Awesome, awesome tacos! Best Mexican food I’ve had in a while! Had a goat taco, chorizo taco, adobada taco, plus an order of rice and beans for about $ 9.50. Chips(not like your average TexMex tortilla chip!) and salsa(slightly sweet) come free when you dine-in and there are at six sauces you can add to your food. Portions are generous and the food is excellent. Be advised, knowing some Spanish will make things easier as some of the menu isn’t fully translated. Crowded at noon on a Sunday. Cash only.

Not bad, not great. I’ve had much better Mexican food elsewhere. The place could certainly be considered a «hole-in-the-wall». Service was fine(and fast) but she didn’t speak English. The free chips and salsa were OK. I did enjoy the variety of homemade salsa provided though. A little overpriced for the quality.

Stop#4 on the 2015 Unilocal taco tour. By this point, my appetite was waning. I had already consumed a lot of food and drink. Also important to note, this was the most crowded/popular out of the 5 stops we visited too. BUT! Goat tacos! They were awesome! When you stop and think, there are more than a handful of places in South Omaha on /near S. 24th street serving up some fantastic Mexican food and tacos. That is no issue here in town. However, if you want to try something different than what other places around south Omaha can offer, I challenge you to try these goat tacos. They were a change up from my normal chorizo-azada-el pastor-lengua-cheek mix, and boy, was I surprised. Goat in my past(mainly eaten with middle eastern and indian food) has been tough, and honestly a little gamey. This goat was so melt in your mouth delicious I confused it with the fatty cheek cut that I typically order. Complimentary chips and garnishes here too, always a plus. CASHONLY. I shall return!

Unreal! This is a far cry from the TexMex garbage you’re use to in Omaha. The free chips and salsa came out complimentary. I ordered three tacos(2 asada and 1 lengua), rice, beans, gaucamole and an orange pop. I was only able to finish about 2⁄3 of the meal before waddling out of the restaurant. The food was fantastic and one of the cheaper lunches you will find. Bring cash and it helps if you can speak a little Spanish like Uno Dos and Tres.

I worked right across the street for an entire year before my students convinced me to try out this little place. It’s nothing special on the inside(and easy to miss on the outside!), but the food and sweet people who work there make it worthwhile. While the staff doesn’t speak much English(lots of pointing going on when I’m there), they are very patient! The tacos and tortas(like a big taco sandwich) with asada are my favorites, washed down with a big glass of horchata. Lately El Chalan has upped their game by adding roasted peppers, onions, and radishes on the side. They are also one of the seemingly rare places around town that offer complimentary chips and salsa. I took 40 teens here on a field trip and they were extremely helpful and understanding, which is the biggest compliment I can give!
