Just visited recently, service was great and had awesome pizza! Hard to find places that care about their ingredients :) Picked up a loaf of spelt bread on the way out and was great!

I had high hopes for this bakery. We came in on a whim while out and about. It has a fair selection of products, but the service was awful. I understand being understaffed and stressed, but the server at the counter was outright rude to me. I don’t mind slow service when I’m just there to hang out and read, but I felt so unwelcome that I wanted to get my coffee and leave immediately. It made me sad that a local establishment that I would like to support was so unwelcoming.

This is your classic Olympia establishment. It’s local and it’s crunchy but the product is not good and the service is terrible. The baked goods remind you of that time that your mom when on a health kick and started baking«treats» that tasted like sawdust and had the texture of baked Playdough. Their items have a home-made quality to them, which reminds me of why I don’t try to make croissants and flakey pastries at home! The service was also classic Olympia. It might be a good exercise for parents to take their children in on a Saturday morning for a little life lesson. «Kids don’t do drugs or you will not have the cognitive skills neccessary to take a breakfast order and you will have no job». Except this is Olympia, so minimally competant/sober is not a criteria for employment! Here was our breakfast experience this morning: wait at counter in a long line while the world’s slowest worker attempted to take orders and make coffee. The cashier must have been very hung-over/stoned. Asked what kind of bread the breakfast sandwich came on. The cashier didn’t know so he asked the cook who picked up a bag of rolls and said«it comes on these rolls. I don’t know what they are.»(This is a bakery!) We then sit down and wait about a year watching the line of people at the register not move at all. Two parties left before ordering. Finally, we get one of the two entrées we ordered. We assume that the other entrée is coming. After a long wait, I go back to the counter to check. The cashier looks at me totally stoned and the cook responds in confusion asking what we had. We sit back down and wait for another 10+ minutes. Eventually, the cook comes out to run some food to another table and notices us sitting there with our empty dishes from the one entrée we were served. He looks confused and asked what we ordered. We explain and he apologizes saying«oh I guess we forgot. I thought you were just being impatient, I’ll go make your sandwich. It only takes a minute.» After 45-minutes we get our fried egg sandwich. The egg whites were not cooked. But The cook gave us a couple cookies with it, which was nice. The mystery is how a place like this stays in business.

Bakery has no fresh breads, cookies, or food as stated on menu! I’ve been here a few times to try to support local business, but it’s not easy to buy when nothing is available. I leave with a milkshake that’s all they have and coffee. Terrible selection!

Just moved into town, and I live nearby this place, so I decided to check it out. I just popped in and looked around. A nice looking place, with bread on shelves, and a glass case with baked goods ready to be sold. I found the selection in the case was pretty lacking, and everything looked over-baked. I ordered a cinnamon roll and a croissant. The cinnamon roll was extremely over-baked, and dry, with almost no detectable cinnamon. The croissant was bland and dry, seemingly like they didn’t use enough butter. I’m going to try it again because everyone rates it so highly. I hope my next visit is a little better.

The new place has great seating. Alas service is lacking. Our French toast order was forgotten and when we asked about it they said we has not paid. We had paid. 40 minutes later it arrived.

Long time fan. Best bread and pastry bakery in Olympia. They stick with high quality and mostly organic ingredients. Their new location offers a breakfast, lunch and dinner menu which includes delicious wonderfully made pizza pies from scratch. Blue Heron Bakery also offers live music on occasion. They started a coffee bar too but their barista needs some work. I don’t go there for the coffee. The bakery is a must try. Don’t leave Olympia without visiting. If you live in Olympia and haven’t stopped in what are you waiting for? You have been missing out on one of the best bakeries Olympia has to offer.

Pretty bad. We wanted a breakfast Sunday morning. We both ordered the country potato meal. Potatoes could not have been plainer. And this was the highlight? I ordered my eggs scrambled. Blah. Not even scrambled well, one egg, and super plain. My friend ordered the frittata. That was one of the specials if the day. Awful! It was not fresh, not warm, tiny portion and tastless. The staff mixed up the order so my friend did not even get one slice of toast. We won’t go back.

CHOCOLATEBEETCAKE! If you love beets and chocolate cake, look no further. They also make a wonderful biscuits and gravy. I love the rustic nature of all the food at Blue Heron. My kid would kill me if I didn’t mention their ice cream milkshakes. There’s a little something for everyone here.

It’s been 3 months since my first review. The new location is «settling in» and there seems a greater selection later in the day than when I first came here in June. That makes it a good place for afternoon coffee/tea or a snack.

Let me first start off with this place has a great vibe but other than that, the food was lacking in flavor. The building used to our old office’s conference room. They did a great job remodeling. I had the a cup of carrot ginger soup and a lamb calzone. The soup had just enough hit of ginger and it was amazing. I would have liked to give that lamb calzone back as it had no flavor at all. I can’t even begin to describe what I was eating. I gave it a 2 star due to great soup and remodeled building. I don’t think I’ll be back.

Nice new location. My all time favorite is cream cheese carrot cake and espresso. I always stop by when I’m in Olympia.

This place excites the nerd in me. Why, you ask? Well, because Blue Heron is now located in what used to be the conference room of my organization’s old office space. And before that it was a warehouse for lottery tickets(isn’t it kinda cool to know the history of a building???). They have done a fabulous job converting an old warehouse/office space into an awesome bakery/café. It’s a HUGE improvement from where they last were, which I drove by many times but never felt compelled to stop. I love the repurposed wood used for tables… LOVE the rotating display of artwork. I have my eye on a few pieces for purchase! The food… It’s quintessential Olympia. It’s fresh and a bit on the«crunchy» side. «Green» if you might. Being gluten and dairy free is challenging… There really isn’t a lot here I can eat, but the Carrot and Ginger Soup and the salads have been great. The soup… Three of us ate it and all were raving about it… Sweet start with a warm finish. I could eat this everyday. Really. Well, maybe in the fall and winter. Coworkers had pizza… Super fresh sauce! And calzones(lamb!)… Which they loved and I thought smelled amazing. There is a nice little outdoor seating area, too… Complete with bowls of water for our furry friends(deer have been seen roaming the parking lot). I’ve been here twice and have yet to try their gluten free pizza… The dough is never ready when I’m there. I cannot wait to try it!

4.4 stars. Great consistent espresso with wonderful breads and BB’s. BB’s? Yes… you must try them. They will change your life. The new location manages to retain some of the charm of the old location even though it’s in a new building. They had live music playing on a Sunday afternoon and their outdoor space is private and peaceful. Sourdough walnut bread, espresso and BB’s. It’s that hippy dippy stuff, mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm…

I’ve tried their goodies at the Farmer’s Market. Yum! Dropped into new location last night to pick up some ice cream. OMG! The stuff is nothing shy of amazing! Smoothest texture. Creamy. Delicious. Incredible. $ 6.99 for a pint so it was a splurge, but knowing it was handmade with the best ingredients makes it worth it. Totally recommend!

This long-time beloved Olympia bakery recently moved and opened a café serving wonderful breakfasts and lunches. Healthy, tasty, and reasonably priced. Plus, the bakery is still here so you can pick up a loaf of artisan bread or something sweet to top off your meal. They also make a mean latte with my favorite — hemp milk — being one of the options.

Great service, great food. Only disappointed thing is portions on the frittatta sandwich which was good, was only a half, should’ve been a whole. But with that said, we’ll be bsck.
