My husband and I were invited to a birthday party at Irie. We arrived around 10 and waited in a short line. Upon time to pay the $ 5 cover charge, we realized that the police officers hanging around needed to FRISK my husband. FRISK him. He was told to spread his legs, lean over on a table and 2 officers ran their hands all over him. What in the world is going on at this place? I mean, I think I realize but if they have such a problem with violence I’m not sure I want to hang out there. The drinks we’re a little weak, but reasonably priced. It was busy and hot. There’s a nice VIP area over the bar. If you have to go, you need access up there. I liked the music, but the dance floor is tiny. Bottom line: It’s a club. If you’ve been to one, you’ve been to most. It’s dangerous, apparently, and what with weak drinks and a cover charge, I’ll go elsewhere!

The other reviews accurately describe this place. Upon entering, I was patted down and asked what was in my pockets. While I was answering and pulling the contents out of my pocket(wallet, Blackberry), the security guard stuck his hand in my other pocked and asked what was in there. I responded by saying another phone and my keys. Is it so weird that I have two phones? One is for work and the other is mine. Geesh. The cover charge was $ 5 which isn’t too bad. Once inside, the main level is overtaken mostly by the bar with a little dance floor to the side. The dance floor was empty until a bit later in the evening. After a drink and a shot, we proceeded upstairs where there was a bit more room to move around. We left around midnight and by that time, the dance floors on both levels were packed. This place is okay but the search at the beginning is a little unnerving. I grew up in North Omaha so it isn’t the first time I’ve been searched that way but it didn’t instill much confidence. The music was decent as were the drinks. It’s a pretty run-of-the-mill club. Clubs aren’t really my scene and I was only there for my sister-in-laws 21 birthday. I probably won’t go back.

I completely agree with Dave H. This place is a total meat market. It’s not even worth going to as a bar, in my opinion. When I was there(drug in by friends), the dance floor wasn’t even open. It looks uppity and exciting from the outside, but don’t be fooled. In my opinion, it’s not even worth venturing inside. Off-duty police officers are numerous. Surely there must be a reason for this.

This place is always changing, too bad it’s not for the better. I usually just come here for the whole bar thing. They currently changed the cover charge to 5 bucks for guys and free for chics to get in after 9 or 10pm(cant remember?). Anyway, a new thing they started to do is frisk the guys that enter the place! Haha, a big WTF? and it’s not the barely touch you kind of frisk like what airport security does. It’s full on search and grope your behind in search of what exactly? This is Omaha, not the hood. Are the bouncers that bored? Are they into guys or something? whatever it is, no thanks. I wont be coming back here again.
