Well, we finally made it back to try out a meal. The menu is pretty small, offering sandwiches, and speciality type pizzas(more of a flatbread pizza). Along with that they do also offer beer and wine. It is a quaint dining area, with a fireplace and some high back chairs to relax in if you are in the mood. I had the Grilled Cheese, my wife the Chicken Salad Sandwich, and our daughter the BBQ Chicken Pizza. The grilled cheese was good, hearty bread and thick cheese. My wife liked her sandwich, though it had a lot of dill, and she just isn’t a big dill fan. My daughter didn’t eat much, but hey, she’s 7. Again the owner came out and was friendly and talkative. She is really trying to please her customers. Overall I would say the menu is better served as more of a lunch menu(it is more coffee house than dinner spot) but the food was good. They have live music on Saturday nights, so it would be a nice place to grab a light dinner and sit back with some beer or wine and enjoy some local music.

I really like this place! Very friendly people, beautiful coffee shop/restaurant. Nothing but good. You need to drive up into Florence to spend some time here. Locally-owned, and well worth patronizing!

Very few places surprise me anymore, but Huckleberry’s sure did. Anyone who has driven down Florence Blvd in the past few years know that there is a nice renovation going on in Florence, but this one takes the cake, or the quiche. The proprietors have gutted this building and made it look as though it were an authentic old Florence business. From the ceiling tiles, to the faux fireplace, nice wooden tables and chairs, window room and outdoor porch, this restaurant just to the north side of the historic Bank of Florence is the exact place this area needs. I was expecting just a coffee shop, advertised as the next music venue in the area, but I found a little gem here. I am always up for a nice quiche and so ordered Mom’s Quiche, which Bev told me actually was her mothers recipe. It came with potatoes and croissant, and was a perfect breakfast meal. I almost forgot it was a coffee shop, with a soon to be drive thru in the rear. There is a Goose Island sign out front, and I was told they will be getting their liquor license in November and will serve(hopefully craft) beers and wines. I am looking forward to seeing what this ‘coffee shop’ turns into, because it could very well become a nice destination place! Congrats Florence!
