First off, I am a recently bearded man who has always hated shaving. Electric? Hate it. Blade? Love the smooth, but hate the days that follow. The fanciest thing I’ve shaved with is a Mach 3 Turbo, with some of my wife’s off the shelf department store shaving cream. So, the jump from $ 3 a bottle to $ 25 – 50 per product is a beastly jump for me. That said, I know my father buys about a dozen different beard and shaving products to build and maintain his beardly beard, so it’s not like $ 40 for a jar of shaving goo is unheard of. My wife and I randomly noticed this store in the Penn Square mall down the short leg we pretty much never go down(I think it’s UNDER the food court, with an Auntie Annes and maybe 2 – 3 other stores). Since I have had many issues with shaving, in-grown hairs, razor bumps and redness,(and also because she recently got a new job/promotion) she suggested we check it out. The store is slick and to the point. A central station that looks like(but I didn’t ask, nor was it mentioned) you could totally shave right in the store. Both side walls are lined with their products: Pre-shave oils, shaving cream, after shave lotions, cream-brushes, and some other assortments of face/beard gear. The staff is awesome and was more than helpful in explaining the different products, even suggesting that using one product would eliminate the need for a different product, and telling me of the current specials. I ended up picking up one of their $ 25 starter/trial kits, in part because I wanted to give it a try, but also because each trial kit comes with a $ 25 off coupon if you return to buy one of full sized kits. My wife swoons over the sandalwood scent, and while I haven’t thoroughly experimented with the kit(I only shave once or twice a week if that) so far I can say I like it. No in-growns detected yet, the oil seemed to work well(I used the same old disposable razor I’m used to, not even a new one) and the after-shave lotion seems to have helped my face recover from the shave. I’ll probably update this after a more extensive use of their products. I’d have given them 5 stars, but I’m still skeptical of the prices since it’s easily 5 – 10 times more expensive than any other shaving products I’ve used.
