I kept debating whether this was truly a 4 star place but decided that ambience added that umph for me to say, «I’m a fan». It was small enough to feel intimate but big enough to enjoy a mix of people. The décor was warm & well done. The sunroom seating is a pleasant option to get that outdoor feeling without being hot. The waitress was professional & the owner was personable & comped dessert with drinks because it was my husbands birthday– Nice! So I have established a warm inviting feel to the place, now the food. I liked that it offered cold & raw vegetable dishes as appetizers, apart from the typical salads. I find when embarking on rich food as with French, that a raw light dish, is a pleasant start. I started with a tomato & watermelon salad. It was light with only 4 ingredients but in this case, simpler was better. My main course; Salmon was rich, creamy & well cooked. I liked the unusual addition of pine nuts & hearts of palm, it added depth to a dish that could’ve easily been lost in the cream. Serving size on both app & main was plentiful. The final dish was the crepes, they were good but not stellar. This was a good overall experience, both food & ambiance didn’t disappoint but I wouldn’t call this place outstanding.

One of the best places in San Antonio if you’re feeling spendy. Definitely good for romantic date night, special occasions, or just an overall good meal. Had a daily special: sea scallops. Most tender scallops and a great sauce to go with. Dessert-off: apple crêpe vs. crème brûlée. WINNER: crêpe topped with apple slices and vanilla ice cream. Crème brûlée was good but nothing spectacular compared to the crêpe.

Have dined here twice, Christmas Eve dinner and today for lunch. This is such a wonderful little find. Raw oysters, scallops, red fish, eggs benedict, salads, wine, and the desserts. Check out the web site, great date place, lunch or just to pamper yourself because the service is second to none. Outstanding, oh so quaint and ask about specials. Yes can get a little pricey but worth every penny. Enjoy also Brunch on Sunday.

A Favorite for San Antonio Sunday Brunch… I always have Bouvet(sparkling wine from Loire) and Eggs Benedict but so many other delicious sounding items, so few Sundays to try!

Great food, reasonable wine prices(around $ 30 for a Trimbach Pinot Gris). Tenderloin was cooked medium rare as ordered and was seasoned well. Panko crusted redfish was light and not weighed down with oil. Layered beet /goat cheese appetizer was beautifully plated. Tuna /shrimp tostadas were messy, but tasty. And for dessert– a perfect chocolate soufflé. Absolutely a great dinner! We were in a group of about 13 people and they even did separate checks for us.

The Real French Deal! Very authentic and enjoyable. Not hoity-toity — casual and fun. Reasonable prices and generous portions. Excellent service. Great soups. Enjoy the Pomme Frites!

Bargain of the month. The 3 course pre fixe dinner for $ 19.00(5 – 6.30pm) including Saturday night. I was willing to surrender my right to select from the menu for the savings. The menu changes frequently so you probably may not see the tomato and goat cheese salad, drum with a lemon caper sauce accompanied by rice and green beans(the other choice was chicken cordon bleu and fries) and white and dark chocolate mousse. Their fries are as good as I have had from a restaurant, nice quantity, crispy and salted perfectly. They offer 4 choices of house wine in which you can purchase a 15 ounce pitcher(about 4 glasses) for $ 20?, another good bargain. Service was excellent, both from the waiter, wait staff and the chef who stopped by to inquire if we were satisfied.

Ok – I wanted to try OPB and glad I did – it is so mediocre I had to write this – first, the owner/maitre d would not seat me where I wanted to be, he was gruff and arogant;I was seated in the dingy little front dining area neat the parking lot, cramped and ugly; for some readon the slightly airier main dining room was dark;he wait staff was curteous, got my order quickly. It was average – mussels and french fries; all the while I watched this pompous owner seating people in the area I had requested also, instead of seeing if the meal was ok, he was chatting and flirting with a table full of women – fine. In a nutshell, rude owner, dismall atmosphere, ok food. Not worth it…

I had my first experience at Olmos Park Bistro yesterday, and it won’t be the last. The food, service, and ambiance were divine. I ate raw oysters that were well presented and very tasty. For my main course, I had the steak tartar with pomme frites. I can say that these are my new favorite french fries in San Antonio. Our waitress was extremely helpful and knowledgeable. Overall, an excellent spot. I can’t wait to try some of the other dishes.

Vive le Bistro! My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our date night dining experience at Olmos Park Bistro, where we felt instantly transported to the City of Light. We ordered a large pichet of the Cote du Luberon(fantastic! love that they offer 3 house wines served in terra cotta pitchers) and perused the menu, settling on the escargots and the brie en croute. Both were delicious. The escargots were chewy, garlicky morsels, and the brie was melty, earthy goodness. For dinner, my husband ordered the duck cassoulet(rich and smoky, the sausage was particularly good in this classic comfort food dish) and I had the lobster salad – ginormous chunks of lobster served over avocado slices in a light herbal mayo, greens on the side. I couldn’t finish it all, but we still opted for something sweet to end our meal. The apple tart with berries and crème anglaise was to die for. Attentive, enthusiastic service and lovely upscale ambiance was the cherry on top of our already-great evening.

Food continues to be excellent. They still have not gotten their liquor license so this time we brought in our own wine for each course. The wine and company were amazing. I had the park salad, mushroom risotto and steak tartar. All of which were delicious and worth going back for more. Sadly the downer was the service. Our server did not know the menu and kept having to refer back to notes. Now, I know they are a new restaurant and all but seriously. Any finer dining joint has staff that know the menu. Besides that it was incredibly slow. We wanted to dine while we enjoyed our wine and food. This I-dot…brought our salad at the same time as our dinner and sides… We made the best of it and just drank more wine. Too bad we did not bring more bottles. The ambiance and the food continue to exceed my expectations. If they can get the staff up to par everything will be great. Come in and give it a try the food will blow you away.

I went on second day that it opened. It was a little pricey but the food was worth the price. The panko crusted redfish came covered with shrimp, clams, and mushrooms and was very very good. The bread was average. They don’t have their liquor license yet so they can’t sell you alcohol. But, you can bring your own for free which makes it that much more affordable since there’s no markup on the wine. If you forget, there’s a Don and Ben’s just down the street…
