Los Potros

Oh Los Potros. I spent many a college lunch at this place, and loved it all through college. It’s cheap, it’s fast, and it’s close by. All of those things are still true (and still very valuable!), but I suppose my tastes may have shifted a bit since college. While in college, I might have given 4 stars. Being post college and visiting here while in town visiting family… I guess it’s lost it’s luster. The lunches at Los Potros as a means of escape from campus life just doesn’t quite hold true when I know have a lot more options, and honestly more money to spend. The food was pretty much what I expected from Los Potros… cheese, beans, meat.
It’s not you Los Potros, it’s me.
Like I said… still cheap (never a bad thing), still really fast, still really close by.

Had some enchiladas and did not like them one bit. Felt like they werent made correctly and they had cheese sauce inside instead of normal shredded cheese. Good service friendly people. Might be doubtful of coming here again though.

Not the worst Mexican I have had but close. Brown lettuce and steak as tough as shoe leather. Several choice within 5 minutes so I will not be back

Service was horrible, we ask for chips 4 times never got them and we will NEVER return the food is mediocre. You can drive to Amigos in Ooltewah and get better food sooner.

My family and I live in Ooltewah and always pick Los Potros when we want good Mexican food. There are a couple of other Mexican restaurants in Ooltewah but this one is the best. The servers are nice and always keep our chips, salsa, and drinks full. The food is very good and we normally get seated fairly quickly. The portions are great with wonderful prices. We will keep returning to this location. Thank you for great food, prices, and service!

Meh. It was alright. Nothing special. I’ve definitely had better. Prices were reasonable. The waiter we had was super nice and friendly.

Excellent service. We had a party of eight tonight and the server did a fantastic job keeping our drinks full, salsa replenished and chips baskets full.
The menu is large. The food was pretty good and the portions were nice.
I really liked their salsa.
Unfortunately there is no beer or any other alcohol available but the server told us that that could be changing in a few months.

This is a regular spot for us. I won’t claim it to be best Mexican food I’ve ever had but it’s solid. The service is always very fast. The prices are always reasonable. The atmosphere is great. Service is wonderful. Bathrooms clean. And they have a special of the day which makes this a great lunch spot.
We eat here often and thankful to have a place like this so close.

Normally descent but as I am waiting for my order right now that my wife called in 10min ago. They didn’t even start it or even have it written down. Have good food just service has a tendency to slip quite often.

Clean, friendly staff, cheap prices, quick service but mediocre food.
I had a combo with 2 enchiladas (1 beef, 1 chicken), mexican rice and refried beans. If I go back in the future I would get chicken only; the beef is really cheap ground beef and not flavorful at all. In general the meal was pretty bland but filling.

I am a regular here. Everyone here knows me and just tonight they asked where my
Daughter was, who usually comes with me. I’m here at least once a week. The food is excellent no matter what I order.

I give them overall good marks. I eat there frequently. The food is good, not fantastic. However, I get good and quick service each time I go there. Overall good experience.

Thanks to Unilocal we found this place while avoiding a local highway chain restaurant. It was clean, staff was nice and the food fresh. The dishes were a little bland but the food was well made.

OK, I have to disagree with the last reviewer. I am a regular at this place as its right down the street from where I live. The food is always good and full of flavor. The service is mostly great. There are a few exceptions to the service but Ive never really had a problem. For the money you cant beat the quality of the food. Ive had many different things and have liked everything. The only thing I can say to the last reviewer is maybe they had a really off day because me experiences have been nothing like theirs. This place in my opinion is a solid 4 stars but Im rating it a 5 just to get them some points they deserve.

Order the Cancun Salad. Covered with grilled shrimp, mushrooms and fresh green peppers it is delicious, healthy and a great bargain. All of the food and service we have had here is very good. They slip a couple of times, but overall excellent. Wish they had a hotter salsa, little bland.

Our family and in-​laws comprising a party of six had dinner here for our son’s birthday as he wanted nachos. As he only had cheese on chips it was hard to fail on that dish. The rest of us however were horrified at the nasty concoctions we were served. The beans were burnt and the cheap meats were attempting to hide amidst over-​seasoning (especially heavy on the anise of all things). The remaining ingredients such as tortillas were tasteless and limp. I’ve had much better at Taco Bell. You might as well get a frozen burrito from the bottom of the freezer at a dirty old gas station and reheat it in their wimpy microwave instead of eating here. The service and cleanliness was equally disappointing and we all vowed never to darken their doors again.
