Kwik Shop

One might ask why I frequent such a joint such as this Kwik Shop on Leavenworth. Many may consider this area of town «ghetto» or «scary.» I’ve lived in this area for two years and I’ve never had problems. That being said, this Kwik Shop seems to be a hub of activity for the criminal element in this area.
I once walked here with some friends on a last minute beer run. As we approached, we saw the lights on a police cruiser flashing. As we got closer, we could see that a man was in handcuffs yelling at the officer «I’m a magician! I’m *$#@!&$ magician, $^@&!» Yeah, this guy really thought he was quite special. Needless to say, the officer didn’t follow his magical thinking.
This isn’t the first time that I’ve seen someone being busted at the neighborhood Kwik Shop. While I haven’t been hassled by crack heads or people with cardboard signs and cups, this place isn’t the most savory of c-​stores. It’s kind of run down and not the cleanest of places. In all, I’d say that it’s fine for short visits in the daylight, or for late night beer runs with buddies. Other than that, I’d skip it!
