Although I haven’t eaten inside, I enjoyed a fish taco as big as my head at the annual OC block party over the weekend. I’m not sure of the type of fish used but it was very tasty and included rice in the diced pieces. Two types of sauces, shredded lettuce and of course cheese! The shell was slightly crispy and good yet messy but I’m big on eating with my hands anyway! The crab cakes looked equally delish and to be mostly lump. Jays def needs more liking into!

Only ate at this restaurant during my time in Ocean City, it was that awesome. Everything is delicious from the calamari to clam chowder to fish tacos! The customer service was also amazing, the people who work there give great vibes, I enjoyed dining in and will definitely be coming back during my next vacation to Ocean City!

Totally meh. Tasteless. Expensive. Boring. Soft shell crab sandwich was on a breading overdose. Fish taco was a complete joke. It was on some sort of monster crispy tortilla with yellow processed cheese. Wait until you see it. Fries were in oil that was clearly old. Skip it. Service was friendly nonetheless. The inside is neat, clean and decorated very well. It’s really a shame. I hope I just went on an off day.

The fried Nutella &PB sandwich was amazeballs. And so were the Fried Reese’s. Basically everything here is fried. I got the fish & chips which was delicious. Please note service is really slow even when there’s not a lot of people in the restaurant — so be prepared to wait. Oh, and since everything is fried, the odor of fried food may stick to your clothing.

Had delivery from Jays and I have to say it was very good. The food was hot and was here in 30 mins as promised. Recommend the crab dip over the chips and the tilapia was excellent.

Was drawn here bc we found a coupon for here in one of those coupon books. Food and service very good but small inside an not good for large groups. Also tables were kinda dirty and dingy looking but good otherwise

It’s a greasy crab shack, not sure about the actual seafood quality, I had fried grouper which was good, the warm crab dip app was awesome, they should serve more chips w it.

This place provides a solid meal but I thought it was a tad overpriced. Its a super laidback spot. We waited way longer then we should have needed to but once the food came it kind of paid off. The place wasn’t crowded at all but our table was sticky and the food took a little long for my liking. The waitress forgot part of my husband’s order so we just cancelled that part since we already waited so long and the prices weren’t what we anticipated. The workers seemed to be more friendly with each other than with their customers but I don’t mind as long as my food is good and my family isn’t neglected because of their banter. We would go back again but just with deeper pockets and less hungry bellies so our wait will be more comfortable.

The food is very good, that I cannot deny. The restaurant prides itself on frying anything and everything. The food is very heavy, regardless of what you get. But no matter how good the food was, I can not ignore the horrendous service. The place might have been half full but the slowness of the waitress would’ve made you think otherwise. We waited probably 45 mins to get out food, and the waitress barely ever checked on us, and she dropped one of our entrees. Yes to the food. No to the service.

Good service as soon as we walked in we were seated and given menus. We both got shrimp in a basket with fries with old bay on them. It was good would have liked a sweet sauce to dip into but was offered cocktail or tarter sauce. Good experience overall.

Mostly fried food, with some salads. Very high quality fish. Fresh and flavorful. Great fries, too. And the best onion rings I’ve had in years. Prices are reasonable, service is slow. I look forward to returning to try the crab cakes.

I love this place! Food is fresh which means you will wait longer than usual but it’s worth it knowing they are preparing your food as you order it, not frozen! Price is usual to the other places around the OC I think. Also, the owner is always working! Poor guy needs a break :) but you know he cares about his business! The person who said something about it being run by 20 year olds… have you not been to eat anywhere other than jays?! Um the whole boardwalk and vicinity are 20 and younger, it’s summertime!!! Lol anyway, great place! A must try! We ve had the taquito, crab cakes, the soups and all were really good! Again, fresh food!!!

Went for lunch here in the beginning of July. We waited an eternity for our food, Only one cook and one server working and neither were in a hurry. The fish tacos were however the BEST we’ve ever had. Sooooo delicious. Despite the really really slow service… we’re talking over 2 hours for lunch and the place wasn’t crowded… we’d totally go back, the tacos were that good

Horrible service, mediocre seafood. That’s all you need to know. Bland, mushy, beer-battered offerings; overcooked grilled scallops; hot, sweaty, and less than favorable atmosphere. Not only was the food bad, we waited forever for it. Seems like the whole place is run by twenty-somethings. Drive a few more minutes and you’ll hit at least 5 better places. I wouldn’t recommend, and definitely wouldn’t ever return.

My family and I ate here last week, as well as once in 2012. The food is good, I had an ahi tuna wrap that was excellently prepared and delicious. We also had fish tacos and fish and chips which were good too. As previously stated in other reviews, the ambiance is lacking here, its a few tables and a counter but the good food makes up for it. The prices are good especially for a vacation spot where things are normally pricey. 5 of us ate dinner for 82 bucks with tip, not bad for the Jersey Shore.

I had the crabcake sandwich minus the buns. I was able to try the crabcake during the Columbus Day weekend block party. The crab was pretty good with nice chunks of crab. The portion was nothing big and it was more expensive that what they were charging on the boardwalk at multiple seafood spots(which i found out later). I would try it again, but i wouldn’t go out of my way.

My wife and I were excited to go to Jay’s Crabshack. Sadly, it turned out to be regrettable. I ordered a crab and seafood wrap, which turned out to be comprised of imitation crab meat and other common ingredients one would find on the back of a Sysco truck. I am puzzled to this day how a business can call itself a ‘crab shack’ and serve imitation crab meat. Our service was very slow and conducted by a very rude young man inflicted with what I have coined as «Superior Surfer Syndrome.» I was so frustrated with my(while moderately priced) terrible meal and the 50 minutes it took to slap together that my [our] main interest was to pay the check and go. When the not-so-Robert August-like waiter returned and handed me a check, I handed him my card without even looking at it. I just really wanted to get out of there. Upon which, he rudely insisted(in that ridiculous belittling way a man suffering from Superior Surfer Syndrome would do it) that I look at my check. I said«I trust you» and faked looking at it. After a few last words(folks like our waiter cannot resist having some jerk last mumblings) he disappeared with my check and made us endure another 5 unpleasant minutes in the nearly empty establishment. The whole thing was brutal. I would have given more mercy if the food was good; but, imitation crab meat in a «Crab Shack?» Give me a break. And so, I’d recommend avoiding this place. Having lived in Ocean City, myself, I am a proponent of the businesses on Asbury Avenue. This place, however, was a real disappointment, and my wife and I won’t be returning.

My wife and I wanted to try it based on the positive Unilocal reviews. We went there on a Monday in July t 8PM. The place was in bad shape. No AC on a hot night. Really dirty inside. No one greeted us. We stood at the front of the restaurant confused about what to do. A patron said«its seat yourself» in a way that seemed like she was real unimpressed with the place. My wife and I sat at a table. None of the tables were made and they were all dirty. A guy at the counter said, «we’re going to clean that» and then went back to getting an order together. We looked at our menus(it was pricey) and then we realized that no one was coming over to us. It seemed like the people behind the counter were all filling some order. I get that they probably had a big take-out order to work on but come on. We had the distinct impression: «fend for yourself, maybe we’ll get around to taking your order sometime.» My wife and I left. Really bad job on their part. With gems like Katina’s and Hula Grill in Ocean City, Jay’s is not worth it to us after that poor performance.
