I cannot say enough about this tiny treasure of a store! It is small, but packed with unique and beautiful gift ideas. I generally find gifts for multiple people in one outing, and every one is something I personally would love to receive.
Tasteful, unique items for the home, that are not outrageous in price, but make you think carefully about what you are purchasing. Complimentary gift wrapping is simple but very appreciated.

This is a simple, matter-​of-​fact kind of unpretentious place, filled with gifts for people with discerning taste. It is another one of a handful of stores I always frequent when I am gift shopping. There’s something for everyone there, including me, which can sometimes be a problem :)

I can always find a gift at Pelago that I’m excited to give. And within my budget! I don’t know how they do it, consistently keeping such a fun, interesting inventory at multiple price points.

One of the best gift stores I have ever been in. Everything is HIGH QUALITY modern, unique stuff. There are things for men, women, kids. The owner has great taste!
I got this super cool adult coloring book as well as these silicone placemats. There are also lots of unique cooking gifts like Bacon chutney.

Stopped in at to pick up a birthday gift for someone at the last minute after a great meal at the Chowhaus (almost next door). As always, a great selection of unique gifts especially for a foodie. I happened to mention to Bill who was helping me that I needed some bubble wrap for something else that I had to ship, when I was paying for my items at the front counter he brought me up a huge bag of neatly folded bubble wrap. Talk about great customer service. He saved me a trip to a packing store along with having to buy $ 20. worth of packing material. I’m always concerned that the things I pick out might get returned because the receiver doesn’t like them but when I’m at peoples houses months later I see my gift either proudly on display or in use in the kitchen. Kudos to the buyer for picking out such useful, unique items.
If you need a reasonably priced present for someone or need to do holiday shopping this is the GO-​TO place in the Oakland hills.

I have been shopping there 8 years ago, and today, I went there ago.
People (owner) and employees are very nice.
They do have special things you won’t see in other stores.
Their mercandize is very reasonable price.

Our go to place for house gifts and «hard to buy for» ideas. These guys scour the earth and bring great and innovative items. I gave a glass bowl to my PA and she cried! Worth the drive and pain in the ass parking meters.

Today we purchased several gift items for clients. My lovely spouse has impeccable taste (ok, maybe not in partners) and each year picks out gifts for our clients. We shopped at Pelago last year and several clients remarked how pleased they were with our choices. The buyers for this store know how to find wonderful items in a variety of price categories.
This year we found several items. It was crowded, but the staff were helpful and wrapped them all while we waited.
We like to shop local, and Pelago makes it easy to purchase gifts for homes and businesses.

Small shop with a big selection of gifts that you just don’t find in most stores. Items tend to be unique, handmade, or whimsical. Prices are inexpensive to moderate for what you can purchase. This store has saved me on many occasions of last-​minute gift-​buying. Staff is pleasant. Gift-​wrapping is complementary. If you need a chimp-​shaped pizza cutter, beautiful handcrafted earrings, an octagonal glass serving bowl, nifty pocket tools — this is the place.

I’ve worked and lived in the village for basically my whole life. Somehow, I didn’t realize this place existed until this holiday season. I was glad I heard about it, because I was able to find quite a few good gifts here, for a surprisingly good price. I’m glad I now know it exists, so I can focus a lot more of my gift shopping to local businesses.

I’m never disappointed by an excursion here. The selection is really well thought out, and I always feel like I see unique little items that I haven’t seen before… hard to do. I especially appreciate the pricing. I have never seen an item I felt was too much for it’s value, but often see items that feel like a bargain. It does get completely crowded during the holidays, but there’s a kind of rhythm of how people walk themselves through the store in a clockwise pattern that makes it just fine.

A local smaller version of Collette in Paris for chic little unique gifts, they never fail me.

I absoluelty love this place. This is the ideal place to get gifts or just something for your home. The items in the store are reasonably priced and to be honest pretty cheap. I got a set of peony tea light candles for 12 dollars and a tea light log that came with tea lights for 12 dollars also. I love this store, enough said. It is really amazing what you can find in there. Even if you are just in town just drop by Pelago and look around. You will find something that catches your eyes, guarenteed. The place is kid friendly, they have very nice toys for kids. The employees are extremely kind and helpful. There is usually only one employee working at the store.

I have to agree with the other comments the store has very nice gifts but the service is terrible. I walked in the store twice in one day, I was never greeted the woman at the counter looked at me when I walked in and never bothered to say hello. As I browsed through the store a man (I believe the owner) stared at me for quite a few seconds and then proceeded to say, «hi». Not a warm place. I purchased a box of soap and a candle and the woman at the counter asked if I would like them gift wrapped I declined and she said, «good!»
In my opinion in these times stores should be happy people seek them out.

I am a gift-​giving superstar because of this store. when you give a gift from Pelago — your recipient will not only be thrilled but have that «crap my gift for her isn’t nearly as nice as this…» twinge. It’s all good, friend. I only paid like 23 dollars for it… which brings me to my second point: everything is 23 dollars.

Love. This. Store. I have been in here several times for gifts for other people and I have managed to find some pretty nice things. There is so much interesting stuff in here and the people are always so friendly. This store is definitely one of the best in Montclair!

Darling little store in Montclair. Stopped in and got so distracted the Vitamin shop next door, which was our primary destination, closed for the day.
The merchant for this store is picking out stuff they like … and not for some theme (Beach Getaway, Back to School in the crisp Autumn, Outdoor entertaining etc … which I see way too much of). Luckily this person has impeccable taste. You can spend $ 25 in this store and your gift will look like it was $ 50.
My friends may soon be getting gifts from here … so if you are someone I give gifts to, don’t come here and buy yourself the same thing … or buy me what I already bought myself. But if I don’t shop for you, feel free to come here and buy me something.

Need a gift for your friends/​family that seem to have everything?
This place is great! I bought a cool gift exchange gift (hand made spoons with exotic tea) and went back today for earrings.
They put the prices infront of gifts so you can easily browse through the store without having to pick everything up and turn it over.
There are baby, children and adult items. They have a variety of cookbooks, jewelry, beauty, and the unusual.
BONUS: They offer to gift wrap!

Pelago is one of my favorite shops to buy presents!
Everything is the store is special. I love the German glass bowls they have … they are so beautiful for salad at dinner. I get so many compliments on them.
The owners really have a good eye for things to give everyone on your holiday list. And they wrap everything too which makes it so much easier when I get home.
They have baby gifts … and just about everything in the store is under $ 30. You can find some great choices here.
