The best liquor store ever! Living in the neighborhood for a year the owner Sam has been more than welcoming. Giving recommendations to local restaurants and fun things to do for young adults. Also, if you need anything that reminds you of home aka seasonal beers Sam will order them.

This is probably a biast review only because I live right around the corner and I have never stepped into another liquor/convenient store in WOAK. Kinda sketchy most of the times because of the usual deals that happen in broad daylight. You will probably get man handled by some crackhead for coins. I just say I am paying with a CC and they usually leave you alone. I can see the demos changing and they have gone with the times(more IPA selections and Organic treats). Now they are even using an ipad to tender your sale. I know, I know, its not new technology but it shows you that these guys know that their clientele is changing. Needs a little remodeling but its not like I live there anyways. Usually you will see punks, to preps, drug dealers and hipsters doing what they do best: picking up booze. Im there waiting in line as well. Give this place a chance because the crew will not dissapoint.

The Sav seems to be a well run little business with a friendly group of people who work there. It’s pretty small, but they offer an impressive selection for the amount of space they’re working with, and prices are usually more than reasonable, especially compared to other stores like this one in West Oakland. They have organic bananas and potatoes for 35 cents, avocados for a buck that always seem the perfect ripeness to slice open and eat with a spoon, peppers, tomatoes, and a bunch of other fruits and veggies. They have a frozen section by the counter with dinner foods of all sorts and Ben & Jerry’s ice cream(and other kinds). They have a section of dry foods, mixes, cereal, canned goods, etc. They have all your breakfast foods, eggs, juices, milk and soy milk, and an impressive selection of drinks of all kinds. The beer and wine selection is probably best of all and is reasonable but still a few bucks more than you would pay for the same stuff at BevMo, naturally. Plus, they get points for being open way later than most of the stuff in West Oakland.

Super Ghetto, but they have the cheapest beer I’ve seen in west Oakland. 12 pack of Laginitas for $ 15 compared to $ 19 elsewhere. This place is pretty sketch though, so «get in and out quick»!
