice human being. GO THERE for all your watch repairs because this gentleman deserves to be swamped with business. Note: It’s cash only.

Took him LESS THAN A MINUTE to replace a new battery in my dad’s watch. I handed him the watch, looked down in my purse to take out my wallet, looked back up and he was finished. What is this sorcery?!
I forgot to ask him how long the new battery would last though. Hopefully a year or more?

This place was easy to find– quick service — and very courteous. Fixed 3 watches — removed links — replaced 2 batteries — fixed the fallen off hands on the face of the watch — all in 20 minutes and for $ 25.

I looked down at my watch and noticed the time had stopped a few hours ago.
I knew it was a simple battery, but I didnt know where to get it replaced and I have overpaid for this service in the past so I was willing to wait.
I asked an assoaicate if he knew where I could get this done and he directed me to this place that did a quick, efficient and most importantly a cost effective job.
When this battery goes out in a few years Ill be sure to return.

Super easy and quick, just like the other reviews said. Had one watch that needed links taken out and another that needed a new battery– less than ten minutes and $ 10 later, and he was done!
The only thing is it’s cash only, so make sure you have some on you before you walk in.

5 dollars to fix your watch or put in a new battery.
5 minutes, and he’ll be done.
He’s not there on Thursdays and Sundays.
Parking sucks, but I double park, run in and give him my watch, go back to my car and sit there for 5 minutes, and by the time I come back in he should be done.
Easy fix, great place to come get your battery replaced.

Thanks to Unilocal reviews, I found this gem in Chinatown. Got three extra links in my new watch band removed in less than 3 minutes for $ 5. The guy who did it was very nice too! Wish I could give this place 6 stars!!! :)
