I’ve been here before and had decent haircuts so when I needed a trim I decided to return, this time with a new stylist given availability constraints. She was fine and I enjoyed speaking with her, but the cut looked a little uneven when we finished. I thought I was making it up and that it was from the angle I was seeing it in the mirror (I mean really, who gets an uneven haircut?), but when I got home and re-​assessed then yes, it was horribly uneven. (One side hit my collarbone on the top of the bone, and the other side hit my collarbone on the bottom side of the bone.) I called back and expressed embarrassment (I’ve never had to return to get a cut fixed before), and then returned to get everything «straightened out». The stylist had me stand, then fixed my hair even without a drape so that I had hair pieces all over my clothing. When she asked my thoughts afterward I asked the receptionist for a second opinion saying «I think it’s even but can you please weigh in so that I don’t need to return again?» In response I got a «well, this isn’t about us; we want *you* to be happy with it» — essentially making it seem like it was my fault for getting a bad haircut and needing to return to get it fixed. In short, I had to spend way longer than I wanted to get probably the worst haircut of my life.
I called back the next day to see if I could speak with a manager and express my dissatisfaction. Low and behold, it was the same woman who served as the receptionist. She appeared unsympathetic to my complaints but then did offer to refund me half the cost of the haircut. It has been a week, and no credit has been posted to my credit card.
I strongly recommend against this salon — both to avoid terrible haircuts and also to avoid poor customer service.

We had a great experience here. Came in for a blowout, and Jackie and Maria were very accommodating and hospitable. Maria did my hair, and it looked great. Lots of volume, like i wanted. We found this place on Unilocal,and we’re so glad that we did! Thank you again for everything!

First things first, the lady that was doing my hair smelled like she had been drinking for the last few days nonstop. That probably should have been my cue to leave but since the reviews on Unilocal were so great, I decided to stay. I decided I was going to get my hair dyed along with a hair cut. She did a decent job dying my hair although the streaks I wanted did not show up, but when she finished doing my hair it was nothing but a disaster. I wanted an A-​line bob with angled bangs. She gave me an uneven bob from the back and really short straight bangs. I did not notice how bad the hair was until the next morning which is when I rushed to find another salon that would fix her sloppy work before my birthday. Long story short, Maria, the hair stylist, is definitely not a person you want to cut your hair.
PS.the owner was very apologetic and did try to correct the situation by offering to return some of the money. As grateful as I am for her great customer service, I will still never return to this salon.

Nice massage today. The therapist was very skilled and I did feel much better afterwards. The only drawback had to do with the noise. I was really looking forward to a relaxing one hour experience but found it hard to do so due to the music, talking and other noises that were emanating from the salon downstairs. I had to stop the massage and ask that they please turn down the music downstairs twice.
It’s probably not really the business’s fault given the acoustics of the place however, if they continue to offer massages I suggest that they invest in sound proofing the room and/​or several noise machines. Don’t think I would recommend it to anyone the way that it is now.

I got a really good haircut from here and will definately return.

Ok so I’m walking down lakeshore and see a mani/​pedi special for first timers.
I was pleasantly surprised by Mimi’s services. She does a great job. Her and the salon are very customer service oriented. The space is private and nice to just relax. Great ambiance.
I will definitely go back for more.

I love Peris Cole she was such a sweetheart and did a fabulous job on my hair! Definitely going back when I need my hair cut and colored! She wouldn’t let me leave until my hair was perfect! Very good place to go. I highly recommend seeing Peris! :)

Got the hottest haircut! Paris is amazing!!! And Jacqueline (owner) super nice and funny! They all made me feel so comfortable. I have cut my hair in 6 years because I’ve been scared. But they did such an amazing job!

Eric is brilliant! He helps me ride the line between edgy unique hair for my band gigs at night and something that reads professional for my day job. I’ve never trusted a hairstylist so much. I can say I’m ready for a change and I know he’ll make me look fabulous. If you’re looking for a sophisticated yet punk rock look book with Eric. You won’t regret it! I get compliments constantly about my purple hair and I can’t recommend him enough.

Eric is everything you hope for in a stylist. After having several not so pleasant experiences; I gave this place a try after reading such wonderful things about him. He listened to everything I had to say, and let me know what we could do to preserve the integrity of my hair at the same time. This was by far one of the best haircuts I’ve ever had, and have now found my stylist in Lake Merritt. Finally! Thank You Eric :)

I have had my hair cut here twice. The first time was about 3 years ago, and the stylist scratched my scalp with her acrylic nails. I stayed away for a while, but since I like Aveda products, I decided to try again.
This time my stylist was Sam. After starting the appointment 15 minutes late, she sprayed my hair with water from a bottle to get it damp, then without combing it straight (my hair is between wavy and curly), she cut it in about 20 minutes and then partially blow dried it with a diffuser, leaving it still damp. My hair is almost to my elbows and has layers, so I was surprised that she finished so quickly.
I hate to give up on this salon because I like Aveda, the price was reasonable for this area ($ 45), and the location is good for me. But I feel like I paid 4 times too much for a Supercuts hair cut!

Wow! Eric is amazing !! I had an idea of what I wanted but he had bigger plans for me. So knowledgable and nice he def knows his stuff. He massages your hair while its in the tub and he is awesome at styling. I have super log hair and decided to go short for the first time and he made me look so beautiful ! I feel fabulous and I recommend going to him and only him at the Izek Salon. He knows his stuff ladies you will not be disappointed

If you don’t know now you know. Eric is the best! And Jackie runs an interactive boutique that caters to a variety of services. I was on vacation but was seriously in need of a drastic transformation from the drab Santa fe cut and highlights and Eric changed my life. Now I have a fierce pastel mullet and am the talk of the town. Thank you so much and I shall return.

So happy I finally found my go to salon in the area! After my absolute horrendous experience at bounce blowdry bar across the street I was very happy to welcomed with open arms at this salon! My stylist Jacy was great! She was meticulous and extremely careful with my natural hair as she blew it out. I would trust her completely in the future with such things as dying my hair. The only reason I’m not giving the full 5 stars is that it was extremely time consuming and took much much longer than it takes to straighten my own hair. But the end result was beautiful and well taken care of as she took the time to properly detangle my hair. I will def keep coming back to this salon.

So I decided that I needed to change my stylist, and we all know that finding a new stylist can be just as hard as finding a boyfriend or girlfriend for that. I was looking for someone who understood I wanted s change but knew how to keep it professional yet edgy and ‘IN’… I was lucky enough to get an appointment with Eric. And let me tell you, HE IS AMAZING! Eric took my drab one tone washed out hair to a beautiful natural looking ombré. He was professional and assured me that it would look great, and when he was done I was impressed! I have gotten numerous compliments on my gorgeous new hair style all thanks to Eric!
SO… If you are looking for someone in the Bay Area who can create master pieces with your hair he is your stylist!

This review is for Eric, the hair magician. I went in on a whim, because I can never get it together to actually schedule a hair appointment ahead of time. My hair is always a mess (crispy, crunchy, frizzy, you name it) and I can never seem to find a stylist I like enough to go to more than once. Eric worked some major magic. He took my nonsensical babble about what I wanted and gave me one of the best cuts I’ve ever had. He is also a master with a blow dryer. Seriously, my hair has never looked so good. I’m just sad I can’t afford to hire him to style my hair daily.
People seem to have a lot of complaints about the staff at this salon not being friendly. I liked them. Nice and sassy but not trying to be my new best friend either.

After moving to the East Bay about 9 months ago, I had struggled to find a decent place for a Mani/​Pedi. I really was not having much luck. I don’t like the cheap places, and after going to Tip Toes in San Francisco for YEARS, I was a bit spoiled.
I happend to walk by IZEK last night. I like Aveeda products, and that caught my eye, then I noticed they also offered nail service.
SO SO happy with my mani/​pedi! Le was gentle and meticulous, but really thorough. It had been a while since my last pedi, but she got my heels soft and smooth.
She does both the mani/​pedi, so it takes more time than service at the clip/​scrape/​paint/​pay places, but oh so worth it. Nice little relaxing space upstairs with the breeze coming in. Make some time and enjoy the experience!

This was my first time coming here to get my hair done as I am fairly new to the Lakeshore area. Originally I had plans on getting my hair done at a particular place in the city, but for some reason the place was out of business and I was in serious need of a perm with no where to go!
Using Unilocal!as my guide I decided this would be a good time to find a shop that was located closer to home rather than the city and Izek had plenty of good reviews and allowed walk-​ins.
I was able to get an appointment with Saeed at 3pm and was out by 5, which is really good timing compared to what I was use to back at home. Saeed was very nice and gentle — not too rough, no burning scalp from the perm or hot iron, and the wash was good too. My hair feels so nice and clean!
I greatly appreciate that the receptionist and Saeed were able to schedule me in last minute. Normally I like to schedule ahead of time, but today was different due to changing of plans. It’s a bit pricey in terms of the cost especially since I am a student (an art student no less), but other than that it was a great experience and hopefully I can set aside some funds for my next perm in 6 or so weeks time :)

I cannot rave enough about the awesome service I received from Janine who does waxing at this salon. This was literally one of the top five experiences in my life so far for cosmetologists who have performed this service for me. Janine was fast, professional, knowledgeable and just good at her job. Also this is the BEST price out of ANY place on Lakeshore and Grand — believe me I have been polling.
I will never go anywhere else.
PS — full face = completely painless. I swear.
