I wanted to go four stars on this place so badly, just because they were open at 2:30 a.m. on a Sunday morning(when I was driving back home from having a few beers and my mind was stuck on «LET’S GETSOMEDOUGHNUTS!». But, just because you’re open at 2:30 a.m., doesn’t mean the quality of the doughnuts should be different than at any other time… right? So I doubt the doughnuts I tasted would be any different at any other time. The apple fritter, though being the cheapest I’ve found in the area(under $ 1.00), wasn’t very tasty. I had about two little chunks of apple in it, lacked that crisp/crunchy texture, was mostly doughy, and didn’t have that slight apple/cinnamon spice to it. I also got a cake sprinkled doughnut which was pretty tasty, however, and I can’t believe I’m going to say this… there was WAYTOOMANY sprinkles on it. I mean, there was so many sprinkles on it that all I could taste was that sweet and waxy taste of sprinkles. It wasn’t until I bit the doughnut(purposely) from the bottom that I tasted how delicious(nicely doughy and soft, yet crispy fried outside) the doughnut was! Lastly, I went with a chocolate covered, cream filled doughnut. After eating half of the doughnut, I finally found the cream. I’ve had doughnuts where the cream comes out on the first bite(and you don’t need to take a HUGE bite to accomplish this). In addition, the cream tasted more like plain vanilla pudding than anything. Overall, this doughnut was good, not great. Service seemed forced. I mean, I get it, it was two freakin’ thirty in the morning, and I surely wouldn’t be thrilled to be working those hours… but, then again, why open up if you don’t wanna serve the public? I’ll give this place another shot when it’s daytime. Hopefully, I’ll have a better experience.

I was impressed to find such an abundant selection of donuts available at Donut Palace after 12pm on a Saturday. This is definitely your classic mom-and-pop neighborhood donut stop. No frills. Just donuts. I picked out about 3 or 4 to get me through the day. Definitely not the best donuts I’ve ever had — they were average. I did like the density of the caked donut with strawberry icing and sprinkles. It was enjoyable to eat. The chocolate and maple bars were a little dry, not as fresh as they looked. Also, this particular location(they have 2 locations, I believe) is situated in a seedy strip center with all sorts of scary types and hood rats loitering around. Definitely lock your car and keep a can of mace close to you!

Donut Palace is a staple of the northwest Ontario community. Not only do they just have the best donuts I’ve ever tasted in my life. They also have ice cream and delicious croissants. This donut shop has comfortable inside and outside seating. There are always friendly faces to be found there. For the early morning crowd there are often beautiful classic cars on display. This definitely s a place that you shouldn’t pass up.

I am a lover of donuts. Especially late at night. I did not think there would ever be a fantastic 24 hour donut place that was well stocked with great fresh donuts all the time but donut palace is this place and it is soooo close to king taco that if I don’t gain 800 pounds in the next three weeks it will be really surprising. A dozen for $ 7 and the selection was AMAZING and the donuts were heavenly. Rock on donut palace, rock on.
