Great service, great food, great environment. Party of six, and everyone loved their meals. Spinach dip is top notch and the crab dip is delicious. Burger is the best around. Grilled chicken salad with the peanut dressing is amazing. I had the fish of the day, Red Snapper. Was prepared perfectly and tasted great! Prices are fair for what you are getting. Love it here!

Love this place!!! Food was delicous and the portions a good size. Had the Ribs and my friend had a sandwich he loved. The only thing that would make them better if they had a location in Rockville and i could go every week. Grillmarx your the best around.

Since I was in Maryland, I came to GrillMarX with the intention of ordering crab cakes. However, when our server reviewed the specials, I had to get the ahi tuna salad. The tuna was perfectly rare and served in about one inch squares beside the salad. I really liked that, as sometimes it can get lost in the lettuce. The salad was perfectly seasoned, and I was very pleased with my entrée choice. We also ordered a dozen raw oysters(6 Blue Points and 6 Malpeques) which came with four different sauces. I enjoyed the hot sauce and one that tasted like it had a vinegar base. They were nice departures from the cocktail sauce and horseradish typically served with oysters. We had great, friendly service and ate on the early side, so were able to quickly be seated and done in about an hour in order to make another engagement.

Great food and exemplary service! Went lunch on a whim with a friend and I’m glad we decided to check out this place. The steak and Gouda nachos were AMAZING! The only thing that made me a little sad was they ran out of their yellow coconut cake and it wasn’t even 3:30. If you’re in the Olney area, check this place out.

Food is excellent. We got the chicken satay, crab cakes, and veggie burger. It is a bit pricey but I think it’s worth it for a really good meal. Nice outdoor seating, inside is a bit loud. FYI– You have to ask for the happy hour deals here. Had dinner at 6 pm on a Thursday but somehow still felt extremely rushed by the server as if it were prime time on a Saturday night.

I have resided in Olney, Maryland for 45 years and had lunch today with two special friends at GrillMarX. The owner, Jackie Leach, was very hospitable and made us feel very much at home. Staff members were very courteous and attentive. The service and food was excellent, portions were abundant and the ambience of GrillMarX is delightful. I look forward to returning to this exceptional restaurant in the very near future. Rob Kidwell Olney, Maryland

Had dinner tonight and ordered filet mignon for my son. Asked for the steak to be cook medium — however medium well preferred if the chef were able to cook properly. «Will it be butterflied?» Waitress, «Oh yes. Absolutely.» Perfect! Sadly the chef cut the steak in half — not properly so that there were two mirrored, thinner pieces to grill. Rather cut in half, down the middle. Burned exterior, purple in the center. For a «grill» restaurant, this was an epic fail. Too tired to call over the manger to teach the chef. Ate what we could, paid, left.

Excellent food and service. Ribs were succulent, shrimp and grits were amazing and perfectly cooked. The waiter seemed like he had a sixth sense and anticipated our every need without feeling intrusive. Housemade salad dressings were very tasty. Chairs were comfortable, ambiance was cozy — an all around excellent evening.

The atmosphere is great but there are a few things that aren’t up to par with it. Some of the food is what you could get a places at a lower price with the same quality food. The steak is definitely better than what you would get at places similar to outback. A lot of the entrees are of little to a decent portion but if you’re looking to get full(depending on how much you eat) be prepared to pay the price. The sides are pretty good but this place would be somewhere you would go once in awhile but I personally would not be coming here anytime soon. I would recommend paying a little more for a more better steakhouse

Hands down the best place to eat in Olney. The staff is friendly. The food is very good(ribs are to die for). If you belly up to the bar when Andy and Dave are working, prepare to be entertained.

If I were rating just the food, I’d give Grill Marx a 4. I’d give the crab dip a 10! If I were rating the service, I’d give them a 5. I’ve eaten here twice and had excellent servers each time. It is wonderful when the flow of courses is well timed. If I were rating just the atmosphere, Grill Marx would get a 1. It is SOLOUD. The acoustics are terrible and it is difficult to carry on a conversation. The loud bartenders and their apparently devoted regulars can be heard throughout the restaurant. I left both visits with a headache from the noise. I probably won’t visit again. Too bad, because the food is worth a visit.

Rich, dark cherry woods, plush interior, and great service are what comes to mind when thinking about Grillmarx Steakhouse. The menu is reminiscent of Houston’s restaurant. One of the owner’s worked for the Houson’s chain and has hand selected menu items that are very similar. We sampled the crab bisque which was thick, creamy and rich. One diner enjoyed the veggie burger and fries. She said she could not tell that it wasn’t meat. Juicy and seared perfectly it looked delicious. Another diner ordered the barbecue ribs. They were large, meaty, crisp, and tender. I enjoyed the Caesar salad topped with grilled chicken. The portion size was huge and the caesar dressing generous and tasty. The ravioli was creamy and filled with savory goodness. For desert, the crème brûlée was decadent and filling. They have a large selection of meats to chose from. It was noisy in the dining room as other reviewers have mentioned. Our server, Martin was an absolute delight. He was attentive and eager to please. It is fairly expensive, but if you are looking for a fine dining alternative in the metro area it fits the bill.

I have been watching the ratings on GrillMarx drop over the past year and I have wondered why. Well, I now have the answer after last nights meal. Very sad! My wife and I met some friends out last night… and while the company was terrific, the food was not so good. My wife got a burger and I got the prime rib. Spinach dip for appetizer. First the burger… OMG! This was very very sad. Asked for rare, but got medium well. Absolutely no flavor and no seasoning. I am sorry to say that this is very unacceptable! The specialty here is meat! If they cannot do it perfectly then they should not be charging what they are. It has been many years since I have had a fast food burger, but they are only $ 1 or 2 and taste much better! Second, the Prime Rib… Done the way I asked for it, but not seasoned at all. It seemed to be to be a lesser grade than I get at the butcher. Again, a steak house and not doing a great job. No seasoning and lesser grade of meat. Hey GrillMarx, did you know that there are many locally sourced cattle farms in the area that produce very high quality beef that would taste much better than the lower quality beef you serve! That is how I get my steaks! Let me say, the sides were done perfectly. bravo to the sous chef! Spinich dip had good flavor, but they did not throw it under the broiler as the cheese on top was not melted and was cold. Lazy! The reason I dropped to a 1 star review was not only due to the poor quality of preparation, and lack of seasoning, but also the fact that they charge for a higher quality experience and way under deliver!!! I don’t mind paying for a good meal… but don’t give me this!!! I think this is the classic example of a place that did a great job when they opened and people just go because that is how they remember it. ITISNOLONGER like it once was! I see this becoming one of those old retirement home hangouts in the upcoming year. Reminiscing about the old days when the meals once tasted like something!

Neighborhood gem restaurant. Literally less than a 5 minute walk from my house. Located in a perfect shopping center in middle of Olney. I came here a couple times with my fiancé, I love their artichoke app, their crab dip is soo good, the tuna app is nice, the rib eye is good but one time it was nothing like what I had ordered previously and that really annoyed me. My all time favorite is the corn salad. I’m dieting for my wedding so im sorry that’s my favorite thing to eat here. This is only temporary lol Besides that’s it’s really a nice place especially in the summer. Love the outdoor seating, music and waterfall right outside the restaurant. Very romantic bit can get very loud on the weekends by the bar. If your single and looking– this is your spot :)

My husband wanted a steak and I wanted to sit outside to celebrate a special occasion, so Grill Marx seemed like the best option. WRONG! We arrived at 7:43 and we’re told it would be about a 15 minute wait. I saw there were 4 empty tables outside but figured 15 minutes would be ok. I stated we preferred outside but would take either. The«hostess» aka owner said outside would be quicker but asked me to give her our name and phone number so she could text us when our table was ready. 35 minutes later we are still waiting. We finished our round at the bar and decided not to order another $ 18.00 round so we could enjoy a bottle of wine with dinner. It is now 8:25, I have now counted 13 empty tables inside. We walk outside to enjoy the night while we wait for our text for our long waited for table and see there are 8 empty tables outside. Ten more minutes later, we were hungry so we went to Sol Azteca. We were in and out in under 25 minutes… and you guessed it, still not text for our table. We paid and left Sol Azteca and stopped back by Grill Marx to see what the story was. I had to interrupt the owner and 4 employees mid sentence of their laughing and goofing around to inquire why the patio only had 3 tables occupied and very few in the restaurant, and we were yet to receive a text. It is now 9:05, that is over an hour from the given wait time. She stated she had looked for us in the bar, which was untrue. By the time we left there were very few patrons in the bar. She never came into the bar looking for us. If she specifically asked for my number to text me when the table was ready, she should have texted me. When I let the owner know how upset I was about my special dinner being chips and salsa and fajitas, not the steak and wine dinner we had planned, her response«have a good night»…seriously how about I am so sorry? Please let me make it up to you,.etc. NOPE, we get a have a good night. This was my 3rd and last time going here. Funny, the last time we went and the same owner was the bartender we had a bad experience.

A busy place on a Saturday night, there is a fountain outside and there’s lots of families and children running through it. In true Moco fashion though the place clears out quickly when it gets late. Beers were cold and the staff brought over a cold glass with each, a nice touch. The crab dip appetizer was just as good as the reviews said. It was far more dip than the bread provided but the staff was very accommodating about bringing extra bread and chips. I ordered a NY strip medium rare with bleu cheese herb butter and a side Caesar salad, another props to the server for letting me get a salad as a side. The salad was good and my strip was cooked correctly, which is a feat alone. It could have been seasoned better but was overall tasty. My boyfriend has this curse where his steaks are cooked incorrectly lol… His fillet came out rare, but they were great about getting it to medium rate quickly. He loved his Mac and cheese side and steak. My friends enjoyed their steak salad and chicken sandwich. The server also helped my friend rediscover a drink she’d had more than a year ago there. Prices were reasonable enough, maybe a bit on the pricey side. Have to dock them a little for setting up for Sunday brunch right behind us at 945pm on a Saturday. But this place is a nice gem for something nestled in a strip mall.

Still as good as it opened several years ago. We ordered steaks and prime rib with loaded baked potato and man it was so good. They have kids menu and the bar is always packed. With a packed bar, unfortunately, the bar noise carries over to the main dining room, so you have to yell really loud to hear your dining companions. Wish they can do something about the noise like adding tablecloths to tables or a wall of glass to block out that bar noise. Not a place to bring elders. Other than the noise, service is attentive and the food rocks. Dinner for 4 adults and 2 kids meals with drinks and tip was $ 220. Not too bad but ain’t cheap either.
