What a pleasant surprise! I don’t Unilocal much but if I am that please with my experience, I feel like I owe it to the business. Service was super friendly. They forgot my salad but offered it after I was done eating and I didn’t hold it against them because they were so nice. As for food, we tried the salmon combo which comes with salad, CA rolls, rice and a drink for like $ 7. Everyone got free miso soup to start. Tried the Poki bowl, sashimi bowl, lava roll, and grand canyon roll. The baked rolls were amazing! About $ 8-$ 9 per roll but they were very large and filling. The raw fish bowls were decent size and average tasting. I was really in the mood for raw fish but I have definitely had better. I think some of my fish was on the hard side and I felt they skimped on the salmon which is my favorite! Overall I think its worth a visit and now I know where to go if I am craving really good tasting sushi but I don’t feel like paying $ 26 at Todai and trying to stuff myself to get my moneys worth: T

If it weren’t for the reviews of my fellow Unilocalers, I would never have stopped at Ichi Teriyaki. It just doesn’t look like your prototypical sushi joint. Family owned & operated, we ventured in. We were first struck by the extensive menu and the very low prices. There were three of us, and we loaded up on five rolls which proved too much for us to put away. Each were fresh and delicious. After lunch we went town to road to try and meet Jarrod and Brandi at the Now & Then Thrift Store(of Storage Wars fame). We didn’t get to meet the stars, but we did enjoy some outstanding sushi!

Don’t expect too much because you read the Unilocal reviews. That’s where I went wrong. I read all the awesome reviews and went here expecting to find awesome. I did not. What I got was salty miso soup(granted it was free so I didn’t feel bad not finishing), mediocre fish and forgettable rolls. Venue: fast food, to-go, panda express ish Price: nigiri is about $ 2.75−3.75 for an order of 2(we tipped 20% at time of order and received 3 pieces); sashimi is $ 6 for an order of 5 pieces(we received 9 pieces but the slices were approx 3.5 cm long and thin); Alaskan roll $ 8, Hawaiian roll $ 8. Ichi special $ 10. Taste: mediocre, fast food, forgettable It did not satisfy my sushi craving and I will likely forget I ever came. But the workers were friendly and the food came out very quickly.

Over all a 5 star, very nice and humble people. The place is not fancy, but decent and clean. Their food is not pricy and yes I know it might not be like wow tops sushi bar, but it’s tasty and good for the price(so don’t be expecting much) although I been to some places where you pay a lot, way much! And what you are paying is for the looks and the nice place BUT the food has no flavored period. Recommend this place to get your sushi fix! =)

Ichi Teriyaki Roll is my absolute favorite sushi place in Orange. It is affordable and the food is ALWAYS fresh and yummy! I have never been disapponited by anything that I’ve ordered. My favorite thing to get is the Rainbow Roll; it has truly become an addiction. As for the customer service… Excellent! Everyone is so lovely and positive. Even though this is a small joint, the atmosphere is always pleasant and welcoming. I love Ichi Teriyaki Roll! They definitely deserve these five stars.

I love Ichi because it’s close to campus, affordable, YUMMY, and the workers are super nice and happy all the time! Don’t be fooled by its hole in the wall appearance, I was actually pleasantly surprised by how great the food is and how nice the restaurant looks on the inside. It’s a fast-casual restaurant, as in you order at the cash register, so don’t come here expecting anything too formal. The inside is very nicely decorated though and it looks very classy. They have some great lunch & dinner specials that include your choice of chicken/beef/salmon teriyaki, rice, sushi, salad & miso soup, and a drink — all for around $ 6.95! They give you enough food for two meals, honestly. Whenever I come, I also usually get the Crunch Roll, which is $ 6.95 for 12 pieces(not bad!) I haven’t ventured into anything else, but they have a lot of choices of sushi including the rainbow roll, pizza roll, salmon skin roll, etc. The food is all very good. It may not be super authentic Japanese food, but it’s delicious and filling — what more can you ask for? I’m definitely a fan and would recommend it if you’re in the area and craving Japanese food!

Great, resonably priced Japanese food. Contrary to a couple reviews I’ve seen on here, I think they have some of the best made rolls I’ve ever had for the price. Being half Japanese, I’m very picky about these things as well. My favorite item there has to be their udon. I must have tried udon at 50 different places during my lifetime and theirs is close to the best(and cheap $ 5 – 6). If you are an udon enthusiast like me, you will love their beef udon. The broth is amazing(which is the most important thing in a soup), the meat is plentiful, and the seasonings and condiments were spot on. Friendly, quick service everytime as well. I think the people who left negative reviews must have had too high of hopes? If you want elite quality sushi you need to expect to be paying 10x the amount as you would at Ichi.

With a name like Teriyaki Roll, I didn’t have high hopes for this place having great quality fish. I did, however, think they’d be able to whip up a reasonable roll. On the contrary, their fish is fine; their roll-making ability not so much. See, they have a picture menu — it’s up above the ordering counter. And I used it to make my decisions. I don’t like surimi, so I chose ones without surimi in their pictures: the hamachi handroll and the salmon skin roll. While the salmon skin roll was pictured with salmon skin, avocado, carrots, and burdock(as salmon skin rolls tend to go), the one I got just had the skin, avocado, and surimi. Also, it randomly had tempura crunchies on the outside. In other words, it looked absolutely nothing like the picture on the menu. Surprise surimi was bad, but it got worse when I realized that both the crunchies and the salmon skin tasted like stale oil — so it was like a stale oil wrapped roll stuffed with stale oil(and avocado). As for the hamachi roll, the hamachi itself was fine. It’s just that they hardly used any. It was all rice and bean sprouts. And the whole roll was wrapped in a layer of lettuce just inside the seaweed, which did not work flavor-wise. It gave the whole thing an unneeded air of Caesar salad. Annnnd their(free) miso soup came from a package, I’m sure of it. No plain tofu, no fried tofu, no veggies. Just murky brown clumpy broth. The whole meal for $ 15, too. It makes me slightly rage-y to think about. Afterwards, I sought refuge from the oil in a jamaica agua fresca from Tacos Jalisco next door. When I went in, a man holding two bunches of flowers said, «Come on in, we have good food!» It smelled like he was right. I wished so hard I had just eaten there instead.

LOVE this place! One of my best memories from going to Chapman. I’m not a big fan of rolls… but I’ve ordered a couple for others before and taken a bite here and there. They give you a lot(compared to other places) and it’s pretty decent. Again I’m biased since I don’t like rolls anyways… so I’m not gonna comment too much on it. Anyway, my ABSOLUTE fave at this place is their sashimi salad! $ 7 and they give you a decent amount of food. I think it comes with tuna and yellowtail… but I always add in salmon(for an extra $ 1). Love the house dressing too! I usually have enough to eat for 2 meals. I’m a huge carb fan but went on a no-carb pre-wedding diet… and this dish totally saved me from cheating! Highly recommend it to any future brides out there :)

Ichi is the best! It’s a VERY tiny, dive-y little sushi restaurant in between Taco Bell and Baskin Robbins. The employees are great and super-friendly. I’ve been there about 10 times and always had a great experience. If I lived closer I’d be here constantly. The chicken combo comes with tons of food(similar to a bento box but without the tempura) and a drink. Their menu has lots of different rolls, teriyaki chicken and beef, udon, tempura. all the regular stuff you’d find at a spot like this. The prices at Ichi are on the cheap side, too. I love getting the sushi combo, it comes with a roll of your choice and 6 other pieces of sushi, chef’s choice. Usually it’s 2 shrimp, 2 tuna, and 2 salmon all with a little dab of wasabl underneath the fish. It’s the perfect amount of food. And they give you miso soup for free if you eat in. PS: They take credit cards, but not American Express.

Best sushi joint in orange! Not to mention how extremely friendly the family that runs the place is. Its great quality sushi at a cheap price! Try the Volcano or Lava Roll! My favorites, and ask for extra«mayo». Mmmmmm!!! Highly recommended!

AOK I came here when the little one spotted the Baskin Robbins in the same parking lot. Ice cream for dinner is ideal for me, but I still have to make sure she eats dinner first. The rolls here are AOK. The prices are decent. I am not sure I would call this a sushi place. It is, however, and AOK place to get a roll or two.

I never would have found this place if it wasn’t for Unilocal. It’s really well hidden in the corner next to a glaringly bright & neon lit Taco Bell. I parked behind the building, the shopping center is a little shabby on the outside, and Ichi Teriyaki looks a little run down, but rest assured, it’s not at all run down on the inside. I entered Ichi Teriyaki and was immediately greeted by a couple of really, genuinely friendly ladies. I grabbed a menu to study it, there were quite a few options on there, including teriyaki bowls for those who don’t like sushi. That is a great option in case you want to bring people along who aren’t into sushi. Their selection for sushi and rolls was very good, it took me a while to decide. I finally opted to go for one of their sushi combos: 6pcs of sushi + Spicy Tuna Roll for 8.49. Now, I actually opted to trade out the spicy tuna roll for another one(the samurai roll) and I paid a couple of dollars extra for that, but it was worth it :) The inside of Ichi was nice and clean, there were a few tables scattered about the humble place and there was quite a crowd there so obviously this is some kind of a hidden sushi-treasure… I’m happy I found it ;-) I sat down, I was served a bowl of miso soup and the sushi arrived after awhile. The 6 pcs of sushi was«chef’s choice»(you can replace them for other sushis for an additional $ 1-$ 3), so the ones I had on my plate were 2 shrimp, 2 salmon and I BELIEVE the last 2 might have been tuna. Either way, they were extremely tasty, the fish was fresh, no fishy taste at all and the fish was nice and tender, no chewy bits here! The Samurai roll was really good! I loved it! It consisted of eel, crab and avocado on the inside, and on the outside was spicy tuna. The roll had a little kick to it, it was very refreshing. Despite my humble experiences in sushi(although this is quickly improving) I want to give this place 5 stars. The prices were affordable, the sushi rolls were nice and fresh, their sushi selection was very good and the friendliness of the staff was really great, it’s the kind of treatment that makes you want to come back, not only for the food, but for the good atmosphere. So far it’s my favorite sushi joint«hole in the wall» type of place. I’m SURE there are better ones around with finer sushis etc, but 5 stars I think Ichi deserves regardless. Can’t wait to introduce this joint to my other sushi-loving friends!

Yayy! I love Ichi! This place is right down the street from Chapman University and it’s delicious! Well, I’m not too adventurous when it comes to sushi — so I like to stick with the basic crunchy roll. Love love loove crunchy rolls! Ichi gives you an awesome amount of food for the amount you pay. It’s pretty inexpensive for what you get which is what I love! Whenever I come here, the workers are all so friendly. Although it’s a tini restaurant, don’t underestimate it! Give it a chance and you won’t be disappointed. Not to mention, you get miso soup with your meal too :) I love their miso soup. It gets a little salty toward the bottom, but it goes well with your meal.

The rice is too wet. The crab feels really mushy. Basically its not very good. The only good things about this place is the service and the cheap price. I feel like sushi could have definitely tasted more rich. The food was too bland. I had red dragon and baked scallop. i have had baked scalloped at a few places nearby, and they are all better than the one here. It was not too crowd when i was there, so i got my food quickly. I honestly do not recommend this place for any sushi fan. If you are not picky and literally just looking for some fish wrapped in rice, then definitely go here. if you are a sushi fan, then I suggest that you drive a little further to places that are much better.

My friend and I love this place and go here almost every week for lunch. We usually get the cucumber roll and salmon roll, but lately I’m really digging the spicy tuna roll. The people here are very friendly and the prices are great. Make sure to get some spicy mayo with your rolls!

The bomb-diggity. For a mere $ 10 dollars, I got a whole spicy tuna roll and an assortment of sushi nigiri. It came with a bowl of miso soup that was pretty delicious. So the place is kind of a whole in the wall. There’s a giant stack of newspapers that probably needed tossed out a month ago. However, the people are super sweet. It doesn’t look dirty in a sense of «yuck, I wonder how the kitchen looks.» Just that kind of look that comes along with age. The spicy tuna roll was delicious and not too spicy at all. I got an assortment of nigiri that included salmon and some other crap I can’t remember what it was, only that it was fresh and delicious. My friend thoroughly enjoyed her crunch roll and bowl of edamame. Another friend ordered some pretty tasty gyoza as well as shrimp tempura that I can’t eat but I was informed that it was cooked perfectly. I’ll come back if I’m the area for sure.

I love this place. I tried it out based on the great Unilocal reviews because it was a little later at night and I needed a place besides Tokyo Café to go get some take out sushi rolls! I’ve been in twice now; I like the crunch roll and the philly roll, which is all I’ve tried so far, but maybe soon I’ll be in the mood to see how good their bento box is and try some other things. The portions are BIG, and you get free miso soup. When we had three people but ordered 5 rolls for takeout, they still gave us 5 soups! They have the standard ginger and wasabi of course, but I was impressed that they also tucked lemons into our boxes for freshness. The best part is the customer service. They prepare your order totally fresh so it takes a good amount of time but they are so friendly, saying hello and goodbye and being generally chatty. That first time we tried it we arrived just as they closed, and we were a little sad, but they still took us as one last takeout order! I’m definitely going back. With the average(read: darn cheap) price for above average portions and super friendly folks behind the counter, this will be a regular spot.

I have been craving sushi for some time now so on my way out Saturday night I deciding I was going to stop for a sushi roll as a quick bite. I Unilocaled the nearest location to where I needed to go and found Ichi Teriyaki Roll. It was kind of hard to find on Tustin because my navi told me to take Walnut, but its the small strip mall on the corner of Tustin and Walnut. Ichi looks like a small shack from the outside and its a tight fit on the inside but its a good place to dine. Looks like its family owned and operated which I am all about. The girl that took my order is a super cute and enthusiastic girl. Kind of reminds me of an animé character the way she smiles and giggles after every sentence she says. I ordered an Alaska Roll to go(california roll topped with Salmon). Under $ 9 after tax and came with a small cup of soup. I ate the roll straight after squeezing some lemon on it and thought it was quite fresh and tasty. I was more than full off inhaling that one roll. I was won over to this small hole in the wall and will be back for more.
