Mathew Kenny came back, put his touches on this place and it is wonderful again! Unfortunately, I just heard today Oct.4,2014 is their last day. Not enough business. A real shame because when Matthew puts his magic touch on food, no one real cares it happens to also be vegan. It’s just phenomenal food. I’d love it if he’d stay but I heard it’s not happening. I want them to know many loved the place and the standards they kept were the highest. By to chocolate avocado pudding that lives on in crave central! I will find recipe!

I’m not vegan, but have gone through periods of vegetarianism over the last 10 years, so I’m open to that sort of cuisine. While visiting from out of state I searched vegetarian on Unilocal and found Tamazul. Reviews were good, so I have it a shot. Let me tell you, the food was excellent. On the advice of the server I got the jicama wrap starter and the sweet potato tacos for an entrée. I couldn’t find fault with either dish, but would have liked some sort of side with the entrée. I was the only person in the restaurant, but it was early. I did see a couple people pick up food to go. Hopefully this place survives, and more omnivores give it a try.

Goodbye Matthew Kenny, hello a Mexican-inspired Matthew Kenny. I would love to come back and try other dishes. We were a bit pressed for time, so we did not order any smoothies or appetizers — just the main dishes. I got the quinoa main dish which was kale and quinoa. I thought the quinoa was too salty to eat unfortunately. So mostly I ate my friend’s burrito that came with a side of salty quinoa, but the burrito itself was good. Next time I come, I will order something without quinoa or ask them to use less salt when making it. Everyone here is super courteous and friendly, and the restaurant is a really lovely place in a really lovely area.

Literally no words for how amazing their fiery margarita was. The food is SO flavorful and filling. We had a nice little array of small plates so we could try everything and it was definitely worth it. Great for a ladies or date night. Very clean. Great service. Definitely try the tamales and enchiladas. You won’t be sorry!

WOW. All vegan, all gluten free and all amazing! Completely exceeded my expectations. I had read a recent review saying that the fare was«flavorless». How completely wrong! At one point I almost teared up everything was so delicious! We got guacamole, salsa flight, jicama wraps, chile relleno, spicy beets, sweet potato, spinach tacos, mango cheesecake, and the chocolate avocado pudding. Very fresh, perfectly spiced and exciting. Creative, fresh cocktails, smoothies and juices. They had a smoothie of the day that was fresh local peaches, cinnamon, and ginger, which was incredible. They décor was lovely, open kitchen, super clean and pleasant helpful staff. Everything tops. Bravo.

Shocked, surprised and delighted. Matthew Kearny’s latest and greatest. Healthy and delicious. Vegan Mexican. Our server, Michael was just a doll. He made suggestions on drinks — both mojitos on the menu are excellent. Portions were large — I only mention thus because I’ve gone to vegan/raw restaurants before with folks that aren’t used to it and they often complain about sizing of menu items. The sauces are unusual and flavorful. They sell a couple if cookbooks at the front but if you have any of his other cookbooks it’s probably in there as well.

Came here the other night with my vegan sister to see what this is all about. We decided to eat outside since it was so nice out. A start of great ideas for the night. Great atmosphere, great service, great food, great drinks! We ordered the Jicama wraps and queso fundido for starters. The Jicama wraps were to die for! Soo so good! The queso was alright, not my favorite but the sister loved it. The warm soft tortilla chips were the best part of that dip. I ordered the Hibiscus mojito based on recommendation from our waiter Michael who was just fabulous. Best choice of the night. Highly recommended it, super refreshing and so flavorful. Sister ordered the carrot punch which was devine. It had a nice little kick from the cayenne pepper in the drink. Food came out pretty quickly, I ordered the fajitas and sis ordered the enchilada. Both were very good. The fajitas had great flavor with lots of yummy veggies and a pepper sauce and didn’t last long enough on my plate. The beans with the enchilada were soo good and the enchilada was deliciously crispy. all in all was a great dish. Dessert… Let me just say… Heaven. The mango cheesecake was again recommended by our waiter Michael. It was amazing! It had a raw pecan, oat and coconut sugar crust with a cashew milk and almond milk filling. It was so creamy! And then a mango jell on top sprinkled with a little bit of cayenne pepper on top. It was delicious! Wish we would have ordered two! Got a french press coffee to share which was strong but wrapped up our evening nicely. The whole french press came out which was awesome so we could serve ourselves. We ordered cashew milk and coconut sugar to go with it. Was given the options of getting almond milk and coconut milk, and agave syrup. Everything is 100% vegan and gluten free and all made in house. The only thing they do not make in house is the blue corn tortilla chips. Impressive, definitely coming back here.

This restaurant experience was stellar! Very creative menu; food is not typical Mexican in Oklahoma — - KNOWTHAT before you come. If your mindset is expecting to gorge yourself on mediocre/factory assembly-line typical Tex Mex, you probably will be disappointed. However if your mindset is appreciative of all the ways food can be prepared then you’ll enjoy and find it memorable. It can be slightly tough to get a feel for what’s on the menu since the descriptions tend to just be a series of single ingredients in the dish, but don’t let that hold you back. This is a one-of-a-kind restaurant and well worth the time to get there & the $. It’s more like something out of Brooklyn, honestly I am so appreciative of it being here in OKC.

Ignorance is bliss, my friends. When I heard there was a new Mexican restaurant on Classen Curve, I didn’t learn anything beyond that and booked a reservation for an anniversary date. The fact that it’s a vegan & gluten-free restaurant did not reach me till right before — then I quickly hoped my meat-loving husband wouldn’t be too disappointed! We were pleasantly surprised how filling and flavorful Tamazul is. The ambiance is trendy, but not too fancy. The kitchen is open to the restaurant, making you feel like there are no secrets. The overall feel is that you’re eating really healthy things, so you are okay ordering tons of extra stuff. I would highly recommend the guacamole, masa cakes and the burrito. My husband has never taken to the quinoa I make at home, but he very much enjoyed their quinoa.(Mine kind of tastes like dirt…) We skipped the dessert, but I am curious to try it out next time. Overall, I think it’s a great place to have a lighter meal and sit outside in a trendy area of town.

This was a great meal. The service was classy and the food delicious. I feel bad because we were pretty hungry and haggard after a long drive from Memphis and probably should have cleaned up a bit before going. We didn’t look like sloppy messes though and the waiter didn’t seem to be bothered which was very nice. But I could see where this could be a great place to dress up and got out on a date. The presentation of the food was lovely and the portion sizes were perfect. We started with the chips and three salsas so we could get a variety of flavor. They were all delicious, but my spice addiction was not satisfied. Honestly though, I think too much spice would have taken away from the flavors of the meal. I enjoyed the enchiladas and my husband, the burrito. This is a great place to get a taste of Mexican cuisine, enjoy all the complex flavors, be dazzled by the presentation, and satisfied with your feeling walking out the door, ready to return.

This was my first visit of many more to come. I found the restaurant on Unilocal.I was looking for a Gluten-Free Vegan restaurant totally expecting not to find one in OKC. At best I thought I would find a place where items could be altered. Much to my surprise, the entire menu is GF Vegan!!! The place is inviting, friendly and helpful staff and everything looked clean and hip. I can’t wait to try everything on the menu. :)

The flavors and textures are spot on and there is no meat or cheese to be seen. I loved it all. We started with the guacamole and salsa trio. Both were exceptional and mild enough for even the most delicate of palates. My kale salad(I’m such a hipster) was outstanding as was my wife’s quinoa. We went for lunch and made reservations for dinner that same night. It’s that good. My only complaint was that some of the portions left me wanting more, but I was fully satisfied later. I think it just took a little while to set in. Also, the cocktails are amazing. You should go if only for the cocktails.

Looking for a healthy, delicious option in OKC? Here you have it: Tamazul. Upon my first visit to Tamazul, I had the tamale. My 2 friends both ordered empanadas. I was pleasantly surprised, and impressed by the tamales: a rather phenomenal combination when starving. Through mis-communication when ordering appetizers, we ended up with 2 jicama wrap orders and ceviche. Yet, we only paid for one order of jicama wraps. Shoot, I wasn’t complaining, though. To top off our order, we even got dessert and drinks. The desserts were all real tasty, especially the horchata/brownie combo. The one aspect of the meal I was not feelin: the Mango Mojita. Now don’t get me wrong, I love my liquor — but the mixture just wasn’t pleasant or drinkable.(I write this even though I did gulp the entire truth elixir down LOL and felt mighty good after) The second visit was for my Going Away Party, and the service was still had the same pleasant quality, but seemed to have a better stream-lined way of helping customers. I hesitantly had the Pomegranate Mojito, as a coworker ordered the Mango Mojita. This go around BOTH alcoholic beverages were SOGOOD. I think the first go around they were still trying to find their groove with drinks, waitstaff, and manager duties, but my second time in Tamazul was WONDERFUL. WORTHYNOTESFORPICKYEATERS: if you’re HESITANTABOUT vegan food, I encourage you to stick to food options that the waitstaff suggests to you. PLEASE. I had a friend order a heavy tempeh dish and she was not a happy camper. Start with enchiladas or tamales from Tamazul. If you’re a BIG eater, please note they only give portion sizes to satisfy your stomach — not enough to make you feel like a big ol’ balloon. The space is not the greatest for big groups of people. RESERVATIONSAREYOURBESTFRIEND. I’d say give it a try, be open, and trust the process of eating delish vegan food. Thank me later, for that first bite of vegan food may surely be a life-changing experience.

I loved everything about Tamazul. Being a health nut vegetarian I found opening the menu much like the excitement surrounding Christmas morning. Started with the guacamole, very good and fresh. Also, tried the black bean soup, delish! Then the Kale Ensalada. Generous portion with an excellent spicy soy chorizo and more fresh guacamole. I opted for the Quinoa dish as my main and it was again a generous portion with creative presentation. The avocado pudding dessert intrigued me. It was unbelievably good. Very small portion, but just right for a finishing with sweet taster. The mango cheesecake, however; is the shizzz. Don’t live in OKC but visit here every time I’m in town.

The food is delicious– wholesome and expertly prepared, beautifully presented. Sadly, the service was painfully slow today. I wanted to enjoy a leisurely lunch, but I got far more leisure than I’d hoped for. The wait staff seemed oddly myopic and oblivious. Kind enough when they came to the table, but slower than tortoises stuck in mud. I absolutely loved the cold pressed carrot, apple, and ginger juice and quesadillas(vegan, gluten-free, corn free) and I’ll come back… when I have *plenty* of time to sit. The food has been figured out; putting the staff in motion seems an important goal.

I absolutely love this place. It is a «plant-based» Mexican restaurant, I won’t sneak that vegan word in there… meat-eaters may turn up their noses!(-; But I can honestly say, I have brought several different guests here – all meat-dairy-gluten eaters – and they have all loved this place equally. The guacamole is my favorite starter, it is so fresh & delicious. I have been here enough to have almost every entrée – I think the chile relleno is my new favorite. A green chile stuffed with black beans, quinoa, feta & portobello… yum! The service is awesome. We have had nothing but the best in wait staff, bar service and management. Every time I have been in, this staff goes above and beyond to make sure we have a good dining experience. I haven’t even gotten to the drinks yet, talk about fresh! I have tried the Thyme for Mezcal & Paloma – both were perfectly mixed & squeezed. Their juices are also very fresh & well done, they are a nice alternative if you’re not in the mood for alcohol. The atmosphere is excellent in my book. The big windows, and clean, simple décor is very classy. I also love their open kitchen where the food is prepared, I appreciate the transparency – that goes a long way for me. And did I mention they have a patio?! Perfect for nice days – you can’t beat a fresh-squeezed margarita on a patio! This place has it all for me – excellent food & drinks, atmosphere, great service, A+++!

I love this place. To my knowledge, they are the only plant based restaurant in OKC! The food is great. I try to bring as many people here to support Tamazul since they are supporting and investing in the health of Oklahomans.

Ok well to start I came with friends for a birthday dinner. Staff was very friendly and had our table set up. I am not vegan so my review is based on my experience and preferences. I had a Spicy Rita which was very tasty. Perfect amount of spice, then tried a horchatta which is served warm and strong. I really liked it but I myself am a fan of horchatta. I chose the burrito as my main dish and it was quite good. Lots of flavor, quite fulfilling and I felt healthy :) I have to say the tostados looked really good too. They had a delay on quinoa so they took those dishes off our check which was so nice of them and then brought us complementary desserts! I have to say customer service was above and beyond such great service! I would come here even though I love meat because of the fabulous atmosphere and amazing service. Also their director of operations was in the restaurant and was so kind and greeted us. He looked so familiar but I summed it up as we probably have same friends and seen each other around, well I finally figured it out. I definitely watched him on TV he appeared on Shahs of Sunset, Sean Sette. What am asset to OKC :)

Had such high hopes. Huge fan of Chef Ryan Parrot, but not so much of the Mexico City style food. Prices were freakin’ high too.

@TamazulOKC — hmmm. Let’s see: authentic Mexican cuisine in one of the coolest spaces in Oklahoma City? Up-to-the moment décor as the perfect backdrop for enjoying perfect Mezcal cocktail? Um, yes please. It’s no secret that I love Ryan Parrot. He’s created some of my favorite menus in town from Iguana Grill to Local. But he’s never been more in his element than he is here. This place has Ryan written all over it: open kitchen, which of course had to be retrofitted to work in a what had previously been a raw food restaurant. Large bar at the center of the action, serving up the best selection of Mezcal in the city. Blue corn chips, fresh salsa and water were presented upon arrival. I had the ceviche salad, which on this day was kale topped with a shrimp ceviche and a lemony, vinegary dressing: arguably the best presentation of kale I’ve ever had. I was glad to know I can get my Mexican food fix in such a healthy way. I plan to come back soon, hopefully with more people so I can try lots of different dishes and drinks. I’m so glad my friends don’t mind when I reach across the table and eat off their plate. Just further proof that this is not at all the city I grew up in, in any sense other than the latitude and longitude remains the same.
