Place looks crowded now with too much décor trying too hard! The cashier seemed clueless when taking my order. No greetings of Aloha or anything… I’m from Hawaii so I know this place and workers know nothing about Hawaii or Island style feeling. I asked for Katsu and a side of spam and Portuguese sausage, my order comes out with Katsu and two musubi’s. Lol Katsu is dry and Mac is weird tasting. The cashier didn’t understand my side order and called the manager who speaks limited English because she is Thai. Try fixing that… Lol Overall, you can’t sell Maui BBQ or island style food if your staff is ignorant of the culture or food. This place is just so wrong unless you don’t mind eating at a Wanna Be place… I just need to be real — I don’t recommend it!

Tried this place on a whim. Was just walking by and my son and I were hungry so we went in. Immediately greeted, super clean, super friendly. Food was so good, better than L&L I think. Sort of expensive, but a lot of food for the price. Had leftovers… yummy

Still delicious! The Chicken Katsu tastes amazing and the Mini plate is definitely enough food. This time the staff was exceptionally friendly so I’m giving a solid four stars. I will be back!

This place has recently come into new ownership and has really gotten way better. It used to be pasaable hawaiian but now it is pretty amazing! If you want authentic Hawaiian plate lunch this is the place!

The Kalua pork and BBQ chicken were really good.(Although next time I’m going to ask for them to cook the cabbage with the Kalua pork). Ordered the spam masubi but it didn’t taste that great. Personally I prefer L&L’s spam masubi. Not bad and the atmosphere is clean with an island feel. Would come back again.

This place has gone down substantially. I use to enjoy coming here but they recently changed ownership, at first it was great with good customer service but it’s been going down hill since. Their prices have gone up, quantity has gone down, and the quality of the food is poor. It’s also not as clean as it used to be. The tables were dirty and sticky. The condiment counter had spilt sauce and hadn’t been wiped down in a while. Whoever was working the front on 4⁄24 in the mid afternoon had a bad attitude and was clearly not doing her job.

Better than L & L Hawaiian BBQ. Ordered the mini chicken katsu lunch special — tasted great and the katsu potion was huge. You get a lot for the price. The macaroni salad could be better though, a bit bland for my taste. Over all, this place is great.

Not necessarily my favorite hawaiian bbq place. I’d rather go to L&L. I ordered a Loco Moco, the beef was overcooked and rice was dry, the gravy was watery. It bummed me out cause I didn’t want to finish the plate, usually my appetite usually allows me finish it. I did however enjoy the spam masubi. I need to try other dishes, as of now, not too impressed.

Awesome Hawaiian BBQ! So glad I found this gem. The store is super organized and clean. I love the décor! Prices are decently but the lunch special is unbeatable. I ordered the mini beef BBQ, came with a large amount of beef! The mac salad was delicious, a little too watery but still good. My favorite part of this place is the on table teriyaki sauce. Most places charge for extra sauce so its nice to have it available. Over all, clean place, nice people, tasty food, good prices!

This is definitely one of my favorite Hawaiin BBQ spots. The food is fresh and tastey. They provide a variety of sauces(ikatsu, shiracha, soy sauce, ketchup mustard, hot pepper etc.)to go along with your order. I’ve eaten here several times and am pretty much a regular customer at this point. I usually order the Atkins plate(since I’m dieting) but I have had their chicken katsu(best around). In fact, you can not go wrong with any of the food choiices that they offer. The atmosphere is always nice and the personal are so friendly. I highly recommend it whenever you have the taste for Hawaiin BBQ. Oh I almost forgot, the price is right especially the lunch specials. So stop on by there and enjoy some good food!

Portions and value. I come here for lunch regularly because what you get for a Chicken katsu lunch special fills even the mightiest of bellys. Here’s a lunch guide: –Mini Chicken Katsu: Gorilla fist sized mountain of chicken. 1 scoop of rice. 1 baby container of mac salad and fountain drink for $ 6.75(after tax) –BBQ Chicken or BBQ beef gets you the same sides but less meat and a cabbage bed. So always come for the katsu if you’re really hungry. But if that doesn’t do it for you, for $ 3 more you can get the full sized BBQ mixed plate. The taste of the food from this place is a B+, combined with the huge portions and decent price makes my review a 5 star rating. They got a nice staff too :) –Update– Why does the burgers from this place taste better than IN-N-OUT or FIVEGUYS? Not only that, but it’s one huge monster burger with a mountain of fries and a drink for under $ 7. Have you tried the Chicken or Spam Masubi? SOOOOGOOOOOOOODDDDDDDD. The Matcha green tea smoothie? AHHHHHHHHH makes me cry everytime. Masterpiece.

Came here a couple weeks ago and ordered a cheeseburger and fries. It was very messy and not put together and the fries had a fishy taste from the oil. I came back and had the Chicken Katsu and my boyfriend had the Hawaiin BBQ mix. I was pleasantly surprised with the food. My only request would be to have more Katsu sauce. Don’t come here for a burger but come here for the bbq plates and Katsu plates!(:

Love this place I always get the same thing Katsu Chicken(all white meat chicken breast) & Breaded Mahi plate it’s really yummy especially when your craving Hawaiian. Mac salad and rice are simple and great. I believe it’s changed owners and raised it’s prices ever so slightly but it is worth it and in my opinion better than it was before

First off, this place would get zero stars. Place was disgusting. Kitchen Chef and some disrespectful cashier lady were making the visit very uncomfortable. Super unsanitary as she touched her constantly and on her phone. She then talked about her pregnancy and how much she was puking. That was by far the most unpleasant restaurant visit I have ever had. Definitely not coming back to this place. First and Last time

…I swear this menu is the same as L&L. Even the drink choices seem similar… That first statement might have answered all of your questions, so here are some key differences: — Everything(to my knowledge) is served to go. Everyone who received their food while I was there(4 different people), including myself, got their food in a to-go Styrofoam container. — Their mac salad comes in its own small container — how cute. — BBQ beef plate: the shredded cabbage underneath was seriously shredded. More cooked than I’m used to as well. — Plenty of space. Actually, a whole lot of space if you ask me. You could bring 10 people and there would still be plenty of seats around. — Very, very, very clean. — Condiments are near the soda machine — although two high tables had them on the table… I don’t know why. Overall, it was good. Nothing bad, nothing to be crazy about.

Don’t eat here. Go to an l&l or Teri Café is awesome too. How do you mess up chicken katsu? Decided to come back after one bad experience with the less than mediocre food, and it was a mistake again. Don’t let this place be your marker for Hawaiians/island food. There are zero Hawaiians here and everyone in the front(if there DOES happen to be someone manning the cashier desk and not eating or yelling in the back) speaks/yells at each other in spanish. Why? Don’t come here. There are a handful of other Hawaiian restaurants within a short radius that are way more decent.

This is a good place to come to when I’m too lazy to make it myself at home lol. The chicken katsu is what i seem to always order and its really good. My husband always gets the bbq mix plate and he is always happy and satisfied. He says its not as good as mine but it comes 2nd lol. This place is clean and updated. Most places are run down and dirty but this place is a place to sit and eat at too. This is the closest place that I can come to without having to fly home to Hawaii where I can get authentic tasting local hawaiian plates.

The menu was laid out by entrée protein type. Chicken is my go to so I went straight to that section. That had chicken katsu, BBQ chicken and a few other options. I went for the bqq mini plate. The mini plate was less expensive at only $ 5.99 and included a scoop of mac salad and a scoop of white rice. As you can see from the pic it was plenty to eat. The regular plate comes with two scoops of rice and was a few dollars more. They have big squeeze bottles of teriyaki, sriracha, chili paste over by the drinks and I love me some spicy so I grabbed the sriracha. All of the tables in the place were two tops so it made everything seem kinda spread out. I’m sure if you had a big group you could just scootch a bunch of little tables together. It was fine since I was dining alone, just me and my sriracha. The place was clean and very open. The service was fast and friendly. English skills were a bit rough but still very easy to place my order and got everything I needed quickly.

I should have checked Unilocal before eating here. I’d i saw the ratings and reviews I wouldn’t have. This is the most horrible Hawaiian BBQ I’ve ever had. Sad sad sad… BBQ Beef was tough with hard inedible prices. Chicken was ok but the macaroni was too sweet and tastes rancid. Thank goodness I went with a toddler who wanted fries… that’s pretty much what we both ate. They definitely need improvements! Try SURF Bros Hawaiian! Much better

Hit or miss at this place, depending on what you order. Get: chicken katsu, spam musubi, rice Avoid: shrimp and scallop Just ok: fish and macaroni This used to be L&L two years ago. The owner decided to drop the franchise name and now it is Maui Hawaiian bbq. I haven’t eaten here until now so I can’t say how different it is from what it was. But for one thing I can say for sure is how my dinner just went… I ordered take out, like most people do when they have Hawaiian fast food. The chicken katsu was crispy on the outside with tender, juicy meat inside. The katsu was flattened like chicken steak and in certain parts the batter was a tad bit thicker but it was still alright. Spam musubi was yummy! The seaweed was still crispy and they put a little soy sauce between the spam and the rice. Do not order the seafood. That’s when they completely screwed up deep fried food — the batter was extremely thick and floury. I just spit it out. Not to mention the seafood wasn’t fresh at all. The scallops were stale and mushy and the shrimp didn’t have any color or flavor at all! I felt like I was chewing plastic… Ew. That was unacceptable. The fish was just ok. The flavor of macaroni was ok but the pasta was overcooked. Meh. Service was prompt. The guy doesn’t speak fluent English but we could communicate. Stick to the chicken katsu. No seafood!!!
