Not bad for a small town lunch buffet. The warm cherry crisp was great! Unfortunately, we both had the Salisbury steak & we were both ill a few hours later. I also didn’t feel that it was appropriate for the hostess to continue harping about where I should be shopping. That got really old. I just got a weird vibe from her. Downgrading to 1 star.

Had the Crab Benedict. The eggs were sloppy and on the way to hard boiled. Not the way that pouched eggs should look. And the food was cold. The setting was nice, the view great. Service okay.

Delicious! It was our first time here. The buffet was fresh and well stocked. Everyone was super friendly. Excellent selection.

We stopped here on a chilly afternoon on the way to Starved Rock. It seemed like a good idea… there were plenty of options on the menu from burgers to fish and other goodies. Well, the onion rings my husband and mom got were so gross that neither of them ate any more beyond the first bite. The dough was soaked with oil as if the oil wasn’t hot when the rings were made. I had a fish sandwich that had a similar problem… it was really oily and the batter was sad. My husband’s burger was meh and tasteless. I did enjoy the bbq that came with my sandwich, but I don’t think you can really mess up canned beans. The pickles did have an off taste to all three of us, which was not cool. Finally, I had some waffle fries that were as hard as a rock. How that’s managed at a diner is beyond me. Besides the bbq beans, the other positive was the staff. They were all very friendly and welcoming, and they seem like nice people overall. Also, the restroom was clean… always a bonus, just not enough to elevate the rating here.

Stopped for lunch on our way to Galena. Staff was friendly, clean environment and food was excellent. We ordered off the menu, didn’t eat the buffet, although it looked good.

Easily a 1 star. Don’t eat here unless it’s breakfast. Buffet food is always old and cold. Salad is always wilted and brown. Cucumbers are soft and flimsy. Soup is ok if they have it in stock. Last time I was here, it took forever to get service. Then I ordered my food that came with a soup or salad. I asked for salad. It came all brown as usual. I sent it back and they said I could have soup. They told me the three choices. I picked. They came back and said they were out of soup. They got my order wrong. We had to ask another waitress for refills on drinks. The tables around us were equally as upset about things. We said something to the manager who compted us my drink. That’s it…

It was Ok soup needs to be hotter. Not quite sure the crockpot was turned on. I should have spoke up. Buffet was well stocked and delicious. Fried chicken, ham, roast beef many, many choices. I like that their was a person attending it at all times. Top notch for a small restaraunt. I would defiantly go back.

Everyone was friendly and we had great service but the food wasn’t great. We got the buffet because fried chicken sounded wonderful. But it was mostly hard dry batter, and when you finally found a little meat underneath it, that was so hard and dry we could hardly eat it. The mashed potatoes tasted boxed and the gravy canned. The chicken soup was pretty good as well as the pasta salad. The cream pie would have been good if it was cold but it was setting out on the counter and was warm. The buffet was very limited and disappointing. This was a random stop as we were traveling through the area so maybe we just hit a bad day. But I’m sure we won’t stop again.

We’ve been going here for years, and the thing that impresses me the most is you’re always greeted with a smile. Tim and his staff go out of their way to please us every time we’re in there. It was my Grandsons birthday, and this is where he chose to eat. The menu is large and varied. My favorite part is you can get breakfast meals 24⁄7. It’s popular I guess, seeing as all 5 of us ordered off the breakfast menu. If you’re ever in this area for whatever reason, stop and gave a meal. Delaneys will make you feel like you’re sitting down with family.

The food at Delaney’s was pretty good(the potatoes were great!) but the 5-star review was for the staff and manager. My friend has dietary restrictions and the manager practically ran to the kitchen to start some food for her since most of what they offered didn’t work for her. Everyone was friendly, the prices were fair and we both enjoyed our meals.

Stopped by on my way from Peoria to Wisconsin. Very good food! I got a hobo skillet(breakfast served 24 hours) and coffee. While the coffee left something to be desired with regard to flavor, the skillet was delicious, filled with American fries(fried potatoes sliced into circles), onions, green and red peppers, and an interesting type of spicy sausage. Def worth a try if you enjoy skillets. There are PLENTY of other relatively diverse choices if skillets or breakfast are not your thing. Prices are more than fair(paid around 10 dollars for a very filling meal). The waitress was fantastic. Very helpful, friendly, quick, and attentive. Definitely going to stop by again!

I have been going to Delaney’s since I was little on family vacations. I decided on the way back from our family vacation to bring my wife there, as she had never been there. We both ordered the breakfast buffet. There were several good options that came with the buffet. There were a couple of foods on the buffet that I would not recommend, but for the most part it was a wide selection so it was fine. The create your own belgian waffle and pancakes selections were outstanding. Delaney’s has the best hot choclate! The server was helpful, and the manager came over to visit with us and definitely made our visit even better. I would highly recommend Delaney’s as a place to eat.

I ate here for 2 breakfasts, 1 buffet and 1 from the menu. Both were quite good, and the servers are great.

As bad as a restaurant can possibly get. Walking into the restaurant I see a plastic nativity scene and its Late February. Really ticks off customers who are not religious or not Christian. Restaurant is out of date and old fashioned. Breakfast buffet was disgusting. Pancakes not even fully cooked. Pretty much raw. Eggs had zero taste. Menus are dirty and nothing tasted good. Hostess literally stood staring into space for minutes at a time. Nothing better to do? You can see the cooks and a woman in back with no gloves on wiping her nose with her hand and scratching her neck and face. After paying, hostess did not bother to ask how the meal was and did not even say have a nice day. Avoid this place. Only good thing was plenty of parking because nobody comes here. The only reason it stays in business is you have transients who don’t know about this place and only visit once(near a major highway). Repeat customers must have no taste buds or are so fundamental Christian that they only come to support«the cause».

Some of the food is very tasty but it’s inconsistent. It seems like the things that they want to sell has the best quality the other stuff is just there cause they want to say they have it all or something and THEMANAGERSARERUDECONDESCENDINGANDTHEREASON I VERYSELDOMGOTHERE!!! There aren’t a lot of options in Oglesby and they are all just as bad or worse!!! The prices are too high they act like we are in California and they have super high overhead to cover or something! And don’t order anything specially made cause they don’t like it and they usually get it wrong anyway.

I generally try to only review a restaurant after eating there twice. Occasionally I will do a review if I’ve only able to visit once. Delaney’s will get a review after just walking in. Roadtrip to Madison and got hungry near Oglesby. Choices were fast food or this place. A seemingly easy choice. Walked in and immediately hit in the face with the smell of fish. Quickly seated in a booth and the fish smell only got worse. Quickly looked st the menu, looked at what others were eating and suddenly Taco Bell wasn’t sounding so bad. Looked across at my friend and instantly knew he was having the same thoughts. The Taco Bell was like every. other Taco Bell on earth, but it didn’t smell of rotten fish.

Better than McDonald’s across the street. And we had the sweetest server! She made a spinach side salad for me that wasn’t even on the menu. They have a dinner buffet for $ 10.99. Not as extensive as an Old Country Buffet, but a wide variety of typical items. Nice open, clean atmosphere across the street from the Best Western. Convenient and decent.

We went here to celebrate my father’s birthday. It’s about half way between where we and my sister live so neither of us had to travel too far. This is a nice little family restaurant close to the interstate. It really does have that family run diner feel and look to it. When you walk in the dinning area is divided into two sections by a large U shaped salad bar/buffet table. There is also a lunch counter you can dine at. The service here was excellent. Seven of us walked in with out a reservation and they quickly made room for us. They were polite, accommodating and some of the nicest servers I have ever experienced! My mother told the server we were there for my father’s birthday and that we had an ice cream cake in a cooler in the van and they offered to put it in their walk in freezer for us. They could have said no outside cakes like some places do, but they let us bring it in and even stored it for us. When the time came to serve the cake, the brought it out and even though we didn’t bring candles, they put some on it for us. This place knows how to treat a customer. We all decided to have the lunch buffet. They had a traditional salad section with lettuce and a mix of other vegetables and toppings to go on it. They had a cold salad section(pasta salad, potato salad, coleslaw, etc) A main course section Mashed potatoes, mixed vegetables, fried chicken, Salisbury steak, pasta, beef stroganoff, sauerkraut with kielbasa. There were two choices of soup Vegetable or Chicken and Dumpling and a desert section with three different pies. It wasn’t a huge buffet, but for the size of restaurant it offered a selection. Like most family restaurants, the food isn’t much to write about. It’s pretty basic, could use some seasoning(or a lot). If you’re looking for something that is going to knock your socks off and you can’t wait to go back to get, this probably isn’t the place to go. If you are looking for decent food and a decent price, this is a place to go. There’s a little something for everyone.
