Beat meal I’ve had in a long time. Very cool atmosphere that fits the monastary theme. The service was very attentive, our server have is status updates on our meal. The beer & wine selection was extensive The salad bar was fantastic, I’d recommend the Italian dressing. I had the prime rib, which I highly recommend. It was cooked perfectly. I’d definitely go back the next time I’m in town!

This is great old school steskhouse. A little pricey, but great atmosphere, and very good food. Don’t go here expecting a modern steakhouse like Flemings. Go, knowing you’re helping keep the old school alive and well, and have a great steak!

You have just entered another world. Its dark inside and you think you hear the monk’s chanting. The salad bar has its own alcove. Could this be real? It is. The monk’s love steak and you will find a large selection on the menu. Ok, its not really a monestary but the food is good and the value is a bonus. I ordered the petite filet which included the salad bar and two veggies. Very good. My wife was not as hungry so she ordered a lobster bisque(yes they have that too) and fried veggies. The beer list is extensive and features a wide-selection of local brews. Plenty of free parking and leave sunglasses in the car.

I’ll give a 4.25. Solid atmosphere. Nice, fairly quiet and dark place. Set in an old-world atmosphere, decorated with monks. Solid wine list, but lacks a bit on the beer side. Phenomenal service. Waiter was well-versed in the menu and described the variations on their steaks very well. Wife had the filet, which was cooked pretty much perfectly. My ribeye was thinner than expected, but perfectly cooked with a great flavor. Best I’ve had in a while. Kids menu was plain, but covered the basics pretty well. My kids could’ve split one hamburger. The scampi appetizer was good. One shrimp in each slot of an escargot dish, covered with cheese. For dessert, we had a decent cheesecake with strawberry sauce, and the flaming baked Alaska. At our table, the waiter set ablaze some 151 and then poured it over the marshmallow top. Would definitely recommend it.

I made a reservation a week before and they were pretty full. The place gets five stars for ambience but I’d say three stars for food. When you get there you hear music outside that sounds like church bells and some songs. When you enter you see that the restaurant is divided in several rooms one is a library one is a wine cellar one is a fireplace. All the tables are very private and everything is very dim. All the meals include a salad bar which is in a room by itself. I ordered a queen size prime rib and asked for it medium. It was brought to me rare and I sent that back, for a little extra time and then it was pretty good, the meet did look a little pale. My boyfriend had a combination plate of steak and chicken, he said it was good but says that the next time he would order only steak. All meals come accompanied by veggies or potato and another side. Service was great and the waitress was always around in case we needed anything. They let you take in cakes for celebrations. This is definitely a nice place to visit. It is romantic and private and the food is good, that’s right good, not great.

I found Brother Sebastian’s on Unilocal when I arrived in Omaha from Atlanta. I like to try non-chains when I am in a new town. I liked the food and service so much, I came back the next night. I would encourage everyone to try it. You will like it.

I don’t get the hype, this place is a Texas Roadhouse with ambiance. The filet tasted like it came from a box of Omaha steaks, which are really not that good. The service and drinks were good, so I gave it 3 stars. If you’re visiting Omaha and looking for a nice steakhouse, keep moving by this one.

A truly unique place to dine. It had been at least 10 yrs since our visit this past weekend and we wondered why it had been so long! This place is super romantic and I love all their cool rooms to dine in. It almost feels as if you have been transported to the 1940’s or are in a place you only see in the movies. We didn’t have a reservation but we only waited 10mins and our table was next to the fireplace. Our server was with us promptly and answered any questions we had. They have an amazing wine list and unique dishes, like frog legs! Over all we had a wonderful time and our dinner was exquisite. We will definitely return soon.

A fun night out. The atmosphere is incredibly unique. The staff was prompt and courteous. The food was delicious. My husband and I got the prime rib and it was perfection. He went for some escargot which he loved but I passed on. I had their French onion soup instead which was superb. Don’t pass on the salad bar.

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this place! The setting at Brother Sebastian’s is truly one of kind. It’s like the York Steak House married Disney’s Haunted Mansion and had a baby. I could seriously live here, move my family in, and just call it a life — you know, like the Munsters or something. No joke — this place was designed with me in mind. Just driving into the parking lot for the first time is a surreal experience. There are no windows. The whole building is long, grey, and completely non-descript, save for a few bells in a faux church tower. That it is attached to a rather seedy-looking strip mall just adds to its mystique. As you exit your car(or pick-up truck, in the case of most Omahans) you’ll immediately be greeted by the sound of Gregorian chants echoing into the night. If you linger long enough, you’ll notice one elderly couple after another slowly and stoically plodding their way to the entrance, as if being gently called by the gods of the dead to their afterlife. Inside it is dark — very dark. Heavy, thick wood beams abound. Giant walls lined with old oak casks separate one small room for another, of which there are many. The 1970s live on here; in fact — they thrive. This is a time warp to another dimension; a more fun dimension; a place where Baked Alaska isn’t just a relic of the past — it’s dessert. As for the food, it’s one full click less expensive than a traditional high-end steakhouse. And that’s a good thing, because the steaks are not quite up there with the best I’ve ever had in Omaha. They are good, though. And the salad bar, while simple, has very fresh ingredients and will help prepare your colon for the red meat bonanza to come. Prime Rib is their specialty, and I regret not getting it because it looked even better than my New York Strip with peppercorn sauce.(You won’t find any fancy French terms like«au poivre» in these parts.) The vegetable of the night was steamed broccoli drizzled with cheddar cheese sauce. I felt like I was eating at my grandmother’s house circa 1979. And I wasn’t kidding about the Baked Alaska — it’s another speciality here. I’m not even sure what it is other than a giant pile of meringue, drizzled with some kind of syrup that’s on fire and gently chars the outside of the sugary, spongy, goodness inside. Service was excellent as well. All of the servers are dressed as monks. I mean, why not? If you’re going to go through all the effort to do this whole schtick, you may as well do it all the way. I was happy, however, to find that the Gregorian chants are only playing outside, and not all throughout dinner. Not much else to say except, if you haven’t been here — you’d best put it on your list. Because you won’t find a place like Brother Sebastian’s anywhere else. This is one of those unique finds in life that you’ll talk about for years.

Brother Sebastian’s is one of those restaurants whose name I’ve been overhearing since I was a kid and that has been on my «to try» list for almost as long. I was swiping through my Unilocal Bookmarks for a new place to try for lunch and saw Brother Sebastian’s. I checked their website and, sure enough, they’re open for lunch and have a discounted lunch menu. So, finally, I decided to give the place a try. They’ve been in business for almost 40 years, so they must be doing something right. I ordered the Beef Stroganoff with Green Beans for my lunch entrée. I also added a trip to the salad bar and a cup of their Chicken Salsa soup. The salad bar is just that — a SALAD bar. It’s not like the salad bars in some restaurants where you can get pudding, pasta salad, jello, and a dozen other non-salad cold items. It’s meant for you to make your own dinner salad. I was surprised at how many people were disappointed in the salad bar in their reviews. Were they expecting Golden Corral? You can always, at Brother Sebastian’s and at ANY restaurant with a salad bar, choose to get up and go browse the salad bar before deciding to purchase it. It’s not a restricted area under surveillance. The Chicken Salsa soup was good. A little off-theme for this restaurant, but tasty. It was creamier than I expected and had plenty of chicken in it. The Beef Stroganoff had a very tasty base sauce made with red wine and mushrooms. I could drink that stuff out of a cup. The beef tips in the Stroganoff were a bit on the dry side. Almost like they were overcooked before being added to the sauce. It didn’t ruin the entrée, but it made what could have been a great dish into an okay dish. Green Beans were fresh(so tired of canned vegetables in restaurants) and very flavorful. Prices are on par with most steakhouses. You won’t pay fine dining prices, but you also aren’t going to be paying Applebee’s prices either. This place hovers somewhere in-between. Service was attentive and friendly. I asked questions about a couple of entrées and she was ready with the answers. My iced tea never went empty during my meal and she stopped by, both after my soup and salad were served and again after my entrée was served, to make sure it was to my satisfaction. The place is a bit of a theme restaurant(something that was popular several decades ago when Brother Sebastian’s first opened, but has fallen out of style). It’s designed inside and out to be reminiscent of a monastery and as you approach the building there is the music of monks chanting being played(only outside — inside is normal restaurant background music). The wait staff even where these outfits that pay homage to a monk’s frock. It is dimly lit, but no more than most old-fashioned steakhouses tend to be, If you walk inside at lunch time(or at dinner time in the height of the Summer) then your eyes are going to need to adjust from the bright sunlight to dim romantic restaurant lighting. It takes maybe 5 minutes. If it’s really that much of a problem for you, then you may need to see an eye doctor. They could make the area around their entrance and hostess stand a little brighter to aid in the transition. I really like their dining area. It’s nothing like the high-ceiling’ed wide open dining areas that so many modern restaurants have opted for. They’ve created an intimate dining experience where they’ve divided their space into several small rooms. Several of those rooms have fire places and, of course, they all stick to the monastic theme. I can see where this is a popular date night destination as the intimacy certainly lends itself to a romantic dinner. Brother Sebastian’s is tucked away just north of Pacific Street on 119th Street. This is really an odd geographical magnet for some pretty decent restaurants. The southeast quadrant of the 120th& Pacific intersection boasts Big Fred’s, Bagel Bin, Brother Sebastian’s, Shuck’s, Bailey’s, and Bronco’s. All of which are local favorites. Restaurant was clean(as best you can tell in the dim lighting). Some of their wine bottles needed dusting, but nothing disconcerting. It’s a nice place to grab dinner. If you want a superb steak then go to Mahogany, Flemings, or 801 Chophouse where you’ll get served USDA Prime beef(and probably pay out the nose for it). If you want a nice but affordable meal, then Brother Sebastian’s will do nicely.

Was looking forward to a great steak in the state of Nebraska. 3 stars for the bread and the salad bar!!! Minus 2 stars for the meat. The wait staff were very accommodating! This place is huge, but quiet with cozy coves. Great for a large group as well as date nite! I ordered the Sirloin+Chicken with sweet potato. I ordered the petite sirloin medium, Pittsburgh style(charred). It came out well done and not Pittsburgh. Sent it back to the kitchen. It came back medium, but still not Pittsburgh. I tried to make it work with bbq sauce due to the unseasoned meat. Bbq sauce worked for the chicken, but I couldn’t make it work for the steak. Please take into consideration that I am used to the way steak is prepared in Chicago and also I realize that I ordered a cut of steak that is not best for marbling/caramelization. However, the best steakhouses require no sauce on steak. And, in my opinion, this steak just lacked overall flavor. That being said, I’d go back again for the bread and salad bar. And would only order chicken or seafood that was slathered in a creamy sauce so I would be sure to experience a lot a flavor.

We have been to Brother Sebastian’s, most recently on Thanksgiving Day. Brother Sebastian’s is a monastery themed steak house that really knocks the theme out of the park. The steak is good too. You feel the monastery theme from the moment you walk into Bro Sebs. Gregorian Chant plays over the front door. Inside, room themes include a library, a wine cellar, and anything else you’d expect to see in a Middle Ages monastery. The waiters even wear pseudo-monastic robes. The food is great too. It doesn’t quite rise to the level of the theme, but it is very good. It is also expensive. My Prime Rib Hollandaise was a cheaper steak at $ 23.99. This is definitely an old school omaha steak house. If that’s something you for, this is the steak house for you. Large portions, heavy sides, no windows. If not, maybe try something trendier.

Decided to try this location based on what I was told to be a neat place to have a meal. My business partner and I did not have the best of experiences. The interior is super super dark. I could barely see my co-worker or the menu. I get creating an atmosphere but this was a little over the top. The server was short, dis-engaged, and had no interest in us as customers until the end when she brought the check she suddenly wanted to be nice I presume wanting to influence the tip. We told her this was out first visit and was hoping for some history of the place or something. She ignored it and left the table. She was very slow to fill drinks and rarely followed up with us. When you have a themed restaurant your servers should be engaged and telling the story of the them to get the customer jazzed up to be there. The salad bar is simple but has the essential items on it for a good salad. I did enjoy the salad I made from the bar. Just be careful THOSEPLATESAREFREEZING Burrrr lol. I thought my fingers were numb waiting my turn to make the salad. The meal I ordered started with a lobster bisque soup. The server was unable to even explain to me what a lobster bisque soup was or what was in it. I enjoy a quality lobster bisque and they are hard to find sometimes. People have different variations on it around the country. I needed to know what was in it. The server looked at me and said she didn’t know. I asked if there were real chunks of lobster in the soup. She said sure lots of meat. There was a few very very small pea size pieces. The bisque is a simple cream and sauce base with a little pureed lobster pieces and a couple small pieces. I would give it a 3 out of 5 rating. I am just still shocked at how uneducated the server was about the food. She had not even tried most of the menu items and could not explain the dishes properly. I then decided to get the Prime Rib Sebastian with the mushroom and Hollandaise sauce. I requested the prime rib medium pink throughout. The prime rib came out looking like a NY Strip it was partially grilled on both sides, however, it was prime rib. The hollandaise sauce was not good at all. It tasted as if it had turned somehow and upset my stomach. The prime rib had little to no flavor on it’s own. Very under seasoned meat. My business partner’s meal was less than stellar as well. I will let her post her own review of the meal. Overall I must say I was very hopeful going in and unfortunately ended highly disappointed in my experience. I hope others have better experiences here the idea of the location has promise. Hope they are able to tighten up on the staff at some point. Hard to sell what you don’t know about or understand.

First of all, holy darkness, Batman! I understand the vibe they’re going for, but come on! Sadly, I simply cannot understand the hype. Not one bit of my visit here was pleasant. Our reservation was«lost»(even though I made it myself and the restaurant was dead), we were sat in a corner and forgotten for 45 minutes, I never received the drink I ordered and my chicken was not only cold, but raw in the middle. If it was a steak, I would have devoured it happily, but you don’t play around with raw chicken. I asked for it to be put back on the grill or microwaved(not asking for a new one), it was gone for another 30 minutes and returned cold. At least it was cooked all the way through to go into a box and be fed to the dogs once I got home…

Monastery bells and chanting when you approach the building? How cool is that! Place has no windows on the outside but inside the place is huge with different rooms with stain glass. I ordered the king cut prime rib rare and it came queen and medium. But the server took it back to the kitchen and made things right. I’ve been to a lot of restaurants and have to say the monastery schitck blew me away!

I came here so that my wife can try steak for the first time and lucky for me she liked the steak as well as the ambiance. The place is pretty quite and decently lit. There was enough light that I could see what I was eating. The salad bad was not that great but was OK since it was part of the dinner. I ordered Carpaccio and the previous time when i had ordered it the meat was very thin but this time it seemed as if it was cut in a hurry. It was quite thick that I could sense that raw flavor even though I tried to add the capers cheese etc. The Jalapeño bites were very juicy and were the right temperature that I could pop the entire peace into my mouth so that I get the whole experience. Next comes my steak. More than what I expected, super juicy, medium and was perfectly seared on the outside. I had probably the best steak of the year so far. The sweet potato that came with my order was so soft as butter ! The best every I’ve had in a restaurant. My wife got the queen cut benedictine and for a person who is eating steak for the very first time it she said it was really good. I tasted the sauce on top of her steak and it was very well seasoned and great. Overall for the Ambiance, service and the food the price seemed to be very good!

Service-5 stars. Steak-4 stars. Seafood– 1 star. Do not get the seafood. The four stars are for the service and the potential of other food besides seafood. Mistakenly got the seafood platter for 2. Bland and OVERCOOKED. Everything is fried except for the crab, lobster, and salmon. Fried doesn’t necessarily mean it’s good though. The lobster was unflavorful. The crab was the most decent thing on the plate. The salmon was so overcooked, it was hard to cut through with the knife. The manager even said that from looking at it, he could tell it was overcooked. More than $ 100 for that? Don’t do it. The salad bar was good. Loved the Parmesan and peppercorn dressing. I tried my coworker’s prime rib and that was actually really good. #regrets Service, though, was truly delightful. Thanks to our waitress, Jody! The sweetest woman who constantly checked in on us and served us like we were family. Beyond amazing experience. I even saw little kids give her hugs at the end of their meal. We told her about the seafood and she got her manager. The manager, was also really really nice. He apologized and ended up only charging us the price for crab legs, which we didn’t mind since crab legs were actually decent and it was essentially half off of the $ 100 dish. My other coworker also had his salmon undercooked so he only charged him for approx half that. That’s real good service– shows that they care about the customer and the whole dining experience– and for that(plus the steak being pretty good), they deserve my four stars.
