The business name has changed to Sweet Malisa’s but everything else is the same. It’s a bakery store that has mini-​macaroons, dessert bars, cupcakes, and cookies on display but their focus is on catering. It’s not something they outright advertise, so you would have to know that already when you order in.
The funnest thing about their deserts are their bite-​sized portions. Their pecan bar, chocolate and vanilla macaroons, and mini lemon cupcakes were average. They’re not anything better than what I could get from a grocery store.

To start, when I visit a bakery it’s not to order a cake but to satisfy my sweet tooth. I have a particular soft spot for any type of brownie or baked bar. With that being said, on my visit to Venables, I had a pecan bar and a strawberry cream pie (whoopie pie). Both were excellent and I will definitely visit them again if I am in the area and crave a treat. For those of you who are counting calories, the portion sizes are small and just right.

If you are looking for the best place in Opelika to get some great desserts from then look no further! I have been coming to this place for a little while and this lovely small bakery in the historic district of Opelika has some of the yummiest desserts I’ve ever had! Their Strawberry Cupcakes and Banana Pudding are ABSOLUTELY phenomenal! Everything else I have had there has been great also! Very lovely and sweet staff and very cute and very professional bakery they have there and they receive my highest recommendation!
