Perfect bite on the boards for our family of 4. We especially loved the cheese fries, salad with awesome dressing, coconut shrimp, oysters, and sticky rice. Yum!

I think HG fills a niche in this oasis of Boardwalk food choices. More healthy options and a Pan Asian flavor make this spot stand out among pizza and sandwich offerings. And for us it served as a respite from rain and hunger. On this preseason visit we were the only patrons. We were greeted right away and told to order at the counter and have a seat. There are about 6 tables inside, and at least that many outside too. I can’t help but think eating en plein air with the sun and breeze would have improved upon our experience. Meals come with a side salad and sticky rice. The salad was fresh spring mix with cukes and onions dressed in a sweet vinaigrette that had a distinct coconut flavor. The rice was good and can be ordered plain or with a butter sauce. I would probably skip the butter sauce but it was ok. Trish ordered Hawaiian chicken, it was a few breast pieces in a sweetish sauce. I opted for swordfish, a thin piece but not a skimpy portion. Some items can be ordered in a smaller size, they serve as the kids menu. Fried shrimp were decent, small but a nice batter and not greasy at all. Chicken fingers were standard but the fries that came with it were perfect. There are some lighter options available too, salads and sandwiches for example. The cost seemed a bit high in comparison to pizza, but when comparing to entrees at more formal restaurants, not too bad. I would possibly return for their lighter items, but with kids in tow would most likely go elsewhere. 3.5 sticky Unilocal

Everyones pix on here plus the overall 4 stars had us try. My chicken dish was good but nothing crazy-go-nuts for. Loved the sticky rice w my sauce but everyone elses was far too buttery rich. Greaf salad — even daughter approved. Vince’s ahi tuna was good but again nothing over the top. Pineapple salsa was pretty good. Hate to say but just okay. Prob would not go back.

This place is awsome, definetly the best place on the boardwalk! The hula sauce is the best! I usually get the salmon with the rice and salad. They also have really good coconut shrimp and hula cheese fries. I will be back here may more times. They also do a great job with the take out.

This is my 1# place to eat on the Ocean City Boardwalk. The food is always fresh and I once ate here twice in one day(lunch and dinner) and even ordered the same thing both times. My main go to is the Firecracker Shrimp platter which comes with two balls of rice and salad. I absolutely love this dish. The shrimp, rice, and salad are all 5 out 5 stars for me. The shrimp has a nice kick to it and they give you plenty. The rice comes with butter sauce that is very tasty, but if you are interested in something different, you can get their huli sauce(basically teriyaki sauce) on the rice instead(I usually do one butter and one huli). And the salad is also pretty flawless. If it isn’t clear, this place is amazing. My only criticism is that the prices are a bit steep, especially for my dish which is about $ 14. I would eat here A LOT more often if it was a bit cheaper.

I had the shrimp, very tasty. I am not a salad guy but really enjoyed the freshness of the salad and the dressing. The rice was sticky rice cooked with butter basil and lemon. I hate rice but ate ½ of my serving. Will eat here again. It is cash only.

The food here was excellent!!! My husband and I love Hawaii so we felt we had to try out the Hula Grill!!! We had very high expectations and we weren’t disappointed. Now while we don’t think it was as authentic to the great plates you get in Hawaii it was damn close!!! We were in vacation and this was a great meal that we felt was just like a home cooked meal. For me after being away from home for a few days restaurant food could get to be «too much». Well the food at Hula Grill tasted like a great home cooked meal! I had the shrimp scampi and my husband had the chicken. Both were great!!! If I had to say 1 not so great thing, it would be that the rice was a little too«sticky» and I wasn’t able to finish it all and I love rice. But everything else was so great it still get 5 stars! I will be back!

Not a terrible experience but forgettable. Tuna was dry and didn’t have good flavor. Clam chowder was good but no better than other chowders so it was forgettable. Love the décor and creative food dishes, though.

Came here after seeing how great the reviews were. The dynamite shrimp were really good. Was not impressed with the coconut. When we came he order right away but after we sat down the line went nuts!

Really really overpriced with crappy waitstaff and one of the worst bathrooms in New Jersey. Everything is ala carte. The food is tasty, but they have to work on their prices. Also, it is nearly IMPOSSIBLE to get a table on the outside. The inside has no air conditioning so it is hotter inside, than out.

Wow, pleasantly surprised by this hidden gem. Actually thought this was a friends favorite restaurant on the boardwalk, but turns out they were talking about another place. But I’m glad for the confusion because I got a great meal. Each dinner comes with rice and salad. I had the Salmon which came out with a black bean and tomato salsa on top. The Salmon was excellent. Nice and moist. I really liked the sticky rice which had a «island» flavor to it. The salad was simple but it tasted good and the dressing was light and tasty. The service was good. You basically go inside, order what you want, then they bring it out to you. My only complaint, which they can’t really help since its in a small location, was the tightness of the tables outside. I was getting poked by the child behind me throughout dinner. Also the cash only was kind of a pain.

We enjoyed outdoor seating at hula grill twice this summer. I had Hawaiian chicken and enjoyed every part of the plate. The sticky rice was yummy and cooked perfectly. The chicken was grilled w a Hawaiian teriyaki type sauce. The salad that comes with it had a delicious(papaya I believe) dressing and the salad was very fresh. I also had the Manhattan clam chowder and it was great. The second time we dined here I had the crab cakes and would order them again. The outdoor seating is nice and the staff is super helpful and the meal was served very quickly. The con about this place is it can get packed quick. I Will go back every year!

Delicious. Tried Kenny’s Cake special, a salmon cake with a semi-spicy sauce on a bun. It was excellent little filler in the cake! Husband got the pulled pork platter. Delicious Thai BBQ sauce. Note: the sticky rice and fries are great! Update: This time had the coconut shrimp platter with orange dipping sauce. YUM! Sticky rice as good as ever. Hubbie didn’t stray and stuck to the pulled pork platter.

I have been back since my first visit and tried the salmon teriyaki. Amaaazing and I think they make the sauce themselves. Getting it over salad makes a healthy me and their papaya dressing is light and fresh! Not bad for $ 13(salad) or $ 15(platter)

Best French fries ever. Huli cheese fries. It’s covered in cheese and huli Huli sauce. The coconut shrimp plate is not bad. It comes with a side of coconut rice and salad. My fiancé ordered the pulled pork which I think the coconut shrimp is way better. It’s one of my favorite spots on the ocnj Boardwalk.

Came in with my girlfriend and her family on Memorial Day for dinner. Caught her eye when walking down the boardwalk because she remembered loving it the last time she was there. Got the chicken entrée. Sizable portion. Pretty good. We weren’t sure if we were supposed to tip or not and the layout was cramped and confusing. Cash only…

More like 3.5* Came here based on recommendations of Unilocal.Although Unilocal usually never disappoints, I have to say this time I was slightly disappointed. I ordered the Mahi dish and it was alright. The fish was overcooked. Salad was decent. It was ok, nothing that wowed me… I didn’t mind that it was cash only and that you have to pay upfront, but in terms of the food, I think they can do better. Prices weren’t exactly the most economical, so for the price, the food can be better. Next time, I’ll check out Ike’s Crabcakes for their grouper sandwich.
