They serve people old food! Very dirty restaurant! Used to work their and i would never eat there after what I’ve seen!

Very good little café on the coast highway.
I opted for the fish and chips. Glad I did. Though the sauerkraut was a little sweet for me, the batter on the fish was light and very delicate. The fish very mild and the almost steak fries were meaty and cooked just right.
A friendly and attentive waitress did a great job. I would definitely go back to try some other lunch fare while I rush around to appointments. Way better than fast food.
Love their chalkboards with specials and some cute sentiments.

The service was great. The portions are generous. The food is delicious. I had the California Benedict (avocado, packed egg, English muffin, bacon and hollandaise sauce) and shared a cinnamon roll. Both were so big and yummy (Fresh Start has the best hollandaise sauce I’ve ever tasted)! Bibi was our server and was absolutely delightful. This will be mine and my mom’s new regular brunch joint.

Here in San Diego on vacation with my family so of course we’re just trying to have a good time. And the entire staff here made that possible for us. We ordered 9 breakfast entrees and they were out on time and clearly fresh. Everything was correct and delicious. The staff was super attentive we got our coffee refilled about 7 times. Tables were bussed promptly. I recommend this place to anybody reading this. I’ll definitely be coming back next time I’m down here.

We tried out the Start Fresh Café today for brunch. We stopped there on a whim and were so pleased to discover this hometown cozy diner in downtown Oceanside. My husband had the Farmers scramble and I ordered the pancake combo. The pancakes were fluffy and buttery and my sunny side up eggs were cooked beautifully. The service was cheery and prompt. We will definitely be coming back here again.

Ordered the Start Fresh omelette. Fresh ingredients (bay shrimp, jack cheese, hollandaise sauce and lots of bacon) make this one a winner. Sourdough toast was buttered perfectly too.
Hubby ordered chicken fried chicken which was quite tasty as well. Cooked perfectly and the country Gravy was delish!

Cons:
I don’t think I would say this is a CON and It’s hard to pinpoint any cons, but if I had to suggest something, I would add a tad more lemon to the hollandaise sauce to balance out the richness from the egg (but that’s just me being critical of hollandaise sauce since I happen to really like it).

I love the breakfast everything is so good! My favorite thing is the biscuits and gravy.

Great service… fresh smooth tasting coffee. I have been here three times. Chicken fried steak, hashbrowns and eggs over Medium were perfectly cooked. Their potatoes are done right golden and crispy. I’m trying the menudo today.

Country style biscuits (biscuits & gravy, 2 eggs & hash browns): Best hash browns I’ve ever had — cooked very well. Biscuits were so dry and crumble. I had a few bites and was done. How can you mess up the biscuits??? The gravy needed more salt, though I do require very little salt in general. Scramble eggs were overcooked and tasteless. Not so good.

I think it’s more expensive breakfast than others nearby — especially for both quality and quantity. For the $$ price and taste, I rather go to others.

Great food and great service! We were greeted right when we walked through the door. Ordered the sourdough breakfast sandwich with an over medium egg and hash browns. So delicious! Portions are huge so come hungry.

This was a cute mom & pop restaurant. Service was good and fast, but our server wasn’t sure if there was apple juice. It’s weird, cause it says it on the kid menu, and she didn’t offer to find out. Oh well, not a big deal. I got the cinnamon roll, it was so yummy. freshly baked! My husband got the Denver omelette, it was well portioned even after we split the plate. Prices were reasonable, and if I lived around this area I would come back.

I’ve been here a few times and have never been disappointed! The food is always a crowd pleaser, as they have traditional breakfast selections as well as fun choices like Honey Bunches of Oats French toast and chicken and waffles. Last time I got the vegetarian scramble and LOVED it. The veggies were fresh and the serving size was crazy filling.
Today, I felt like splurging on calories so I went for the chicken and waffles. Definitely a good choice! The chicken was some of the best fried chicken I’ve had anywhere, crispy as could be on the outside and really moist on the inside (even the breast). The breading/​batter on the chicken wasn’t heavily seasoned (dare I say it was on the blander side) which would have been a shame as a standalone, but it was perfect paired with the maple syrup and butter from the waffles. No competing flavors. The waffle was delicious as well.
The servings are always on the larger side. The chicken and waffles comes with four pieces of chicken (leg, wing, breast, thigh) and a giant Belgian waffle. The rest of my group had plenty of sides to take home or share.
On top of all that, the wait staff is always friendly and happy to see you, even if it’s your first time there :)

So far this has been my absolute favorite breakfast spot in town. I always go with my boyfriend and every time the waitress is the same cute, friendly and bubbly blonde lady. She kicks ass at her job! She is always the ONLY waitress in the entire place waiting on EVERYONE and always checks on her customers to make sure everything’s great. Always gives refills in reasonable time. And makes the entire experience just wonderful. I over heard her saying she worked at Joe’s Crab Shack as well. Wow what a hard working women! The food is amazing! Great portions too, good coffee with great creamer options.
I LOVE this place and LOVE the sweet blonde waitress who kicks ass at her job! No doubt I’ll be back again!

The food is delicious and filling. Typical American breakfast. The filled hash browns were amazeballs. I just wanted a small breakfast but couldn’t stop eating… and the plates are huge. The service was very friendly and made sure we don’t run out of water to wash these 2 pounds of breakfast down.
I wished the place had more healthy food options though, because now I’ll be tired all day. Totally worth it though.
If you swing by check out the stuffed hash browns.
The interior is clean and typical dine in. The restrooms are clean as well.
I can recommend this place for breakfast and I guess lunch, but unfortunately they close at 2pm.

Ate here on 10÷27÷15 We were surprised they sold menudo. It was very good! Service was great! Kelly our server was very good. No complaints. We will be back!

This place recently came under new management and they are so much better! The food quality is great and so many options! The staff is attentive and kind! Had no problems with my first visit, will definitely return soon for brunch!
Definitely recommend this place! You will not regret it. Great quality food at cheap prices!
