Beggars can’t be choosers for last minute room during peak season. The Aspinquid is in a fantastic location right smack dab on beach street. Less than five minute walk ’till your toes touch the fine sands of Ogunquit Beach. Pros: Location location location. Rooms and facilities were very very clean. Shower was utterly fantastic. Bathrooms looked recently renovated. Rooms have kitchenettes and fridge. Most rooms have a nice view of river/beach. Cons: Dated, very dated décor/furniture. Walls/doors seemed paper thin. If it was happening in the hallway it might as well have been happening at the foot of your bed. Non-smoking policy anywhere on the property. This includes your own private balcony.(I guess a pro if you’re a non-smoker.) Overall — Meh. For the price I better be able to smoke a fag on my own balcony. Service seemed fine overall. I probably wouldn’t go back for this reason alone. Otherwise pool was nice, location good, but it was pricey for what you got. There are far far nicer stays to be had for same money.

Pro: The only redeeming feature of the Aspinquid is that it’s right, smack next the beach in Ogunquit. In minutes you’ll be enjoying sun and sand. You can leave your car parked here an just walk to the shops, bars and restaurants near by. Con: The place is DATED; and while in itself is not a deal breaker; you simply don’t feel like you’re staying in anything special — especially for this price point. The stench from cleaning fluids and of guests past effuse the room. A stained, uncomfortable futon was our only seating. A sign warning to clean up your dishes«or else you won’t be invited back to the Aspinquid» pretty much sums up the feeling and attitude of this inn. I wonder if they keep of list of guess who didn’t do dishes. «Oh, yeah, don’t take a reservation from the Smith’s as they left a pile of dirty dishes and forgot to take out the trash». In fact when we checked in, the clerk was full of ‘tude and even did the«talk-to-the-hand» gesture to a guest behind us in line who had a question. Wow! So if you absolutely need to stay by the beach but don’t mind stinky, dark, and dated — then this is the place for you. Otherwise, there are many other nicer, cheaper and waaay friendlier places in town.
