The menu is pretty basic. However, if you want soup, they only offer one choice and the day I was there it was chili, which would have been good if I weren’t vegetarian and the only option had beef. My husband had waffles, which were soso. His home fries had dirt and toppings on waffles included canned or frozen berries, yuck. The coffee was lukewarm and the bun on my sandwich had definitely been microwaved. I don’t like my food microwaved and it was done to the point that I could barely chew parts of it. Kind pricey for mediocre food.

Very good breakfast in a competitive breakfast zone. Within a mile or so you have powerhouses like Beach Break and Swamis as well as Hill Street and Café 101. But this place has charm, and really nice people working there. They completely accommodated our young kids and the food was very tasty. Looking forward to warmer weather when we can enjoy and adult breakfast beverage on the dog-friendly patio!

Ordered the mimosas which were HORRIBLE. Coffee tasted like water. Pancakes tasted like rubber. Waitress was horrible, not rude just not that good of service and it wasn’t even busy ! Probably never eating here again.

The food is awesome, the service sucks. The waitress she takes more than 20 minutes to finally ask for you to order. That’s only because you have to waive her down, she talks tooooo much to ppl and since she’s the only one here it sucks to wait for so long. The coffee tastes like water, don’t order it you will find no flavor. I came here at 12:00pm Thursday February 4th.

This is one of the friendliest places in town with cute eclectic décor from The 50’s. The food is tasty and the portions are pretty large with so many choices the only problem I have is what to try ! The people that work here are Always friendly and accommodating. It is definitely one of the best breakfast places in town.

Food — hollandaise omelet and sandwich was oily. Both bland no flavor. Looked good and plenty of food. But, disappointed. Don’t think I’d eat here again. Can make better at home.

The best breakfast ever! We couldn’t decide so we shared the country fried steak burrito with eggs, hash browns covered with country gravy(amazing and huge). We would have been fine with that but we would have missed the Chorizo Benedict with avocado and the best salsa verde we have ever had. We had the home fries with it and they were the bomb! Jennie, the owner waited on us and she was a doll. Just love this place. I don’t have a hangover but a place like this with comfort breakfast food is my dream place after a night of too much drinking but be careful, they close at 2pm.

My mom and I were looking for a new spot to grab breakfast in Oceanside and when we walked into this place we immediately noticed and loved the décor. We came in on a Monday morning and we were seated right away. Everything was very clean and well kept. Katie was our server and we later found out that she is the sister of the owner. She was funny, welcoming, and provided a family environment that made us feel like we were eating at a friends house. I ordered the veggie omelet(egg whites) with home fries and the multigrain pancake and my mom ordered the special which was the country fried steak French toast. The omelet was really good and the veggies were fresh and flavorful. The hash browns are made with peppers and onions and crispy just how they are supposed to be. The multigrain pancake had good spice and flavor but was flat and dense(explains the 4 stars), not very fluffy like normal pancakes but I assumed that is because of the different flour they use. My mom LOVED the country fried steak French toast. The steak was sandwiched between two giant pieces of fluffy French toast which were covered in a delicious white gravy with an egg on top. We will definitely be coming here again!

It is wonderful to see Jennie’s Café blossom into a permanent establishment since its opening 1 ½ years ago. I always feel at home when I eat here. Tasty food and generous portions. Prompt and courteous service from all staff members. Jennie’s Café serves the best eggs benedict in town. Establishment is very clean. Restrooms are very clean and sanitary. Weekly chalk board specials are creative. Tasty selection of confectionaries. I simply love this place and I recommend anyone to eat here. As a faithful customer to this establishment, I urge people to ignore the negative 1 star reviews from miserable people that have nothing else better to do than bring others success down. If Unilocalers are wondering, I am a real customer. Now serving beer & wine!

The serving size was huge, the food was delicious, and the service was excellent. While driving to LA we became hungry and decided to stop here! What a great choice. The burgers are perfectly cooked, huge, juicy, and delicious. I loved the look and feel of this café.

I love coming to Jennie’s! The food is always good no matter what you pick on the menu. I love the home-style atmosphere which includes pieces handmade by Jennie and her family! Jennie’s is quickly becoming a staple in Oceanside!

It was a bit of a wait to be seated and have our order taken but the staff was hustling around trying to manage the Sunday morning crowd. I was a bit concerned that no one greeted us when we walked bit my date said they did and I just didn’t hear them. They décor was vintage meets modern diner. There was a custom Mason jar light fixture that was pretty neat. It was much nicer than I expected from the exterior. I ordered a California omelette which came with avo, bacon, sprouts, and I chose sliced tomato and a pancake for my sides.(Can choose from hash browns, home fries, cottage cheese, sliced tomatoes or fruit for $ 1.25 extra and then toast or has browns). My date ordered the dutch harbor plate which is ham, cheese, bell pepper onion scramble accompanied by home fries and a pancake. The home fries were seriously the best I’ve ever had(that aren’t homemade by me). I often find that potatoes are under seasoned, under cooked, cooked too much. It seems like in big batches it just hard to find good home-fries. This place blew me away. I wish I wasn’t on a low carb diet because I would have eaten a plate of potatoes. I would have given this place 5 stars but service was slow and we never got a drink refill. I had to get up and walk over to the server filling ketchup bottles and ask for more water.

The food has always been on point at this restaurant. Jenny knows what she’s doing! !! Great atmosphere, great service, and best café on coast highway. The charger burger was amazing. Avocado, cheese, bacon on grilled sour dough. It was bomb! And you can get ½ french fries and ½ onion rings.

After driving around looking for a lunch spot to try we finally found a place that fellow Unilocalers liked and didn’t have a 30+ minute wait. We were sat quickly and decided to sit outside and enjoy the beautiful weather. Drinks were ordered and brought out quickly. Only problem at this point was they brought my 4 year old her drink in a regular large cup. She spilled it trying to hold it within 5 minutes. Thankfully we were outside. We were brought a replacement in a children’s cup with a lid! I ordered the ABC(avocado, bacon, and cheese) omelette with home fries and sourdough toast. The omelette was prepared just right and not overlooked and was full of ABC goodness. They did not skimp at all. The home fries were so good and crispy with peppers and onions. I loved the seasoning they used on them too. My daughter loved her pancake(made to look like Mickey Mouse) and scrambled eggs. They allowed us to sub the meat for an extra egg for her breakfast at no extra charge. My son just wanted some fries and those were good too. They seemed like they had a light batter or coating making them light and crispy. My husband decided on a club sandwich and a perk here is you can decide which meat you want. He went with roast beef and got half and half fries and onion rings. I know he must have liked it since he gobbled it right up. This place was delicious and besides the drink hiccup we enjoyed the food and service.

A nice little place near the ocean. We stopped by for lunch and decided to enjoy the ocean breeze and sit outside(we’re used to Bakersfield air). I ordered a roast beef club with ½ onion rings, ½ fries. The sandwich was good, roast beef was cooked all the way(I hate red roast beef) and the bacon was very good. There were good portions of each on this double-decker sandwich. The fries were very good, the kind that were either battered a bit or double fried. The onions rings were the star of the show though. They seemed hand battered and were cooked to perfection. My only complaint was with the service. They were very friendly, but we did wait a while before we were able to order and they were not very attentive to the drink refills. Maybe this is because we were outside, but that shouldn’t matter in my opinion. I’d go back if I lived in this area!

Nice café on coast highway. Sit at the counter, have breakfast, and pretend I’m in an old fashioned diner. The décor is nice, place is clean, staff is friendly, service good, food good. Keep ordering my usual(Steak medium rare, eggs over easy, hash browns, and sourdough toast), so I can not say too much about the rest of the menu. Had a very good omelette once !

My husband, our pup and I decided to come here Christmas Eve morning. A chill morning before we get ready for our Christmas Eve family and friends dinner held at our home. Since we had our pup with us we sat outside. It was a chilly morning but we managed to enjoy our breakfast(food got cold quick of course). There are not outdoor heaters. Anyway, I entered the place just to let them know we will be seated outside. We were quickly greeted outdoors with menus. Bless the gals hearts for bearing the chill to serve us. They never forgot about us and frequently checked on us. Thank goodness they were dressed warmly. I am a simple French toast kind of gal. The French toast was perfect and I had no problem eating every bit of it up! Of course I have to have some protein with my breakfast so I got a side of bacon and sausage patties. My meal also came with hash brown(I ordered it extra crispy), cooked perfectly. There is plenty of seating inside and about 5 or 6 picnic tables outside, a couple of umbrellas. It is next to the main, busy, street but there is a nice wall for separation. I will be back to try more on the menu. Thank you for the attentive and friendly service. Keep up the great job,
