Megan was my representative. As I said in my tip, she was not pushy about buying products… perhaps it was because I clearly came there looking for something in particular. She was helpful when I was trying to remember what the exact lip glass I previous bought was. I sampled a bunch of testers to remember. The MAC counter at Dillard was busy, every representative was helping someone. I felt like their bouncing around was cleaner and respectful. My representative was helping me, and then excused herself to go back to another customer. When at the California MAC counters, I feel like I have to keep my eye on the representative and make sure they come back to finish our product questionnaire/discussion, or I get passed to their other peers never finishing that original discussion and have to restart it with another peer. So annoying. Dillard’s MAC representatives are not commissioned based, which probably sucks for them, but as a customer, I’d rather come here and get proper attention and value.

MAC is my main makeup, and I love the counter at Dillard’s Penn Square. I don’t think I’ve ever had a bad experience there. Everyone is always so lovely and fun! For me it’s a treat and a bit of a splurge, but I appreciate every last drop so I think it’s okay. I had acne all through my 20’s, and MAC was the only makeup that provided enough cover without looking like pancake makeup, so I’m eternally grateful and fiercely loyal. I don’t know where they find the folks who work here, but I feel like I want to know everyone who works there, just for a glimpse into their lives. Like where do they hang out? What bar do these guys, gals, and guys who are sometimes dressed as gals go for a cocktail? I want to go to there. And you’ll never know if they really like you or not, because they always behave as if doing your eye makeup while you tell them about your upcoming special night out is exactly what they want to be doing. I’d add a fifth star if Dillard’s could figure out how to make the lighting better over there. It’s hard to tell if you really love that shade or not in that yucky light. Remember to keep your little MAC boxes until you are certain you love everything about that new product. They’re super cool about returns, but you’ll need to have the box with that ever-important yellow UPC sticker. Also, save your empty containers(lipstick tubes, foundation bottles, eyeshadow caes) and when you six, take them in for MAC’s recycling program and select a free lipstick. That’s got to be one of the best recycling programs I know of. I have lots of MAC lipstick but rarely do I actually pay for one.

I’m a MAC cosmetics — aholic. Kind of, maybe. I love that I can go in and ask one of the licensed cosmetologists about a certain look and they will literally try it on me. They are always so helpful. Last time I was in, just after Mother’s Day, I wanted bright eyes. The cosmetologist did such a beautiful job on my make up. When she was done, there was no pressure to purchase anything. There is an unspoken rule that you should purchase something that was used on your make over. Or maybe it is spoke, I’m not sure, cause I always end up buying something. I’ve gone in two other times asking for«classic red lips» and«perfect nude lips» and voila, perfect. I miss having a Nordstroms as their return policy is a little more liberal than Dillard’s and I miss have a MAC store as they have eyeshado pallets, but hey, I live in Oklahoma. I’m just glad MAC is here!
