I just stopped at this dump for a chicken burrito, plus four tacos for my cousins. I get home, and these asshats didn’t put my chicken burrito in the bag. Dude at the counter acts like I’m an inconvenience to him for ordering an 8 dollar burrito at 2am, but I concede, my fault for not checking the bag before I left. Fleas of a thousand camels upon you nevertheless.

So, firstly, they lose two points because, frankly, their carne asada and carnitas burritos are kind of bland. Plus, when you ask for chips they give you like eight of them in a tiny little bag, and they don’t always give you enough salsa. But they get a point back for having really tasty al pastor(spicy pork). But honestly, their burritos just aren’t all that spectacular; their tacos are really where it’s at, and the al pastor tacos, in particular, are quite good! Besides, burritos without pollo asado are often kind of underwhelming anyhow, and since this place, like many taco trucks, doesn’t do pollo asado, that’s just further reason to focus on the tacos here. I’d like to try their tortas sometime, though. Get there early because the wait can be long.

While the tacos are good, they’re not mind-blowing and they may not justify the wait. There are definitely other better taco trunks out there.

The carne asada tacos I had today were so good, I ate them as I walked home and immediately did an abut face to get one more before actually going home. Great salsa, and the ladies inside are lovely and wonderful also. Am going back tomorrow. I’m from LA and this truck makes me homesick.

Best tacos in the area. Being from LA where there is a Mexican place on every corner I have been sad that there are very few choices around, especially in the tri-valley. This taco truck is worth the drive to Oakland, the carnitas is amazing. The first time I came here my friends and I came twice in one night. Try it yourself.

Came back yesterday night for a quick bite before I left the Bay Area and it was packed, I wasn’t surprised because this place opens past midnight and the food is bomb! My mom ordered 8 carne asada tacos and made sure to ask for the condiments like the sauce, carrots, and jalapeños. Also they gave her chips because she saw that another customer asked for them and wondered if it was included upon requests which it was but it depends on the amount of food or what kind that you order. There’s stickers on the menu that are placed above the item ‘ASKFORCHIPS’ so next time if you’re there look for that if you didn’t know. The chips taste better than even regular chips, more like round Doritos cool ranch flavor?! I’m not sure but the wait was decent and worth every penny and the price of the tacos were expensive, better than what Sacramento has to offer. It was very good to the point that I finished all four of my tacos! Definitely recommend and the meat wasn’t dry.

Came to this place for the first time here in SF. It was pretty busy at 10:30pm on a Saturday night. Tacos were pretty pricey $ 2 a talk $ 8 for a burrito. They are known for having a 15 inch burrito but that’s another story. The tacos were good. The chicken was a little too salty but the asada was very well cooked. Overall I’d give it 4 stars just since it’s the first taco truck I’ve seen in SF.

3.5 stars: Good tacos but the wait might not make it worth it… In short, these were some good tacos but certainly not mind blowing. They’re simple but decently filled: savory meat, red onions, cilantro, and salsa, on top of two corn tortillas. Buy five and get some complimentary chips on the side. You do have to ask for additional salsa and picked vegetables(carrot, cauliflower, jalapeños) if you’d like those, but they are free of charge. The main kicker is: it is super slow. Plus, there is no seating, so you’ll either have to walk over to the lake(which, mind you, isn’t far) or take it home or sit and eat it in your car(which, apparently a lot of people like to do). Seems like you can order ahead, but you’ll still have to stand in line to pay for/pick up your food. And if you don’t order ahead, you’ll be kicking yourself since you’ll be waiting a while even after you order – for up to half an hour(I waited 25 minutes for 5 tacos).

One of the best Taco trucks in Oakland that is open late. When I’m near the lake doing a lap, I have to subconsciously try not to veer off course for a a savory Mexican treat. Careful ordering a super burrito here because it’s about as long as your arm and costs you a leg. It’s about the size of two super burritos at other places but about four times the flavor. That’s the inverse square law working for ya. There’s usually an uncoordinated line and the wait times are about as fast as you would expect from a taco truck in a residential neighborhood. Did I mention parking isn’t the best because you’re not supposed to stop on the same side street because of bus routes? Whatever you order, make sure you ask for salsa, chips, and jalapenos/carrots.

My absolute favorite spot for Tacos! This is conveniently located near Lake Merritt, close to where I live. I always get the Al Pastor tacos, with no onions and they have not failed me ever on that. Whenever I say no onions at any other taco place, they usually mess it up either giving me onions, or giving me no onions and no cilantro. Their chips are like doritos, but their home made! It’s so gooooood, you can’t find them anywhere else. Parking is a little tough especially when it gets really packed at night! The street where they park on is an all no parking zone but people park there anyways!

Came here with a friend after Unilocaling. Definitely do not regret! It is a truck so just be warned if you have never heard of it. YOu can quickly park right infront of it, and grab your food and go. You can also call ahead which is nice and you won’t have to wait! It’s not the lines that long its because they make it right there. I ended up getting the Regular burrito with chicken. my goodness it was DELICIOUS! Everything about it was good. The meat was nicely cooked and tasted very well. My friend got tacos and she thoroughly enjoyed it. Also when you ask for chips, it comes seasoned! Really good chips. It is like authentic doritos or something(dont kill me for comparing it to doritos). Pro tip: we got our food, reparked, and then walked along Lake Merrit. When the weather is nice you can sit on a bench and just chill. Definitely will be back again!

Super veggie burrito for $ 10.50 — fresh, size of my entire forearm, delicious, creates leftovers to be eaten any time of day. That’s all you need to know. Oh, and the rest of the food is good too! PS. Cash only PPS. Call ahead for quick pickup service

Food: I must begin by describing these tacos when I have said authentic before I have to correct myself because this is a whole new level of AUTHENTIC. In every aspect, here is what I mean. The salsa: the perfect level of spice and savour. The meats: loved the carne asada, carnitas, al pastor BUTBYFAR my favorite was BARBACOA. Each one had such a succulent flavor, but the barbacoa was just delightfully juicy. Servive: VERY friendly and attentive even with the long line. Location: it is a FOOD truck. Very simple. Well deserving of the 5 stars.

Located on 1st ave the fork in the road is possibly in my opinion, the best taco truck in Oakland. The best part of this truck is that you can call in your order if you are say, leaving a bar and drive down to pick up and pay for your order. Super convenient! Their nachos are stacked their burritos are good but, they’re popular for their tacos. The meats are cooked perfectly along with their tortilla. The price is super cheap as well and probably another reason why this truck is very popular; last night we ordered a total of 11 tacos and the final price was $ 20. If you’re in the neighborhood, leaving one of the many bars on grand/lakeshore or just want really good tacos at a competitive price this truck is a must. Oh yeah, don’t forget to asj for extra sauce upon your order.

Midnight & you’ll still find a long line of people. The taco truck sits close to Lake Merritt. I ordered some tacos with a friend around 10 at night. There were only a few people in line. We folded the back seats of her hatchback and left the trunk open as we ate. Others used the hood of their car as a table and enjoyed their food standing in the street. By the time we left, a little past midnight, there was still a long line of people and no space to park. It might sound sketch to be outside in the middle of the night in Oakland, but this place is pretty chill. There is a worker who hovers around the taco truck & seems to serve as low key security. Maybe people respect their food enough not to make a wreck. The meat is tender & the veggies are fresh. If there’s a line, it’s worth the wait.

Tacos mi Rancho is actually often referred to as the best taco truck in all of Oakland. They’ve got a strong cult following and there’s always a line… even at 2am. For the price, you’re getting a ton of food. They don’t skimp out on portions. They’re also open super late. The East Bay doesn’t have too much open late on a Sunday night, but Tacos mi Rancho will always be there… waiting to satisfy your hunger. Minus one star only because I never really feel totally safe here late at night, even though they have a security guard present. There’s just too much going on and often tons of loud, drunk and hungry people wanting to cut in line to get a burrito. Also, because I really love Tacos Sinaloa.

#3 Oh wow! What a great stop on my way home from hanging out with friends. I usually walk the Lake Merritt area to the bar end of things to meet friends on the weekend nights. I think that Tacos Mi Rancho is my favorite taco truck on the way home. There is always a BIG line, but that is okay, I know it attests to great food. I never mind waiting for perfection. I usually grab some chips and their green hot salsa with a cheese quesadilla. The quesadilla is always dripping with hot, melted cheese and a nicely crispy tortilla. The chips are all made on the spot to order so they are never without a delicious crunch. Did I mention this great salsa yet? Of course I did, because it is so fabulous. They offer several types of salsa but I am particularly fond of the green one. Yummy. They offer a little side of sliced, pickled veggies with every order too. The service is great, especially from a food truck on a tiny corner area of Lake Merritt. Who could say Oakland does not have great food – no matter what time of day or night? Stephani Smiles for Tacos Mi Rancho ;) #latenightstaple

Growing up in Hawaii, I never ate Mexican food till my first experience with the cuisine in college at Taco Bell. Never cared for it much after that experience but I was willing to try Mexican again at a real restaurant to see if I liked it or not. After many disappointing attempts, I gave up and never ate Mexican again till my friend nagged me to try it one more time in California. I was in love after that! The closer you are to Mexico, the better the Mexican food gets! After eating Mexican from NorCal to San Diego in SoCal, I have to say this this lunch truck has some legit tacos and burritos. They have a good selection of meats and they are open very late which is a plus. You are offered peppers and carrots when your order is ready. I feel safe coming here late at night to grab a quick bite. It’s a spot I frequent because of their location and hours. Only reason why I didn’t give them 5 stars is that they are inconsistent with what they charge customers. This last visit, I ordered 5 tacos in English. The sign said ask for chips and I did. They charged me $ 10.50 and I didn’t think anything of it. My friend ordered 5 tacos in his best attempt at Spanish after me without mentioning chips and they charged me $ 10.25. We both got 5 tacos and chips when our orders came out. It’s only a quarter but that adds up over time…

3.5 stars I am a sucker for things smothered in guacamole and sour cream, so already, I was on board with this taco truck. Came here on a Friday night around 1ish and it was packed. I ordered the following: –super burrito: carne asada, rice, pico de gallo, guacamole, salsa, cheese, sour cream, and no beans for me. This burrito was MASSIVE. It weighed as much as a 2 month old baby. Geez. Contrary to what I am generally accustomed to, they dice up their carne asada into teeny tiny bits. It had good flavor, but I wasn’t blown away. Because I opted out of the beans, my entire, 1.5 pound burrito was dominated by meat. I guess that isn’t necessarily a bad thing, but I was hoping that my very favorite parts i.e. guacamole, cheese, and sour cream would make a guest appearance. They didn’t. I was left with 1.5 pounds of diced up carne asada wrapped up in a tortilla. –super quesadilla: al pastor, guacamole, pico del gallo, cheese and sour cream. The quesadilla was pretty good. It wasn’t spectacular, but for what it was good. Okay. The one downside to this taco truck are their prices. I ordered 2 super burritos and each cost a whopping $ 12.50! Dude, that’s robbery. I don’t care how good a place is, burritos should not be that much unless they’re served on a plate with garnishes and a side of chips + salsa. My quesadilla was $ 8.00 and my total bill came out to something ridiculous like $ 33.00. But I do know it’s slim pickings for Mexican food up in the bay, so whatevs. Come here if you have a hankering for some pretty good Mexican food.
