The food was great, the prices aren’t that bad(especially for Olmos Park), so where were the customers? Our friends have eaten here several times over the last couple years and said that it always seems empty. What’s the deal? If we lived closer we would eat here once a month. Try it. You won’t regret it.

This was a nice little restaurant with a really beautiful atmosphere. It reminds me of a lot of the previous restaurants that use to fill up this location. Its unfortunate that most of them don’t last but a few years. There’s something about this location and the one across the round about that doesn’t last in the restaurant industry. The food was pretty pleasant. We had the cheese pizza and a Margarita pizza. I had a caprese salad with some kind amazing dressing on it. It was really rich and gave my stomach ouchie boo boo’s later because I’m lactose intolerant. Boy was it tasty though! I would get a stomach ache any day for that salad. The service was pretty great too. I’ve never seen this place get slammed packed, but the outside area typically has every table filled.

Stopped in here for a little bite & a glass of wine this afternoon with my mother. The patio looked very inviting for a late afternoon snack, and it was beautiful. Loved the atmosphere & the smell of jasmine from the vines that were blooming on the wall. The place was absolutely empty when we arrived & we received excellent service. I thought the wine list was very limited and quite expensive for what was offered, $ 8-$ 12/glass with few to choose from. However, cheers to my waiter who brought me a free glass after I discovered a fly had decided to take a dip in my half full glass! We were served tasty bread with herbed butter and a fresh bottle of cold water when we sat down, both hit the spot! We then enjoyed a lovely salad of palm hearts, mushrooms & tomatoes that was very tasty. We had the calamari with this, which was very different from the dainty circles & tentacles I am used to. This was strips of calamari, obviously the larger tentacles. I thought they would be chewy and was quite surprised when I bit in to find it ver tender and tasty. After we had finished all of this, which, I have to say was a meal for my mother & I, the gentleman brought us freshly baked bread that was piping hot! OMG! I was already stuffed, but could not resist slathering it with the rosemary whipped butter and having it literally just melt in my mouth. Delicious! I couldn’t stop myself despite my busted gut! Overall, a very enjoyable late afternoon bite in a lovely location with great service. Limited wine list & a little pricey. I would go back. I would like to try their dinner menu.

I’m glad to have another sit-down dinner option within walking distance of where I live! First, the bread they bring out before dinner is clearly homemade and melts in your mouth. I was unimpressed with the bruschetta. Flavorless tomatoes, and too many for the bread which made it extremely soggy. However, the Toscana pizza hit the spot. Deliciously seasoned italian sausage, a rich sauce, and perfectly melted mozzarella. I found the wine list to be limited(read: overpriced) and opted for a glass of prosecco. The bartender poured generously, which I appreciated considering it was $ 8 a pop. I really enjoyed sitting in the bar area and listening to the smooth mariachi-esque tunes in a non-crowded room. Service at the bar was indifferent, not overly friendly, but I had most everything I needed except a glass of water. Hoping to see this building remain the same restaurant for a bit so it has some time to reach its potential.

Hubby & I stopped in as we were passing by because he was hungry and I was very curious! So glad we did! We had the Watermelon/Tomato Salad and a Sausage Pizza(not to mention some great wine at reasonable prices). The prices were good! The pizza was $ 13 and was, truly, the best pizza I’ve had in a long time(that didn’t come from my own kitchen). Not sure what happened the night Will L was there except that it sounds like they were really busy and he doesn’t like Jazz(as he commented that it «added to the noise level»). The service was impeccable, the food was great, the ambiance was great, the wine was great. Definitely going back on a Sunday for brunch.

My wife and I thought we’d try out this new restaurant that replaced Olmos Park Bistro, but almost immediately we wished we’d stayed home. What a disappointment. We arrived at the restaurant on a Friday night at around 7:30pm and the restaurant was crowded(we were later told that a large portion of the restaurant was reserved for a private party, but we weren’t told that upon our arrival). A jazz ensemble was playing in one of the dining areas, adding to the noise level. We were ushered to a tiny two person table in the back corner of a side room. After we were seated, the room filled up rapidly with other diners, including a large table of high school students who, without any supervision or assistance by the staff, proceeded to pull together all remaining available tables into one large table immediately adjacent to my wife and me. There was very little space between us and the large table, so my wife and I were occassionally joined at our table by a waiter’s butt whenever he would pass by to serve the next table — not very appetizing or romantic. However, the restaurant was so short-staffed that we didn’t see a waiter(or a waiter’s butt) very often. We observed other diners resorting to self-help by retreiving water and tea pitchers on their own from the wait-station. Our waitress was very nice and working as hard and fast as she could, but we still rarely saw her. She apologized for the situation and told us we had picked a bad night to come to the restaurant. I only wish someone would have told us that before we were seated and had ordered our meal. To their credit, our food did come promptly and was hot. We both ordered pizzas and they were fine — nothing spectacular, but certainly ok. The service and the atmosphere is where things went badly wrong. It was so noisy that we couldn’t hear one another at a normal conversational level despite the confined space we found ourselves in. We ate about half our meal and then decided to pull the ripcord. Ten minutes later, after flagging down a frantic bus-boy and requesting a visit from our waitress, we paid our bill and bailed out of our unpleasant predicament. We won’t be coming back.
