We absolutely love this place not only is the sushi great but the atmosphere is what drives us back!
The sushi chef is excellent and loves to have a good time with his clients. He is generous when it comes to fun! Waitresses are kind and very attentive!
Definitely recommend this place for Sushi, saki and laughs !

If I could give zero stars I would… worst experience and sushi I’ve ever had. Ordered a salmon skin hand roll… the salmon skin was on the plate outside of the roll and what was in the roll was complete garbage. Ordered my son a lemonade which took 30min to get! The Agadashi tofu was disgusting… and the sauce they served it with tasted like dirty dish water. So many other great places to go… avoid this place!

Service here was excellent. My 2 year old was being a little hard to handle on Valentine’s Day and try did everything possible to accommodate us and make him happy. This was one of the best customer service restaurants we have been to in the area. Food was delicious and exactly what I wanted. My only negative is that they served us sake in a wooden cube. It’s seemed so unsanitary. We will be going back

Stopped in for a quick bite before heading to Trader Joe’s & fell in love with the courteous staff & generous portions of fish on their sushi rolls & sashimi. I definitely will return soon.

Best sushi I’ve had in Oceanside. It’s fresh and the service is great! Gets pretty busy on a Friday though, so plan accordingly!

Thanks to Unilocal I found myself here last weekend before a reggae show at rookies :) It was packed when we arrived yet we were sat pretty quickly. Although I would recommend the sushi bar seating (of course) we were sat at a table as it was the first available. Nice service, many compliments of the chef items (awesome !!) and delicious sushi rolls and nigiri !! Wish this little gem was closer to me !!

So good that I have to express it publicly, even though it conflicts with my desire to keep it our favorite secret little sushi place with a short wait for the bar.
Steve, Jamie, the rest of the staff, and their sushi, are all phenomenal in every way.

Great service over all! Sit at the bar. Trust me. The owner/​chef is so great with all of the customers and gets orders out so quickly. The pieces of fresh salmon and ahi sashimi were amazingly fresh and the portions were definitely filling. We also had the lobster roll, tempura shrimp roll, and the london roll. No complaints whatsoever. Definitely my new sushi spot in Oceanside.

5 stars, hands down. Ok, I’ll admit I’m a bit of a food snob so when I was taken here I wasn’t expecting to be impressed. And then… Steve happened. I’m not going to tell you how amazing and fresh their sushi is or how Steve makes you feel like you’re a friend of the family and serves you with complimentary sake, mini appetizers and endless entertainment. Go there and experience it for yourself. Just check the hours first, they close after lunch and re-​open in the early evening for dinner. Enjoy!

This place is a little hole in the wall. I visited them on my last day of finals to celebrate my friends and mine very last final for our undergrad years. My friend recommended this place and at first I was like, «ew, they have good sushi here?» When we ordered, they gave us a free sample of sake and a sample of some delicous appetizer. I’m not sure what the appetizer was, but it was extremely good. The quality of the sushi was extremely high and very tasty. Now I can see why my friend recommended this place. Definitely coming again!

I wasn’t impressed. The sushi tasted fine but it didn’t feel fresh texturally. Almost like the rice had been sitting out for a long time and the fish wasn’t kept chilled. The building its self wasn’t dirty but it was dingy.
All of that being said, the service was quick and polite and the prices were ok. I will probably go again and see if maybe my experience was just a one off.

If that’s what you’re looking for, sweet, then this is the place.
But not for me.

We have had the most special experience.
All the staff was super friendly, the food was excellent and in no shortage. Everything was fresh and the chef stands behind his statement printed on the window:“My sushi is better than chicken”.
It turns out its true!
My favorite one was the lemon roll but there’s something for everyone.

I’ve eaten here a few times, dining in and ordering take out. Last night I called in for take out. Teri Café down the street was packed and I didn’t want to wait in line, so I called up Sushi N Joy and placed an order with them instead.
I ordered:
— spicy scallop roll
— spicy tuna roll
— total: $ 13.93
The rolls were big for what I ordered, with extra scallops sprinkled on top. Extra brownie point for presentation in the to go container! Kind of weird this place has a sign stating they don’t have chicken or beef, but you can order salmon teriyaki! They’re rolls are tasty!

what can i say for a strip mall joint this place has it going on.
I was a little hesitant to go in but the reviews and a personal referral from another Unilocal member pushed me forward.
I sat at the sushi bar and Steve is the resident sushi chef. I was given a plate with ginger, wasabi, fresh calamari salad, and cucumber salad. and baked mussels stuffed with crab.
the chef shared saki shots with me and after my meal I was given a cold sake in a saki box.
I ordered tuna sashimi and salmon sashimi the plates were massive!
I ordered spicy scallops, the standard 2 scallop rolls were over loaded with baby scallops flowing onto the plate delightful! I also had a spicy tuna roll with sriracha sauce.
I finished this meal with my personal favorite, Teka maki not only did the tuna stick out of the end pieces, way out, but they used a couple more pieces of tuna as a garnish!!! bonus fish!
I spoke with the guy next to me and he said he has came here for 5 years.

Loved it! 4 stars for no décor –1 but don’t take away from the food as it is top notch.
I believe they feel they make the food rock the rest is superficial.

They get 4 stars exclusively for the food and service. The restaurant facilities are not special at all. I wish they would invest in an upgrade, deep cleaning, and remodel. But let’s not get stuck on that…
Steven is the man. This place is obviously «the joint» for regulars. There are photos of regulars posted on a wall. There are ceiling décor with customers hand written dedications to the staff and chefs. Customers call Steven (the sushi chef and owner I think) by name and ask him to serve them whatever he wants. These are trade marks of a local’s, hole in the wall, «gem».
A friend of mine brought me. She bragged enough about it. Btw she’s my boojie friend and the «remoteness» of this restaurant surprised me to be one o her picks. She knows Steven by name as well, and they teased me together for being a newbie. It was in good fun. We came at 1pm and it was pretty packed.
Let me start with their starters. They provided a plate w ginger, wasabi, fresh calamari salad, and cucumber salad. AND two baked mussels. Free. That sets them above their competitors right there. Never had that before. Tasty too!
Then, their menu. Pretty nice. Strait forward sushi… With amazing flavor. Top of the line. I ordered the lobster roll (California roll topped with lobster) omg, so good. No soy sauce needed. They had several other rolls available that looked very good to order. I will come back again, for sure. And then as we were paying, Steven gave us a dessert roll for free. Not sure what it was, but it was good. I love that.
