I love road-side BBQ, and the food from here made me happy and full for most of the day. We got the 3-meats combo which comes with 2 sides and cornbread for around $ 16. They really pack in the food so you get your money’s worth. In our combo, we had the chicken, ribs, and shredded/chopped pork. They also gave us some bbq sauces. All three meats were delicious, but my favorite was the chicken. The ribs were great, but could have been a little bit more tender. I had mac & cheese and baked beans as the sides. The baked beans have pieces of pineapple in it and I think cinnamon… a very interesting and tasty twist! On the front counter, there was a cake just sitting there tempting me. I asked about it, and the boys running the front didn’t know, but their mom – who baked the cake – was out back. She came in and gave me a healthy slice of this carrot cake for $ 3. It was SOGOOD! Thanks mom!

Was not impressed at all! We ordered pulled pork and I swear it tasted like leftover pork tenderloin, the texture was off and for a place that actually smokes their meat it absolutely no flavor. Would not recommend at all.

We were on our way to dinner and my dad saw Pit Stop out of the corner of his eye. Never one to pass up BBQ, he decided we should stop and get some ribs to share as an appetizer. So, maxi dress, high wedges and all, I hobbled out over the gravel to the big picnic tables in the back to dig in. The ribs were excellent. Meaty, juicy, and great bbq sauce on the side. We didn’t try any of the other menu items. Other people who were leaving when we came said the mac n cheese was served cold… like legit out-of-the-fridge cold. Glad we didn’t get that! We will definitely go back to try the other BBQ items… the guys said they recently changed ownership. Not sure what it was like before, but they’re doing it right now! It’s a bit buggy back there, so maybe consider some bug spray.

This place is the shizz!!! BESTBBQINTAMPABAY!!! Don’t listen to any bad reviews, PITSTOP has made great changes and the Q is killa for rilla! I’ve been to just about every place in town for BBQ and PITSHOP does it right! I’d give these cats 5,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 stars if I could! Shew, I’m going there tonight!

Mark brought me a huge plate of this BBQ for lunch. I was confused because I doubted it was open anymore due to strange hours. When you do BBQ, you really have to commit. It’s a do or die situation with the stiff competition my dad’s home smoked ribs provide. I’m hoping that once he gets more accustomed to hours everything will flow more smoothly which will in turn make it easier to offer hot fresh meats at anytime. I scarfed my meal down without a second thought, and found it unremarkable.

Don’t be fooled by the sub-par outside appearance. Although, some of the greatest BBQ joints I have gone to have rough, ugly, hole-in-the-wall, appearances; both exterior and interior. Pit Stop looks like it used to be an old garage or mother-in-law suite. There is no inside seating and only a few wooden benches at the back to eat. Thus, most people do take-out. You won’t really see anyone eating there or cars parked in the parking lot but don’t let that mislead you to great food that lies ahead. But enough about appearances, let’s get down to the good stuff — their excellent BBQ. I have now eaten there about 7 times and each time the pulled pork has been super tender and juicy. Very tasty with almost no need for their sauces — it’s that good. Recently my workplace picked up a big platter of their food and I was shocked at how tender even their chicken was. Ribs were the same. Everyone else agreed too. Not sure what their secret is but keep it going. They have three types of sauces: sweet, hot, and tangy/Carolina. The Carolina is good(I’ve had better though) and the sweet is good as well. Didn’t care much for the hot sauce though. As for the sides, their collard greens are awesome. Yes, they are a little salty but not too much — in other words you don’t need to add any salt or pepper to them. And I believe it’s loaded with garlic and other seasoning — it’s very good — one of the best out there. Their baked beans are unique in that they have slivers of pineapple in them, thus the beans are more on the sweet side. I would recommend they not only thicken the sauce but maybe add some chunks of pork meat as well. But all in all the beans are good. I highly recommend Pit Stop BBQ. Any BBQ’er or fan of food should check them out. Great, tender, and well cooked ribs and chicken. The worry from the lackluster exterior and dull atmosphere will lead to a pleasant surprise of a tasty meal that your mouth and stomach will thank you later 4.5 Stars

My hopes were high due to Pit Stop’s close proximity to both my home and job. There is a real lack of BBQ in the Westchase/Oldsmar area for sure. I’ve driven past Pit Stop many times, and sometimes they’re open and sometimes they’re not. Well, yesterday the planets must have been aligned because they were open AND I was hungry. My normal Tuesday lunch spot is Nosh on Tampa Road, but I had to deviate given the aforementioned cosmic situation. I met with the new owner, Quez. Really nice guy. He was telling me the business hours fluctuate because business does, and he hasn’t found his groove during the week. Sometimes Mondays are good, and sometimes they’re bad. Weekend business seems to be fine, so if you’re looking to head here Friday thru Sunday, you shouldn’t have a problem. Yesterday, I ordered two pork dinners, which come with cornbread and two sides for about $ 8 each. Not a bad price at all. Here is my breakdown: Portions — Plenty of pork, but the sides were a little small. Quality — Average. The pork was tasty, but a little dry, the potato salad was runny and the collard greens were a little salty. Greens did have lots of ham in them though. Cornbread was decent. Neither moist nor dry. BBQ sauce — 3 options. Hot, mild and Carolina. I went with the mild, and it was pretty good. Cleanliness — Impressively clean for a BBQ joint. Usually, they are notoriously dingy. All-in-all, it’s an OK spot for BBQ in a pinch, but I’d honestly rather drive a little further away and get something a little better.

I really want to think it’s awesome but honestly, it’s not. The prices are low but the… Service is perfunctory BBQ is average Sides are marginal Location is take out only Parking is available Hours are limited I’m not a fan when there are many superior BBQ choices in the area.

Large portions. However the chopped pork was not tender at all. The ribs were huge but the fat was not rendered and they were very tough. I needed a knife to cut the meat from the bone. Both meat could have used much more time on the pit. 2 stars are for price and portion size. Update: The next day I wrapped the ribs up in foil and cooked them for 3 hours at 250 degrees in the oven and they become Tiber enough to get a clean bite, With the chopped pork there wasn’t much I could do so we just tossed it. The full rack of ribs was $ 23 and the pork was $ 9.99 for a lb. and it came with 2 small sauces. Overall very poor, makes Chills and Applebee’s seem like rib kings.

Tried this place for the 1st time and loved it. It’s all about the food! Ribs & chicken were tender, moist and flavorful. The smoke was pronounced but not overpowering. Both the mild and spicy sauces were subtle and added to the taste of the pulled pork(more chopped than pulled) without stealing the show. Beans were delicious and so was the sweet corn. The corn had a nice firm texture and tasted very good. There were a few strands of silk on the corn suggesting it was not from a can, as so many other places use. I enjoyed the tasty corn bread too. Low on ambiance but big on taste. I definitely will be back.

Had the chicken ribs and chopped pork. everything was delicious. Spicy sauce was delicious. Greens kind of seasoned too hard with the rub. Baked beans best I’ve had in years. Will definitely be back

Very very few places score a 5 star out of me, but to not give this place a 5 star after my 4 visits(thus far and counting) would be an ethics violation on my ratings book. This hole-in the wall BBQ shack from the outside is just that a small single room building fronting a wood fired pit in the back. If you are a true BBQ fan at heart, then this place offers as authentic BBQ as possible. Their award winning recipe produces finger licking good ribs, chicken. There is no seating here, its to go and they don’t deliver. They do catering and are avid competitors at rib fests around. Check out their award plaques. The menu offers full, half ribs; whole, half, quarter chicken; sandwiches and some sides. Who cares about the sides when the ribs /chicken paired with their mild or hot bbq sauce is what should keep your mouth going astronomical with taste and finger tips covered in sauce. One bite into a rib from Pit Stop Southern Style, and there is no going back to the mediocre. I just wish they had BBQ wings. I have to ask the next time I’m there. The meat is prepared perfectly tender for ribs and perfectly moist for chicken. Drive by while they are open and the smell alone will drag you back in walking away with boxes of BBQ deliciousness. Don’t expect a fancy place, but expect taste and quality that is unmatched by many around.

This is a converted garage. The food is great. I bought Ribs and chicken. I wish they gave me the food from the grill. The grill is a wood burning grill and you can taste the burning wood in the food. Her prices are great and the food is very fresh. Parking is limited so if they are busy you may have to park at the shopping center next door.

This family-owned BBQ shack is awesome. They cook in a traditional Kettle in the back and have a small take-out shack in front. Drive in is easy. Pull in just east of the bridge on 580 coming from countryside and leave by pulling out around the smoker. Awesome and value-priced combo dinners. Chicken, Ribs and Chop’d pork. The potato salad is as homemade as it gets. Baked Beans with pineapple, nice twist. They also have sweet potato pie.
