When I first heard about this place on Unilocal,I wanted to try it. It sounded interesting«Adobo & Tacos»? Something that sounded different and not just any other Filipino/Mexican place. Sad to say, my BF and I Finally had the time to find the place on a Saturday afternoon with not much food choices to choose from. I was having one of those Filipino food cravings and I was sadden to see anything good. Nanay was very nice though, she kept insisting to get breakfast and kept saying«breakfast all day» she cooks longanisa and tocino when you order it, but BF and I decided not to try anything. The place is very small and something I didn’t picture. =/

Today I had a craving for longaniza and rice for lunch. Remembering that Adobo & Tacos serves Filipino-style breakfasts all day, I made a run to the«Filipino Rectangle». It’s amazing in recent years that we are finally getting more Filipino restaurants in Orange County. In the City of Orange, on the corner of W. Chapman Avenue & S. Feldner Road, you can access four Filipino fast food/micro-markets within one block of each other. I call this… «The Filipino Rectangle». You have Adobe & Tacos on the Northeast corner, Pinoy Fiesta on the Northwest corner and D’nu Eggroll & Lutong Pinoy both on the Southwest corner. No longer are we forced to drive to Cerritos or West Covina for Filipino fare… but I digress. This is my second time at Adobo & Tacos and I have good meals each time. Service is always friendly. My first time(a few months ago) I had the one item lunch combo with Sarciadong Isda(fried fish with tomatoes, onion and scrambled eggs). It was a little salty but very satisfying. Today, I ordered the Longsilog breakfast(longanisa sausage, eggs, tomato and rice) for my lunch. Their all-day breakfast deal is the best meal deal in the OC in terms of bang for your buck! For $ 3.85, you get 3 loganisa sausages, two over-easy fried eggs, two scoops of rice and coffee or a canned soft-drink. ALL that for a little over $ 4 including tax. I challenge any one to find a deal like that at any Filipino restaurant… or any restaurant. Even when D’Nu Eggroll offerred bargain breakfast combos, it was more that $ 4… and you were limited to free bad coffee. Adobo & Tacos may not be fancy but it felt you were visiting a relative’s kitchen and they were gonna make something just for you while you watched the Filipino Channel on TV. They actually cooked the eggs after I placed my order and probably heated the longanisa. But they cooked the longanisa perfectly by carmelizing two sides of each sausage so you get that crunchy but juicy combination of texture and flavor when you bite into them. The eggs were were perfectly over-easy and the yolks exploded perfectly over the hot rice as I mixed the two. I don’t know who ever historically thought about adding fresh tomatoes to Filipino breakfasts but they just add that cool tangy flavor to combos like this. I didn’t give Adobo & Tacos 5 stars because they watered down the banana ketchup so much & I ended up with too much on my plate. Luckily, the damage was contained in an area next to the tomatoes and did not adversly impact my meal. They offer other breakfast options of bangus and tocino so you have choices. C’mon… for 4 Bucks! The regular lunch menu looked good but I had to get my longanisa fix. I think the one item combo is $ 4 without a drink… gotta love that. I haven’t really been interested in their Mexican food menu because I would rather go to Albatros or Tacos Ensenada in Laguna Hills or El Campeon in SJC for good Mexican food. But I noticed that Adobo & Tacos offers Longanisa Nachos… Hmmm.

The adobo tacos are pretty good, and cheap(compared to the gourmet trucks). The only thing I have a problem with is the selection of the filipinoo food at lunch. Whenever I go there, they are not serving the dishes I like(pancit, beef steak, lechon). Across the street, they have those dishes constantly. If you like tacos, this is the place to go though.

Pretty good i must say. i had one pork and one chicken adobo taco. It was pretty delicious. I would have preferred a flour tortilla but the corn was alright. The lime and hot sauce made it perfect! It was $ 1 for small, ad $ 1.65 for a large taco. I didn’t think it was that large at first, but i was actually full after my second taco. Definitely worth a try if you haven’t had it before!

Just tried the adobo taco here, nothing else. Big taco! Had all the typical flavors of an authentic taco — raw onions, cilantro, those small tortilla wraps, wedge of lime, spicy sauce, atop of home made chicken adobo. adobo was too sweet for my liking, I think a more savory adobo would fare better.

All I can say after leaving Adobo & Tacos is mmmm Masarap!!! Hahha indeed it was delish! My Friend and I couldn’t wait to get out of class and try this place out for the first time. Initially I wanted to have the Longsilog but their longanisa shipment hasn’t come yet according to nanay, so she suggested the tapsilog since all the other Filipino breakfast were not available hahha. Everything was cooked and prepared in front of you, so it’s straight off the pan. It took me back to my childhood a bit because I felt like I was at home watching tv, while my lolo was making me lunch haha At last our food was ready we took some suka doused it all over our fried eggs, rice, tapa beef, and tomatoes! And in the words of my friend, Abe, that’s fire!!! Haha(fire = good; da bomb; delish) Coming back soon, to try the other menu items!!! Mmmmmasarap!!!

Top Chef’s seem to pull off the fusion of two different styles of cuisine effortlessly, but that doesn’t mean it’s easy — some places fall short! In this case the idea is much more interesting than the execution. The only thing this place is good for is if some in your party want Filipino food, and some don’t, but would be ok with having Mexican. The food is similar in quality to other Filipino fast food places. There’s one around the corner from my house that’s as good or better. I went with my mom and her Filipina care giver,(Ms. N) who has a lot of credibility on this subject, she felt that everything was just ok, nothing really good or bad, and nothing to go out of your way for. The chicken adobo(on its own) was my most liked meat entrée(over the pork adobo, the sausage, and the entrée that Ms. N let me try of hers). I didn’t care for the chicken adobo taco. We tried some of the“non fusion” Mexican items also and concluded that it was the same level of quality — and maybe a little below average of most places. Especially when you consider all of the fine mexican/taco places in the area — Taco Adobe is right down the street! A couple small tables, not a sit down destination, fast food style. Girl who took our order was really nice, and accommodated all substitutions. Prices were fine, when I heard the total, it was a bit less that I would have anticipated. Overall– nice idea, their fusion didn’t work for me and better food of each type is easily found on it’s own. Not worth a return trip.

$ 4 all-day breakfast and lechon kawali tacos FTW!!! I took my buddy Melv V. here a few months back as a thank you for playing for my wedding choir. The service was extremely polite and accomodating from the lady(think she’s one of the owners) at the counter. They only had chicken adobo tacos available and they were good, but she also recommended the lechon kawali(pan-fried roasted pork) and boy, I’m glad we took her up on that rec! Best. Idea. Ever. The crunchiness of the pork just works so well with the taco fixin’s and tortilla, I don’t know why nobody else thought this up before? The all-day breakfast is just awesome too. I had tocilog, which is tocino(sweet fried pork), overeasy eggs, and garlic fried rice. Very well done, great portions, very tasty and not too greasy. Will definitely be coming back if I’m in the area!

I’ve passed by this place several times and I’ve always been curious because of the name, «adobo and taco’s.» Adobo? Taco’s? Well, I love both those things so one day my boyfriend and I decided to try it out. It’s a tiny little place. Very«homey» and the lady and man there just might remind you of your Tita Baby or your Tito Boy. I came here to try the adobo taco’s but they ran out. Bummer. The other 2 dudes who came in solely for that purpose were bummed out too. Anyway, this place is a filipino + mexican fusion place. the first one I’ve ever heard of. Moving right along. I got regular asada taco’s. They were still delicious! Dudley(my bf) got Filipino food. he said he’s had better. I’ll come back to try the adobo taco’s :)

I came here for lunch yesterday with my coworker, fellow Unilocaler Nadya Z. She was craving filipino food. Being that we work at UCIMC we were tired of cafeteria food. It was a nice gloomy day, so rice and sinigang sounded perfect! I Unilocaled the closest filipino restaurant and i found Adobo and Taco’s less than a mile away! SCORE! Driving to downtown orange, I’ve always seen this place and have been intrigued with what their menu was like. I was very excited to go. We walk in and its«turo turo» style(pick pick). We got exactly what we were craving Sinigang, chicken adobo, and rice. A two item combo with healthy portion to share for $ 4.99!!! It may have not tasted like my dad’s adobo or his sinigang, but it definitely satisfied our craving and well worth the $ 4.99!!! I’m excited to go back and see what else is on the menu!

I ate there for lunch today and the thing I love about this place is their creativity. The place is warm and friendly, and we could try any dish we wanted, even if it’s not on the menu. We walked in expecting to order adobo tacos but the woman suggested that we try longanisa tacos, which we did. We also ordered tocino nachos. Unfortunately, she told us that they ran out of tocino but she could make us longanisa nachos … … my jaw dropped and I could not have been more excited. it came out and it looked gorgeous. it was a simple dish of cheese, sour cream, beans, tomatoes and longanisa, but OHMYGOODNESS. the longanisa was sweet and went very well with the rest of the ingredients. I love this place because it feels like i’m eating in someone’s house, as we watch ‘the filipino channel’ while waiting for our food. i recommend this place who want to try filipino or mexican food or any fusion of the two.

Good place for large portions of hearty Filipino food at cheap prices. $ 5.99 for two items, rice, and a can of soda. If you are looking for food that may have come from your grandma’s kitchen, this might do the trick. If you are on a diet this is a place you should avoid. Chicken Adobo: I got a drumstick, thigh, and leg meat. The sauce was nice and thick and full of flavor. The chicken itself, however, was a little dry(probably because it had been sitting out for a while). Longanisa: Bright red and super sweet and undeniably fatty Filipino pork sausage. It wasn’t brown and carmelized on the outside like you get sometimes, and seemed more boiled/steamed, but it still tasted great. Rice: Two big scoops of long grain, white rice. I prefer shorter grain rice like Calrose, but this did the trick(soaking up the adobo sauce). Atmosphere: Sorta funky smell(probably from the fish and the fact that the food looks like it’s been sitting out for a while), friendly staff, Filipino karaōke on the TV, dry goods for sale, indoor and outdoor seating.

I have walked by this place hundreds of times wanting to try it. I finally decided to take a walk and give it a try. When i walked in i was greeted by a Filipino man shouting«Tacos!». I explained to the man behind the counter that I was not interested in tacos and asked what he recommended. He said«All our food is pretty good if you like Filipino food». The man behind the counter made me a plate of bistek, chicken adobo and a few scoops of rice. All the food was good and the meal was reasonably priced around 6 $ for a meal and a soda. I’ll be back whether it is to try there tacos or to have more Filipino food.

Beef steak with rice, adobo taco, longanisa and tocino… enough meats for one day. The service at this place was great. The owners were friendly. They even let me use their restroom inside instead of the dirty restroom outside. My favorite here is the adobo taco. It’s different and it’s pretty good. Order watermelon drink from the can to eat with your tacos. Still hungry? Order mango and ube ice cream. Mango ice cream was good but ube was better. I wanted to lick the spoon. I usually don’t really like ube ice cream. Not too creamy and not to sweet. 3.5 stars. Adobo & Tacos is yummylicious!

I’d like a chicken adobo taco with a sarsi soda please. WTF, what did I just order? Just kidding… I didn’t try any of the mexican food. But I did try the pork adobo. They made it with pork spareribs which is an interesting twist, a «little» healthier than using pork belly and just as tasty. This restaurant shares the strip mall with a check cashing place, a uniform store and is just around the corner from CHOC hospital!

I love Filipino food, and I love Mexican food. They are both unique in flavor because foods like these take time to prepare. Enter Adobo & Tacos. It’s a primal example of a place where two strong flavors fight, or unite. The thing that you have to understand is Mexican food has a strong distinct flavor and so does Filipino food. My first reaction walking in was Filipino food! Horchata! Mexican Food! Halo Halo! Man was I confused. I became further confused when I realized it was ADOBOAND TACOs not Adobo Tacos cause that would be an awesome concoction right? Confusion Ensued. I boldly ordered the«Adobo Taco» that seemed to be no where on the menu and they said sure they could do it. I then ordered a Horchata. Its so awesome to have all this in one place by the way. Two Adobo Tacos and a little rice and beans. Humm I had a choice between Tapatio and Siracha Sauce — you know the red sauce with the green top. Eff it I took both and sat down in the nice little outside seating. One bite into the Amazing Adobo Taco and my mind is sent into über confusion mode, WTF am I eating? The flavors collide and throw me off. Its different I mean way different, good maybe, bad maybe, but confused to $#!7 yes! I mean I grew up all my life eating Filipino food and Mexican food, and not until my experimental stages after scraping my money together and buying my own place and realizing I needed to learn how to make up food or starve did I really ever have the two together. Well this restaurant does it. I like the fact I can order the two together. Its Odd but again flavorful and the people. Oh they are soo nice to you, it feels like home. Stop by if your in the area, I drove 30 miles to just eat here. I would probably go to two restaurants if I really wanted to eat both down here. Why don’t they open up and Adobo and Tacos on the Carson Wilmington border… Ha Just sayin’.

Don’t give up on me Adobo and Tacos. A couple of days ago we went back and had: 1 fish taco: slighty battered and fried(cod) a bit greasy. but still yummy. 1 shrimp taco: The shrimp itself was a little bland. it was boiled or steamed… should be grilled. I would stick to chicken. Lechon Kawala(deep fried pork bell) and rice: The lechon was a little harder than usual(old) but they re fried a little for us… with some Mang Thomas All Purpose sauce. My fiancé loved it… I prefer Pak Siew Na Lechon(stewed in Mang Thomas sauce with some vinegar and sugar and bay leaf and pepper.) HALOHALO(translate to «mix mix»): My Adobo and Tacos savior! We were totally full but we had to try Halo Halo. So we ordered ONE each and took it home for dessert. I got home and poured it into a big bowl(bc there’s no way I can eat the stuff out of the plastic container w/o making a mess.) Ube ice cream, homemade leche flan, red bean, evaporated milk, palm fruit(kanoang), macapono(young coconut), some sort of jelly and all sorts of miscellaneous… and shaved ice. The ice was a little more coarse than the usual Halo Halo ice… but it was still yummy… so yummy I forgot to take a picture. They also have turron(banana wrapped in egg roll(rice) wrapper, deep fried and glazed with sugar) but they were reserved for someone… darn it! The lady was making a big stock pot of Filipino spaghetti but I had already ordered my food. I was tempted to order some for dinner, but decided to save it for next visit. When we were dining… a few people came to pick up trays after trays worth of food(Filipino party probably)…and a couple of people ordered pick up… nice to see business is getting better here. So now, maybe turo turo won’t be so overheated and dried out. Please don’t let me down Adobo and Tacos… I still love your Chicken tacos and Halo Halo.
