Wow!!! I’m from out of state and was looking for someplace to get saltwater «fitted» for what I thought was necessary to fish in the ocean. I found everything that I needed, plus some that I wanted, and surprisingly everything was really decently priced. Just about every kind of bait that you could want is here as well. They have an entire wall and section dedicated to just sinkers/​weights. They have got poles, reels, and crabbing gear. I was stoked to see what a diamond in the rough this place is. Got some fishing info off the gentleman behind the counter, and off I went. Shop has two names on Unilocal the other name is Phu Quy live bait shop or something, but they both have the same address.

Absolutely hands down the best bait shop in the east bay. Got everything from shiners, bullheads, blood/​pile worms, frozen bait, squid, anchovie

I am new to fishing and crabbing but this place is THE best place to go to get ready for your next fishing trip. The guy in the shopis very nice and knows a lot! They got all kinds of live baits, lures, equipment in very reasonable price. He also put on the fishing line for me when i walked in with a new rod with no extra charge! What a nice guy!

As good as it gets. Awesome mom and pop shop with fair pricing and solid service. It’s always here for me. I love supporting shops like this.

Really great bait shop with essential tackle. I stopped there today for the first time after having driven by a few times. Clean, good signage and well stocked with friendly people working there. With so many bait and tackle shops moving out of town or going out of business it is awesome to see one improving. I will be back for sure.

Mike’s Bait is a one stop shop. From fishing accessories to bait, it can all be purchased here. The pricing fare way better than most bait shops. Especially live bait, i.e. grass, ghost shrimp, pile and blood worms. Also weights because those can get really pricey. Other than that, he is my main source for fishing reports. A very reliable one too!

Best in the Eastbay. Selection, quality, price and a little advice, Mike is the best. RECOMMEND to all fishing any bay area spots or species.

Mike is a great guy and runs an excellent shop. He caters to the local fishermen, knows what they what right down to the most intricate terminal tackle and baits, and supplies his shop accordingly. I will call Mike, let him know what I’m looking for, and come on through to the shop. Very personable service from him and his family as his mom fills in some time when he is fishing and she picks up the slack. Very neat and organized shop and the best prices, which is always nice. I bought an Avet SX from Mike and got the best price, even beat online pricing. Located close enough to prime eastbay fishing like Alameda and Oakland Airport and right in between if you are going to the southbay or eastbay for fishing.

I came here about a week ago, I bought a pound of grass shrimp and anchovies. The shrimp were a bit on the small side, but is OK. And best of all is the price, pretty dam cheap.

This place is one of my favorite places to get live bait. I think the owner Mike, is very friendly and helpful. When I first started coming here when I started fishing bought 4 – 5 years ago, I went here and have continued to come here for my fishing needs.(besides walmart or cvs that is for fishing gear)
The only down fall is that sometimes they don’t have my bait of choice which is grass shrimp. (but that is not their fault because of the supplier or what not)
Anyways, like I said, I like coming here for all my bait /​fishing needs. Plus the bait is larger in size than other bait shops.
I will keep coming here if they continue to be open. Too bad they can’t be open earlier like when I go on expenditures at 4 in the morning, but heck who is open at 4 right. Lol

I’ve only came here for one thing only, and that is live bait. Always came through with live shiners, even when its really early in the season and no one else is selling it but this store. Everytime i fish the berkley peir for halibut, this is the first shop stop. (unless the anchovies are running, more the less, the chovies are pin heads, im purchasing at the dock)
Other than that, the selection of gear, i didnt really take the time to look, but they have a few accesories that i needed. Great place! mom and pop shops will always have the greater goods.

This is hands down one of the best bait shops in the bay area. I have been buying my bait here know for about the last 5 yrs. Mike always has top quality baits available from grass shrimp, ghost, mud, pile worms, mud suckers, and bullheads along with many other frozen baits to choose from. The shop also has all the gear and tackle supplies you need for all types of fishing in the Bay and lakes. Always friendly and knowledgable of how the fishing is in the bay. Every time I buy my bait here it’s quality is great. I recommend you to buy all your fresh bait even tackle and gear at Mikes Bait.

I’ve always seemed to have overlooked this place driving by. They’ve been around for about 5 – 6 gears I believe. All your needs are *HERE* this is a ONE STOP shop as far as bait and gear. Nice selection of LIVE bait, weights, tackle, and etc. This place is awesome because they carry huge blood worms, bull heads, mud suckers, and more. This is definitely my favorite place for fishing gear.
