House of Szechwan

House of Sechzuan is not new to me.
I consider it the best under the radar Chinese buffet in the city.
The buffet is very affordable (less than $ 8)and consistent.
The place is a small intimate restaurant with a short buffet line,
The highlights for me are sweet and sour chicken, pepper steak and sesame chicken as well as the fry bread, and won ton chips.
The pepper steak is tender with a mild savory flavor. I like to pair this with their Won Ton chips that are light and crispy with a tender bite. My favorite won ton chips.
The Sesame chicken is just sweet enough to make you want to keep eating it without feeling like your eating something sweet. The flavor is pleasant and mild.
The sweet and sour chicken is lightly breaded juicy enough to eschew the sweet and sour sauce. In fact I don’t put that on this chicken.
Their fry bread is a wonderful puffy treat with the meal.
Their fried rice is excellent.
There are other foods on their line I do not care for. There is plenty for me to feast on. Don’t forget to save room for their ice cream or other sweet desert items.
They always have banana slices coated with a sweet sauce that I enjoy.
The place simply has a humble and consistent charm.
I definitely recommend you pass up the larger Chinese buffets and enjoy the House of Szechuan.

What this place has going for it is cheap prices.
The buffet is way smaller than your mega buffet places. I found some food items that I liked and had a good meal. The ice tea was very good and was refilled many times.
What I noticed is that there were a few regulars eating here. The host knew them and even seated them at their usual/​favorite table.
Once again, I got out of there for half of what I usually fork out at a Chinese restaurant.

This was my first time eating at this buffet. I walked in and was greeting very warmly by the waiter and was offered a seat right away. The buffet is quite a bit smaller than most but the quality of food is great. My favorite was the red spicy chicken they had. It was so flavorful and slightly spicy. The only complaint I had was the ice cream machine. I went to get the twist ice cream and it just squirted out unfrozen ice cream everywhere. Other than that the food and service was great. I never had to wait for refills and was treated quite nicely. I would definitely come back again.

I’m from Kansas city and stop here every time I’m in town. Their food is always fresh, and very consistent. My family used to go here every Sunday when I was growing up and 10 years later its still the best. The buffet is smaller than most big chains but the quality is way better!
