This was my first time at their new restaurant. I had seem the commercials and didn’t believe the size of the hamburgers, so I had to see them for myself. I didn’t go to their old restaurant, because it looked like a dive. Boy did I miss out on a good meal. I now know that the burgers were the size that I saw on the commercials, but I was totally surprised by the flavor of the burger. I contained just the right combination of lettuce, tomato, and onions. I didn’t have to add any seasoning to it. The onion rings were good, but nothing to rave about. Based on today’s lunch, we will be going back again to try their other items on the menu.

I’m really not impressed. Went tonight for the first time to try some fast food gyros. $ 10.99 for a gyro, salad, and fries.(I asked for fries because it comes with rice and beans which looked disgusting) boyfriend and I tried both kinds, I had the chicken he had the normal lamb. My chicken gyro was horribly dry, no seasoning and was honestly pretty gross. Also they put probably an entire onion in it. Fries were mushy but still seasoned okay so that was fine. My salad came with no dressing, it was disappointing. I’m also not a fan of pitted olives in my salad. My boyfriends lamb gyro was ok but I was horribly dissatisfied with my dry chicken gyro and will likely not come back to try anything else. If you’re looking for a good gyro joint in Omaha, try Sams Gyros. Their chicken and fries are to die for, and certainly a huge step up from King Kong.

For a $ 13 burger i was at least expecting it to be good. It was big but I’ve had better burgers in cafeterias.

King Kong has become one of the Iconic fast food gyro/steak/burger chains here in Omaha. The food is for sure«Kong» Sized. You will get plenty and if you get the daily specials the prices are pretty good! I usually get the Gyros and depending on the day and location you go they are all a bit different. Some the meat is thin and warm. other days the meat is thin and crispy with a good char on it. Then sometimes the meat is thick cut(those are my favorite) The fries are nothing special, The salads are great with fresh tomatoes, olives and some good chunk sizes of feta. Burgers are also pretty good here with some well done ground and large patty and bun.

I went in to king kong to give it a try after being told it was a decent place for a quick bite in the local subreddit. Given that its a fast food place, I went in not expecting greatness and I was very pleasantly surprised. I got the philly plate and my wife got the gyro plate. The portion size for the price was right on the money. I actually couldn’t finish my plate. My wifes meal was arguably the better of the 2, and i will definitely be going back.

The other day my wife & I stopped here for the first time since they built the new building. On a practical level, the new facility is about 100x better than the old one. MUCH better parking and MUCH better seating. The style of both the inside and outside of the building are nice but not overdone. I also like the fact that they don’t have some trendy music blasting at 125 decibels. Anyway, being Sunday, the special was«Sunday Sirloin» which included two sides, for $ 9.99. My wife got a Gyro. We both got water. I was rather dumbfounded by the size of the sirloin — in a good way! For the price, it was unbelievable. The fries were really good, my salad was good, and my wife loved her Gyro. All in all, this was an unbelievable meal for $ 15! By way of improvement, I’d say it would sure be nice if I could understand the cashier better. I’m not one of these, «Learn English or go home!» kind of guys, but it sure would be nice to be able to communicate. Also, next time around(and there will be a next time), I’ll request no salt & pepper on my steak(there was way too much), and I’ll order it medium or medium rare, instead of medium well. We’ll be back!

Way too high prices! Was like $ 34.98 for two people. For that much you can go eat at a nice restaurant. Food was okay not terrible but not almost $ 40 worth. More like maybe $ 20 for two.

I’ve always liked king kong but the last few visits have been disappointing. First off, that speaker/intercom system whatever it’s called where they take the orders needs to go!!! Lol. Phillys are good here but made me terribly ill. So I’m sort of scared to eat one again. Now at this particular location the burgers have been dry as hockey pucks with no type of flavor for some reason. This makes me sad. Fries are good, but how hard is it to make fries? The service is alright, guy was on the phone when taking our order though for the THIRDTIME! Look, were already having difficulties understanding one another please put your phone down –_– I feel like They pretty much traded a better building for less than mediocre service/food. It’s bad enough their pricey. Which you don’t mind when the food is prepared well & the best thing about your meal is not the Sprite drink! huh??? No! I guess I’ll just have to go further out of my way when craving the kong to the other locations because this time really was just the last straw for me. I tried.

My husband, 3 yo son and I ordered a single burger, double burger, large fries and 2 small drinks for just under $ 34. It wasn’t terrible but the burger wasn’t made to order, and the fries were average. For the price of the food I felt ripped off. We won’t go back.

The first strike was the sign that said No Refunds. The second strike was the high prices. The third strike was the mediocre food accompanied with the tiny drinks. King Kong struck out.

King Kong is one of those places where the menu to me doesn’t always make sense. This newly renovated/rebuilt restaurant is nice and clean. There is ton of wild animal décor, heavy on the Gorillas. I would encourage you to bring a sweater as they keep the temperature pretty low inside the restaurant. The portions are quite healthy and I have nothing bad to say about the food. On this trip I ordered a the Gyro plate. Quite a large serving of food, I was able to have plenty to take home and eat at another time.

Been there before after the renovation, the food taste the same, but the place looks new and nice with a real fast food feel.

I was excited to walk there for lunch today but not so excited when I saw what I planned to order — the gyro salad — was $ 12.00. Since I was already there and hungry, I got it to go. It really was not very good, I ended up throwing half of it away. The dressing, feta and tomatoes were good but the meat was bland and the pieces of lettuce were those yucky bits. I won’t be trying it again anytime soon. I do like their burgers on occasion. They are so huge that I usually split one with my husband. I hadn’t been to this location since they rebuilt. It is a lot bigger and nicer inside than it was.

If you order and eat inside this King Kong location, you will enjoy your meal. The original building was recently demolished and rebuilt in more modern fashion, the food is hot and full of flavor. While the staff at this King Kong are very polite, they often get my drive thru orders wrong. My neighbors and friends have made the same statement to me about their to go orders from here. I was born in France, so I did not know English right away, but sure worked hard to learn it when I became a U.S. citizen. My experience has been that the folks at the window are generally from Eastern Europe or Russia, and the gentlemen cooking speak Spanish, so the nuances of the food orders get lost in translation. It is truly a unique and wonderful experience to see folks from all over the world working side by side– I love it! However… twice I have ordered no onions on my gyro, only to get home and have extra onions lol. Also– and I know this was an accident– this last time I was there one of the line cooks sneezed on my food right in front of me, and acted like nothing happened. BUT, I WILL continue to go to King Kong, because at least once a week my body tells me I need it– I really do like the food. On a side note… there is a King Kong location just off 1 – 80 and the interstate in Lincoln that is definitely worth 5 stars.

Delicious gyros and fries. I would have taken a picture if not for the fact it was dark outside and I ate it before I got home.

With the remodel and reopening I had positive thoughts trying them out again. To begin, a Greek salad with no protein added a whopping $ 8.99. This is rediculous for any fast food joint. The toppings were slim the dressing was the highlight. The baklava I swear was not baked. All dough no nuts or honey. Really the worst I have ever had. $ 15 on a bed on iceberg salad and raw philo dough, big fail. I’ll pass.

I ordered take out so by the time I ate the food was cold. Props for the Feta cheese that was used on the Greek Salad very good and fresh. The Gyros tasted like every other Gyros that I haved tried. I will visit again this time I will dine in.

Service was quick. Different lunch specials each day. Lunch area was a bit dirty, but they were working to get it cleaned up. I tried their gyro plate which comes with a salad and a rice dish. Nothing special about either one. Gyro was huge and fell apart as soon as I picked it up. Had to use a knife and fork to eat it. The gyro was good, Got a piece of baklava for dessert. Not good, pastry was stale. Lunch set me back almost $ 15.00. While the gyro was good, the rest of the meal really does not support the outlay of that much money.

2 and a half stars at best… Living here the last couple years, I’ve been curious about this joint… finally made an appearance today, and upon walking in, I was taken aback by the rather unpleasant smell that awaited me… Normally a place should smell appetizing, not like an unwashed hobo… but I soldiered on… The register jockey who took my order wasn’t the most friendly of people… Not Walmart level, but could certainly use a lesson or two in customer relations… I ordered the double Kong and a small drink…$ 13 is what I paid… I almost had a heart attack, and this was before eating… I sat down and proceeded to eat what I felt was a decent but otherwise unremarkable burger… certainly not worth the violation to my wallet… plus the general décor and lack of cleanliness was a turnoff… will I come back? Pehaps, especially if I lose a dare or a bet…

I’m pretty sure I’ve been going to King Kong since they opened sometime back in the 1990s. I have to say their menu has stayed true to itself over the years, as King Kong offers rich and heavy gyros, burgers, phillies and more. While I do love their burgers — made fresh to order in front of your eyes — I usually stick with something that at least seams a bit more healthy, usually a gyro and a Greek salad. The gyros are not flashy, just delicious. Warm pita, shaved slices of that mysterious gyro meat(well okay, it’s most likely a lamb, beef and spices blend), chopped tomatoes, raw onions with plenty of yogurt sauce. The salads are great, too. Oil and vinegar dressing, leafy green lettuce(probably romaine and ice burg), olives, peppers, tomato, onion, cucumber and feta cheese. I also have to mention their fries, which are thickly cut, fried to a golden crisp and topped with an herby spice blend I haven’t found anywhere else in town. They’re. Just. Great. King Kong can get pricey though, so expect to pay around $ 10-plus per person, especially if you order a combo or one of their ginormous double, triple or quadruple Kong burgers. I also wouldn’t mind seeing a couple more drink options, like at least some freshly brewed iced tea. Nestea from the fountain machine just doesn’t quite do it for me.
