Service was horrible, food was bad, probably the worst brunch we’ve had in a while. Restaurant was not overcrowded, there was no wait, yet it took 40 min to get our food and another 25 minutes or so to get the bill. It’s interesting that while we’re waiting — we could see waitresses and other staff talking and laughing with other customers and each other and completely ignoring other tables. Witnessed at least 2 people sending their food back. Our order was not messed up but did not taste good. The best thing was the grill cheese sandwich that my 9 year old ordered! Kind of sad… Was shocked at the bill! Slow, unprofessional service, extremely overpriced! Would not recommend.

We love the menu and the staff. The omelettes and soups are delicious. The new location is great — more seating and parking.

It pains me to write this review — because I want this to be my favorite breakfast restaurant — especially because I live really close by. But I’m hoping they learn from it because they have awesome potential. I came for breakfast shortly after they moved to their new location. Service and food were excellent. I went again this past Sunday. We were seated immediately, so even though the restaurant was full, there was not a wait. The waitress who took drink orders didn’t introduce herself nor smile or welcome us. Drinks were served promptly and the fresh squeezed OJ was exquisite and the reason for 3 stars vs. 2. We waited at least ½ hour to order. When the waitress finally realized we hadn’t ordered, she did apologize. We then waited about an hour for our food. During that wait, no one checked on us for about 45 minutes. Noone asked if we wanted more drinks. Noone brought us extra tiny muffins. I had two kids that were obviously starving and restless, yet noone came by until finally, about 45 minutes after ordering we were told our ticket was up. We watched the cook chat with customers as other customers walked out without eating. When food finally arrived the waitress said sorry for the wait without conviction. She then walked away and didn’t check on us again. The whole time that we(and other customers) were waiting and/or eating without getting much servicea, there were several staff standing around. The staff was in slow motion, appeared lazy, and didn’t much care that everyone was waiting over an hour for food and getting angry. We saw two tables of customers leave after ordering but without eating. The staff should have been bending over with apologies and free food, but did not. My son got the wrong pancake. We told staff and got nothing but«sorry about that». My poached eggs were dry and toast burnt. Potatoes were ok but not hot. My daughter and husbands meals were just ok but not worth the wait. Nothing was comped and no one even said good bye or thank you when we left. Oh, and restaurant was cold; we ate with coats on. So very disappointed in this experience. Food has potential and location is nice. They need to retrain entire staff or clean house and hire people with energy and enthusiasm.

I must agree with everything that Dan O. said… we waited 45 minutes and our orders had not even been started! It took 15 minutes to even get waited on. After a one hour wait, we walked out. It appeared,(I’m not sure) that the«wait» staff was cooking this day, and the chef was just chatting with customers. As we walked out the wait staff were falling over themselves with apologies. They asked us to give JAMSS another chance. Should we?

I’m not sure what happened to this place, but the service has gone completely downhill since they moved to their new location. It seems to take them over an hour now to complete a breakfast order when they get busy, which is unacceptable even for a «high end» breakfast place. The last time I visited this place on a Sunday, the kitchen was complete chaos. While the head chef was«busy» chatting up the guests, his poor sous chefs were scrambling to get orders out the door and doing a pretty lousy job of it. Meanwhile, the wait staff were just sitting by with frustrated looks on their faces while their customers got fed up and left one table at a time. I walked out as well after waiting over 45 minutes and finding out that they hadn’t even started cooking our order. I’m not sure where the owner of this place is, but they better whip this place into shape before it loses all of their repeat customers like myself.

I am so disappointed! I loved them in the old location! We came here one morning on a long weekend we spent at the beach. I ordered a breakfast special that came with a lot of food and my fiancée ordered blueberry pancakes. I had chocolate chip pancakes for my pancakes. The pancakes were decent but the home fries were under cooked, the scrambled eggs also undercooked. Bacon was overlooked! Slow service. My glass looked really dirty. I didn’t like the interior at all. Didn’t have the cozy feel. Just really bummed overall. Service was mediocre. Took a while and they weren’t overly crowded since it was a weekday morning. Bummer.

I do not usually review on Unilocal, however I feel as though this needed to be said. My girlfriend and I decided to get lunch from the deli at JAMSS and it is something we will never do again. The staff was rude, in particular the woman who served us. She gave us such an attitude and looked like we were bothering her because we wanted lunch. I got a chicken parm grinder and it was terrible. The girl cleary rushed and the whole grinder fell apart. The chicken was disgusting and cold as well as the bacon, ice cold. My girlfriends grinder was also a disaster and fell apart. Rude service, poor food, avoid this place.

Great food. Service is a little all over the place… You end up having like 3 different servers. Food can be a bit slow to come out but is overall good… Except when your pancakes come out burnt on one side…

Filthy cups, menus, floor, and wait staff clothing. Walked out after the third filthy cup was brought over. Was great back in the day but currently will just not go there again

We’ve been to JAMSS many times before and always thought the food was good but the service was slow. Today however, the service was so slow and disorganized that it completely spoiled our experience. We had to ask three times for two drinks, orders were wrong or missing items, and we had to ask multiple times for the issues to be corrected. The wait for our breakfast was over half an hour. The food was great, but not worth putting up with the poor service and long wait. Our experience today was really frustrating and sadly, we will not be back unless we read that the service has greatly improved.

I visited Jams recently as I heard great reviews about the food. My friend and I stood at the door waiting to be seated however the staff did not acknowledge us at all. Finally we got one of the girls attention and got seated. We were greeted by a girl who showed no enthusiasm nor smile. We got our food and asked in the very end by a guy how everything was. We were not asked if we want more coffee nor did we get water. In the end didn’t know who our server was as had 3 different people come up. The staff seemed a little incompetent and highly recommend they watch a video on customer service. The food was ok, I prefer Christys and turtle café in Westbrook as not only their food is delicious their atmosphere is welcoming even when it is busy.

Undercooked Homefries… Twice! Basic breakfast essential fail. Overly sweet baked goods, like cloyingly sweet. Claim to be home cooked but taste like a lot of these places that buy frozen dough or a mix. If it IS homemade that’s even more depressing. Worst part is the owners are taking the tips from the waitstaff and pocketing them without communicating this. So The customer is under the impression we are tipping staff and being misled. Uninspired fancy brunch fare in a strip mall.

Giving a two-star review because I’d like to give JAMSS the benefit of the doubt for the particular experience my husband and I had today. It appears they still need to get their act together since moving to a new location. I’m hoping short-staffing was the reason for our poor experience today. We put our names down this morning and the hostess let us know she’d seat us at the bar shortly. Two customers walked in and went straight to our seats(I’d advise putting a «please wait to be seated» sign up to avoid confusion). The hostess did feel bad and was very, very kind and sat us immediately when the next two seats opened but things just went downhill after that. Our coffee was full of grinds and our fruit, slimy. An hour went by before one of the two chefs looked over at us and asked the other chef if he had received our order. He answered«no.» That’s when I got up to leave. Our server looked confused but told us we would be next. I had run out of patience at that point. Customers coming in after us were already leaving after enjoying their meals so I’m not sure if our order was lost or what happened but within that hour we were not addressed by anyone. I didn’t touch the fruit I was given after seeing the amount of nose wiping by the female chef and the servers. Sure the food has been decent but the fact that no one apologized or addressed what had happened is what really struck us as unprofessional and we will not be back. Good luck JAMSS I do hope you get your act together at your new location.

This is more of a three star experience but the food was really good(even if they did get my order wrong) so let’s call it four stars. This is apparently a new location for JAMSS. Very nice place inside. Maybe working out some glitches though. We stood at the entrance not sure if we were supposed to seat ourselves or be seated. Finally someone came and said to sit where we wished. Only free table hadn’t been fully cleaned after last customers. Clean coffee mugs, but missing forks. We had to ask twice for clean replacements. Young lady who gave us menus(could order from both expansive and unique breakfast or lunch menus) took our beverage order. Asked for water with lemon. Only got the water. Was awhile before she came back asking if we wanted anything else. We were ready to order. She said someone would be by soon to for that. Okay, waited some more. A second young lady eventually showed up. Hubby requested the pulled pork omelette without the caramellized onions. He loved it. I opted for the Duck DLT wrap. Asked if the DLT was their version of BLT. She laughed and said yes. When our food came(not a super long wait for that and delivered by a third server, who finally gave us the necessary clean cutlery and an apology) I was a little surprised to see goat cheese, spinach and mango(not a huge fan of goat cheese especially when applied thickly or mango) in the wrap. Didn’t recall that in the description, but didn’t say anything, thinking maybe I misread it, that this was their twist on BLT and I was hungry. The duck breast was beautiful, rare and very moist. Wasn’t until we got back to the car and I looked up the online menu that I realized I received the regular duck wrap not the DLT wrap. How silly and confusing to have two different but similar sounding items on the menu! I assume kitchen error as the server knew I was looking at the DLT. Turned out they were the same price anyway. Two ladies at the next table made a fuss that just makes people within earshot uncomfortable in a restaurant. The one got her bill and then got all bent out of shape that her turkey was dry and she shouldn’t have to pay that price. If you’re not happy and inclined to complain, do it before you eat the food. To the server’s credit, she tried to handle the situation quietly and something got resolved. We are rarely in this area, so may not be back. If they can work on the service issues then it would be worth a second chance if we come this way again. So many other things on that menu that had my mouth watering! ;)

I LOVE this place. The food is absolutely phenomenal. I had the oat bran pancakes today, and they came with fresh blackberries with a raspberry yogurt sauce… and I could have eaten about 15 of them! And the new location has a bigger seating area, which is great! My ONLY complaint is that they need more help in the kitchen — service by the waitstaff is attentive and they’re all so sweet, but the chef is on his own and it makes getting orders out extremely slow. I did takeout, and they said 20 – 25 minutes which is average so I was fine with it… I got to the restaurant about 20 minutes after ordering and STILL had to wait 15 – 20 minutes inside to get my food. If they got one or two more chefs I think it would make a lot of people happier.

They just changed location and the one time I went, it took about 30 minutes for us to be seated and we went at 10AM. It was then another 20 minutes before they came to take our order and then another 40 minutes before our food was served. Maybe it was because they were busy? But they must have been understaffed because there were people that were leaving because they have been waiting so long for their food. When the food eventually came out, it was warm but very bland. I had the Argula on naan and it was pretty tasteless. The wait staff was very friendly though and I applaud their efforts despite the rush hour. But there seems to be other good reviews on here, so maybe I just came on a bad day. But next time I am back in town, I will give it another try.

Pronkt the best breakfast or brunch option in town. The portions are large and prices low. They moved to a new location 5′ driving down on the same road. Service was super friendly. A real local place. Due to the relocation, Service was a bit slow but I am sure this will quickly be resolved.

Please note! New Location: 1522 Boston Post Road. Food and coffee were outstanding. Prepare to wait 30 minutes + for your food to come out. Perhaps they were working the kinks out in the kitchen, but we sat at the counter where you could observe the line cook and they seemed quite backed up. Still, the food was excellent — we would visit again.

I would give zero stars if I could. Rude and oblivious staff. Waited an hour for breakfast which wasn’t a problem if the service would have been better. Waitress had a bad attitude and no manners. When our food was finally ready it sat on the serving station for about 5 mins before one of the waitresses took it for a stroll around the restaurant for 10 minutes. Dropped off cold and my poached eggs were raw and my friends hollandaise was broken. We explained the situation and left. Ended up at The Tea Kettle right across the way for a friendly and delicious experience. Don’t eat here!
