I normally get Fortune Cookies when I’m craving Chinese food. decided to try something different. Bad choice! The teriyaki chicken was fatty and not cooked well. The orange chicken was bland and some pieces were hard to chew. The fried rice is just white rice with some veggies thrown in. The best part is the chow mein and it’s still just okay. The man who helped me didn’t understand a word I was saying and laughed when I had to keep asking what he said. Not okay. Only upsides are they give you big portions and everything is cheap…

This place is awesome. I can never understand a word the guy is saying, but he’s really chill and always gives me huuuuge portions. The prices here cannot be beat anywhere; if you ever screw up in life and only have like $ 5 to your name and are starving to death and need to get the largest amount of calories possible before you die of malnutrition, then you should choose this place because it really is such an insanely huge amount of food for such little money. Also, the quality really isn’t that bad. It’s not PF Chang’s, but I’ve had many worse meals than this at Panda Express. So yeah, if you’re in Orange and are broke and hungry, even if you weren’t thinking Chinese food, you should consider this place. Super good value.

This place is not even a one star. Went in 15 min after they opened and there was no food nothing I had to wait 15 min for the food to start coming out. I had the teriyaki chicken, the chicken was fatty and no teriyaki sauce! When I asked for some they pored on some watery substance that tasted like watered down soy sauce. The fried rice was just rice with soy sauce nothing else, chow mien was bland and flavorless . Do not wast your time or money

No problems here. I went around 6pm in a hurry to my 7pm meeting and didn’t feel like burgers. In and out real quick and the guy was really generous. I need to come back again and also leave a bigger tip.

This food was horrible. Tasted like they used old oil, seems like they go to the Mcdonalds in the same shopping center and take their used oil. The texture of the food was spongy and was dripping in what tasted like diesel. DONOTEATHERE!

The service was good! Polite, greeted you and said goodbye. However, the food was a whole other story! The orange chicken was alright, I’ve had better. The terryaki chicken and white rice were God awful! Tasted old and like poor quality! What can you expect for around 5 bucks! Nice people but God awful food! Gave 1 extra star for the service but otherwise it would have been a 1 star.

I was excited to see the very generous portions being crammed into the to go box but was later disappointed by the texture and taste. I got the BBQ Pork, Orange Chicken, and Peppered Chicken. Of the three, the one that looked like it was sitting there long enough for the sauce to show«waves standing still» was the better selection. The orange chicken had a really funky taste to it but after eating the peppered chicken, and whatever chemicals where on it changed my taste buds, the orange chicken tasted better. However, I am drinking a clear soda for the overall experience and the funky charsiu(BBQ pork). If you don’t mind funk, this place rocks!

Food was ok portions were good fried rice was more like just rice orange chicken was really good but over all the food was on the bland side and the egg rolls were mostly just the wrap there was nothing inside of them had it not been for the egg rolls I would’ve probably given at least four stars

I read several reviews before coming in including Iris p’s, so when I got the«HEY! How YOU!?» I almost LOL’d(too funny !) I ordered 2 item ½ rice ½ noodle, sweetn sour pork and orange chicken since several reviews mentioned it AND on top of all that the dreaded egggggg roll! For about $ 5! Great price. I knew going in this was a fast food Chinese place but it was worse than most. The place is clean, well lit, etc good location, friendly how u’s n all but the food. Mr. Howu is cuttin corners. Something is up with the rice! low grade maybe over cooked? I can do better in my rice cooker at home. Noodles were ok. S&S pork was nasty NaasssT. Over cooked with crazy red candy coated, oh! Like the stuff they put on candy apples but on… Pork. The orange chicken was ok but nothing great. A plug for the service though. He was out of OC when I came in but went in back to get some for me right when it was finished. He could have just said it not ready u want extra egg roll?! Nooo! Egg roll! Wow even with the Unilocalers warning me I was still not prepared for the chick-o-stick consistency. Come on bro you can make a better egg roll. (Sigh) I support mom n pops but I’d rather have gone to Panda Express :(

Yea this place sucked. Plain and simple. The noodles tasted funky and all the meat looked old. And no cream cheese wantons?!:(I don’t recommend if your looking for some good Chinese food. You get what you pay for, the prices may be cheap but so is the food.

Its just, well, ok. Plenty of food in the Combo meals to make two meals out of. For $ 5.17, pretty darn good. Though choices are limited and service can be slow at times. But the staff are always courteous.

I decided to come here because of the good reviews on Unilocal.Unfortunately this place was not good for me. I order fried rice, noodles and Orange chicken. The fried rice had a burn taste and the orange chicken had a funky taste to it. The only good thing is the restaurant was kept clean. Will not return here again… Glad I gave it a shot.

Atrocious! This was not good *shivers* I will not come back here. I had been warned by those I know not to try it, but I sometimes just must try it out for myself. However this was one of the 5 worst trips to a Chinese joint I have ever had. Pro Tip: Dont come here… I had a bowl with freshly made chow mein and sweet n sour pork. The chow mein was fresh, but didnt taste right. The sweet n sour pork had been under the heat lamp a little bit too long as well I believe. Nothing about the food was flavorful in a good way. The service was super slow, late lunch crowd with only one person to provide service, half the items in the steam tray were empty and it sounded like a cook in back who was lollygagging it prepping additional grub to be sold. So my best advice, find a different spot to grub, this place is not worth it…

The chow mein here is good. Not too dry, not too greasy. I usually get the orange chicken. It’s not the best I’ve ever had, but I’ve had far worse. I really like their Black Pepper Chicken. The prices here are nice…1 item for $ 3.79, 2 items for $ 4.79, and 3 items for $ 5.79. And all plates come with fried rice and chow mein. You can get steamed rice if you prefer. The only negative thing I have to say about this place is… what the hell is up with the egg rolls here? There’s no filling and they’re always overcooked. Other than that, I recommend this place.

When diggin out what’s good in your neighborhood, it is always wise to talk to a long time local. I was glad I listened to my native friend as she was on the money with this one. I will never eat at Carl’s Jr. ever ever again. Why?!? Why spend 7 bucks on a combo meal that you will down in one sitting when you can come here for about 5 bucks and get a HUGE plate of pick-and-choose Chinese food? I’ve only been here once, but I am already making plans to come back. Okay, for all you posh Chinese cuisine restaurant goers, yes; you may be able to find higher quality(I am from a Chinese family and have been to many Chinese restaurants and I had zero complaints with the quality of my meal) Chinese at a restaurant along with more variety, BUT try getting your fill at such a low price. My entire meal at Hong Kong Express cost about the same amount as a serving of Chow mein anywhere else… and the portions… THEPORTIONS! These guys don’t skimp. I was able to gleefully get my fill and save the last half for later. The sheer weight of the thing makes you think, «damn, that certainly feels like a lot of food for five bucks.» It surely is. Moreover, I haven’t researched them or anything, but they seem like a small mom and pop operation. Given the choice… I always would choose to support my local community rather than some chain for fat-cat corporation. Honestly, how the hell is Panda Express still in business with these guys around? Hong Kong Express’ chow mein doesn’t taste like a tire, believe that?!? G’ahead and give this place a try. I am confident you’ll get hooked like me.

I had a craving for some Chinese food. I found this place looking on Unilocal, and it’s 2 mins from my work! Wednesday around 4:30pm When I walked in, it looks pretty divey, its small, and it smells amazing(PERFECT!) these are always good signs of an awesome Chinese food joint. The little old lady who helped me was absolutely adorable. She piled the food high and gave the free egg roll like their sign says. I got a 1 item. Orange Chicken: 5 stars, It’s not heavily breaded if breaded at all like most places which is perfect, this is the best orange chicken I’ve ever had. Drenched in sauce and the meat was moist. It was super hot so freshly made. Fried Rice: The fried rice was a little mushy, not many vegetables in it but still good. Chow Mein: Not greasy, and again not many vegetables in it which I actually like. Sometimes I’ll sit there picking out the cabbage and end up with a huge pile of cabbage and 5 noodles so I loved this! Egg Roll: I hate to say it but I think my egg roll I got was under the lamp a little too long. Not good at all. But I’ll give them another chance next time. Everything there looked really good, the broccoli beef looked super juicy and that kung pao looked amazing, I will definitely be back to try many more things! My total was $ 4.02, VERY good prices here.

This is definitely the place to go if you are looking for good Chinese Food at a decent price. You can get a full lunch meal for less than 5 bucks. Love the orange chicken and kung pao chicken. We have been going to this place for years and have not been disappointed. The Chinese guy server is friendly and funny. This place is right next to PepBoys so it’s pretty easy to find. If you are looking for good Chinese fast food and don’t want to break the bank, you should check it out. I personally think this place is much better than Panda Express. Orange Chicken — 5 stars Kung Pao Chicken — 5 stars Teriyaki Chicken — 5 stars Vegetables — 4 stars — I am not much a vegetables kind of guy Portion size — 5 stars — you won’t go home hungry

I love Chinese Fast Food. Yup… looking for excitement and something new, I decided to stray from the yummy fast food place on Glassell. I came here instead. The food did not look good. But, looks can be deceiving. right? Orange Chicken– The sauce was ok. The quality of the chicken was not. Kung Pao Chicken– 2 stars. Fried rice– Kinda dry and not much taste. Noodle-2 stars Egg roll– uh um. weird. Overall the Food is 2 Stars. Huge portions and a very nice and sweet couple add .5 stars. You will get an abundance of food for very little money here.
