I cant believe one of my favorite fast food places served me a burnt corndog and barely put any chili and bacon on our bacon chili cheese dogs. Super upset because there was no line and this is our comfort food. Pretty unbelieveable for the prices they charge.

Wow What can you say about Wienerschnitzel ? It’s the only national chain Hot Dog Stand that I know of. In a world of a Burger Stand on every corner that’s unusual. I’ve been eating their Famous Chili Cheese Dogs w/onions for over 50 years.(Gotta Have The Onions) They have never changed the recipe in all that time. They always taste the same. Is it the best Dog ever, probably not but there are many of us out there that love the little dogs. If you haven’t had one in awhile give it a try. This store on Coast Highway in Oceanside California is an Original store in an original Wienerschnitzel A Framed building. Pretty cool. Enjoy

Good dogs. My favorite dog place. I like the chill or plain mustard dogs. Dogs are good. Will be back. They serve good iced tea as well. Right by the beach.

I love wienersnizel. I have been to many and they all have been delicious except this one. I thought they were just having a bad day, but today was the last straw. The food was not fresh, my jalapeño poppers were missing cheese, several were just fried pieces of skin, the hot dog tasted old and gross, and the burger was under cooked. I hate this location and it is a disgrace.

Never had so little chili on a chili dog before. Der Wienerschnitzel is my hubbys favorite but this one only put enough chili on to cover half the hot dog barely. One only had about 1TBSP of chili. Next time I’m in Oceanside I’ll find another location.

Service sucks, dirty, slow, the staff forget to get you everything and then act like you’re wrong about correcting them.

There is nothing better than the original Chili Cheese Dog… except maybe two of them with Fries and a coke :-) This has location is the closest to my home… so has been my standout go to… when the craving hits. Over the 17 years I’ve eaten here… I’ve met an interesting eclectic group of patrons in the«Patio Dining Area». Yesterday I drove 13 miles to the Beach to have my standby… the 2 Chili Dogs with Fries and a Coke… and… again met some fun diners … enjoying out Polar Vortex 77 degree Winter day. After the other patrons left… a huge Crow showed up… and brazenly cleaned up the table less than two feet from me. But… the real new«News» is the franchise has changed hands. It has always been friendly… but never has been really well maintained … or clean. Low and behold… the new owner came out… bussed the entire area… washed off the tables… and came over and introduces himself. Super nice young man! Really fun to see a new business owner that is building a loyal clientele. I’ll look forward even more to my return visits… knowing that someone really cares about his customers… and after meeting him… I looked around even more closely… new paint… new flowers… and smiling employees. Thanks Der Wienerschnitzel… I’ll be back often!

Next to Top Ramen, I used to live off of Wienerschnitzel when I was in college… I remember getting a chili dog, chili fries and a drink for .99 — it was the best meal ever. Let’s fast forward to present day and just say that many moons have passed but still, I love me some Wienerschnitzel chili fries and chili dogs. Today, that meal now costs $ 6 and that’s without a drink but it was worth every dollar and calorie! I finished a long run nearby and saw this on the side of the road so decided to just cancel out the workout by indulging in some fast food. YOLO! I haven’t eaten at a Wienerschnitzel in years so was shocked to find out they now have Angus premium chili dogs. I decided to give it a try and also ordered chili cheese fries. Once in hand, I drove to the beach to enjoy this special treat. First off, everything was made to order and was super fresh so I was really thankful I decided to enjoy right away rather than drive the 10 miles home to Carlsbad and eat when all was soggy. French fries were super crispy and there was just enough chili for each bite of the fries. The chili dog seemed much bigger than the original but again, its been so long since I’ve eaten here so I can’t remember if this was the size of the original. The hot dog had a great snap to it and the chili cheese… nom nom nom nom! I was in heaven and while I know I wouldn’t be able to finish it… I secretly wished I had ordered another chili cheese fry. I’m glad this joint is in Oceanside and not in my hood in Carlsbad.

The prices are fair and the food is pretty good. Understand that you’re ordering hotdogs at a fast food place. You’re going to get a sloppy, thrown-together hotdog; that’s what you’re paying for. The upside is that it tastes really good! In my experience here, the food came quick and the employees were very nice. This was my first visit to one of these restaurants and I wasn’t displeased by any means.

Good Hot Dog, weird building as drive thru is right in the middle of the building! The Strawberry and Blackberry lemonades are good as well.

First off, you have to consider the really cheap prices and what you get is pretty close to what you pay. The hot dog pastrami was pretty good actually, with cheese and a spear pickle which gave it some crunch. The Angus chili dog was meaty, tasty dog and a sesame bun even. The chili burger was just ok for the price and the chili cheese fries were soggy. The regular chili dog was missing in action, probably still sitting on the counter… oh well, not worth going back for $ 1.29.

Went to Wienerschnitzel last night to feed my craving of a hot dog and my fiancé’s craving for a milkshake. We couldn’t decide which location to go to and unfortunately chose this location. This location doesn’t know how to talk to their customers, let alone acknowledge that there are even customers waiting to be helped. The girl taking orders only cared about what her male coworker was doing which was taking out trash. She made great attempts to find trash to take to him, forgetting she had customers waiting to be helped. We waited about 5 minutes to be helped at the drive through. We could clearly see the people inside but no one even took notice we were there. I told my fiancé I was going to give them one more minute then leave if they hadn’t taken our order. Luckily they realized we were there and took our order. There were two cars in front of us. By the time we got to the front window, 20 minutes had passed. Looking at the timer in their window, it took them just a little over 10 minutes to help the car in front of us. We noticed right after ordering they had made our root beer float and it sat on the counter the whole time we were waiting. We didn’t get an apology or anything for the long wait. If the employees were more experienced and cared a little more about their job, then maybe they’d have a better review from me. It would have been faster for me to go to the grocery store and grab the supplies needed to make my own hot dog. Lesson learned, don’t go to this location.

Eating here makes me feel as if I’m having the munchies without having to get stoned. This DerW is in a strange part of town — though most of Oceanside is pretty strange — and it’s right across from Angelos — though most of Oceanside is right across from one of the Angelos. They should call it «Angelo-side». It was a lovely day, so rather than eating in my car, I parked and walked up to the window, so I could eat on their patio. Also nice ’cause it lets me interact with their other customers. The guy next to me had really awesome fish tattoos on his legs, though he was wearing fishing boots, which seemed strange. You kind of have to loiter around the window waiting for your number to be called, but it doesn’t take long and they got my order right. There was a woman sleeping at one of the benches in the patio, I tried not to wake her. I had the corn dog — much better than hot-dog-on-a-stick, though I do prefer their uniforms. Junkyard dog looks better in pictures than in person, though it was okay — chili cheese onions relish and a scattering of fries. And iced tea, which was nice, ’cause I’ve got to watch my figure.

What can you say of a fast food joint? Well, this place was exceptional. The service was good and the hot dog was fast food good. So, in my opinion that’s a lot. I was on a budget so this place suppressed the hunger for a few more hours.
