Great place to have sushi!!! it is fresh, good Wasabi. they have happy hour prices !!! the service is good! some unique items on the menu to make them different, good portions sizes. service is quick and friendly. my only suggestion would be to use actual fresh wasabi! that is your way to a 5 star!

Brought my sister here to dinner for my birthday(haha) and I was pleasantly surprised. We did the stuffed pepper appetizer, the 3 roll special, and I also did an uni shot and ordered uni sushi. The sushi wasn’t the most fresh I have ever had… I definitely will not be ordering uni from there again. However, the rolls were really good for more«American» style rolls. And the 3 roll special was a great deal. I will definitely be back for a casual sushi night and recommend checking this place out!

How did this place get 4.5 stars I have no idea other than you people have not tasted real good sushi before. Service is a definite 5 star but I didn’t come here for service. In comparison to other local sushi restaurants the food here is below par. The spicy tuna is bland, the baked fish tastes«fishy», the beef teriyaki tastes as average as it is if I made it myself. We paid 76 $ for family of 5& on the way home had to get our sushi craving fulfilled so picked up a Sushi-Rito at Honda Sushi nearby, the best damn spicy tuna and misc huge sushi combo ever! We will never venture out again. And my husband says«save your money, if you like this quality of sushi rolls go to your local grocery store sushi section».

Came here for dinner with a friend and his son after our recent trail race last week. My buddy had made reservations in advance so we walked in and were immediately seated without any wait! It was nice, and considering that this is a fairly small but popular local establishment, being seated right away was definitely a blessing. The prices were reasonable as we went during happy hour. They have happy hour from 5−9pm Monday through Saturday. We ordered five rolls and two ice cold Sapporos and our bill was $ 66, including tax and tip. Wasn’t the best sushi I’ve ever had but it wasn’t the worst either. I rank this place somewhere just above the middle of the pack. Bonus: The entire staff was friendly and helpful; and you get a small portion of edamame while you wait. Negative: Parking is limited. We somehow lucked out and got the very last parking spot… and we went when neighboring establishments were already closed. I hate to see why it’s like during normal business hours.

I finally ate there for the 1st time on Friday. We agreed it wasn’t a 5 star but over the past 2 days I have been contemplating whether to give it 4 or 3 stars… like my rating matters that much haha. I essentially decided on 4 since it was good service and prices. I think I might have liked the food better if I had chosen other items. #13 halibut roll… underwhelming #57 roll special combo… average(shrimp tempura was the best of the 3 varieties #20 eel roll… surprisingly good… the best of what we had #49 spicy yellowtail was just ok *Sapporo hit the spot after the 10K that we had just finished As I think others have mentioned there is not a lot of parking, we snagged the last spot. The staff are very cheerful. The prices were reasonable with Happy Hour pricing. I love that we were able to make a reservation and there was no wait which is great since this is a small, popular place. Next time I will do better research and check what my fellow Unilocalers recommend here.

Sushi boom like dynamite!(In a good way!!!) Happy Hour from 2pm-9pm: 20% off sushi/sashimi and 15% off rolls. Salmon sashimi: super fresh, melts in your mouth and definitely fat chunks of yumminess. Orange hills roll: Cali roll topped with salmon, avocado and lemon. Sooooo good! This place is small, but really good. Service was efficient and friendly. We sat at the bar, the chef was really kind and kept making sure our drinks were full and made sure we liked everything. Definitely will be back.

Went here for lunch and was very unhappy. I got 2 orders of sushi, a roll and green tea. The green tea was barely warm… I ordered a spicy tuna roll with tempura flakes… I got a deep fried roll instead. I mentioned it to them but they made no attempt to rectify. I tried one bite and it was awful. The halibut was also hard and not good. The tuna was good. All in all, I paid $ 26 for lunch for 1 person and I was very unhappy. I won’t be back.

Sushi boom serves ok-value sushi, but it’s not great if you want to eat a ton of food. The restaurant is small and can become crowded on high-traffic nights. Of the sushi shops on Chapman Ave east of the 55, this is one of the better ones.

my husband and i love to come here. the food is basically on «happy hour» 24⁄7 so you really don’t need to look at the prices on the menu, because chances are they are on sale. our usual order here is a glass of wine, a big bottle of beer, 2 large sake, an appetizer, 3 rolls, and 2 orders of sushi. the bill is usually around $ 60 which in my opinion is really well priced for good sushi. my favorite thing on the menu is the jalapeño bomb on the appetizer menu. its a tempura fried jalapeño stuffed with spicy tuna and cream cheese. I’m so addicted. we always try different rolls, but i have never had anything bad. they are also very nice here, and the service is good even though they are usually very busy. overall, i highly recommend this place. its a great little date spot.

Good place to go for lunch. They have a lot of deals to choose from. We opted for the 3 roll lunch special. For the rolls we chose the rainbow roll, the orange hill roll and the baked salmon. The rainbow roll was standard(assorted fish on california roll), the orange hill roll was california roll with salmon, lemon and avocado and the baked salmon was california roll with baked salmon on the outside. Yes a lot of california rolls going on. The fish taste really fresh, the only thing I did not like was the amount of rice in each roll. There was way too much rice compared to the portion of fish we got, but hey it was a good deal. I believe the special was 3 rolls for $ 21.

Let me start my review with the food. It is between decent to good. For a hole in the wall place I would give them 3 stars. My problem is their corkage fee. So I went there with my gf because it is close to her house and it was a tuesday night, we needed aomething quick. We bring our own bottle of wine.(We do this often since we like some certain wines) Long story short, their corkage fee is $ 20. I’m from San Diego. I have only seen $ 20 corkage fee in couple of super high end restaurants and this place is a hole in the wall. It is pretty much like«Don’t bring your wine here and if you do, we ll make sure you won’t able to open it because of our corkage fee» We told them Nobu charges $ 20 for corkage fee and they were like«Ok, can we get you wine?» So here is your one star, you deserve it.

This place is reallyy good, and they sell their products at very reasonable prices! I went in multiple times in the past during lunch time, and I always got their combo with the poke bowl and udon, and honestly for that price($ 11⁄10) it’s worth every penny. I get so full off of it that I can barely even finish it(and I eat a lot). Service is really good too, and they’re really attentive to your needs. I find myself craving this place a lot actually, and I always want that dang lunch combo! Can’t beat it. I’ve also togo-ed rolls and other combos, and they’re all really good. I think this place is underrated, and deserves much more attention! It’s kinda small and hard to find, and parking definitely doesn’t help, but all in all, it’s a really good place to eat at! Stop by! You won’t regret it.

$ 7.45 for Crunch Roll? Yes please! The staff was very nice and helpful. Provided extra eel sauce right away, the food came out so quick and it was delicious! Oh and free edamame! Great food, great value. I’ll definitely be back again!

Food: We ordered a variety of sushi and it’s rolls. The overall taste of the sushi and its rolls are pretty good, some were pretty flavorful, like the mango sushi roll — nice touch of sweet and spicy. Food rating: 4.5÷5 Service: Service here is really good. Service rating: 4.5÷5 Price: We can on happy hour, so take 20% off majority of the items. Overall: I was very very pleased. Great food and service. Defintely would repeat.

I would actually give this place 5 stars based off the service. The waiters are so nice and polite here. I think I came in with high expectations because of the 4.5 Unilocal rating. My friend and I ordered 2 rolls and the chef’s sashimi plate(small) to share. I forgot the names of the rolls but one was a 8 price roll with yellowtail inside and out with a jalepeno slice on top. The second roll had tempura and spicy tuna inside and fried crawfish, crab, and avocado on the outside. The sashimi platter had salmon, tuna, and white fish(3 pieces each). The fish didn’t taste fresh… It didn’t taste bad, but it just wasn’t really fresh tasting. I hate to say this because everyone is so nice here. You can call and make reservations. I didn’t have any trouble snagging a table for 2 at 7:30p by calling in 3 hours ahead that day.

WIth all the hype, I had to try it for myself and with a name like Sushi Boom, how could I resist?! We ordered three rolls, yellowtail, spicy tuna and halibut. All were great, the fish quality was above average considering its just a small joint in Orange. Fish quality, freshness and cut is essential to excellent sushi, and I’m definitely impressed. We even ordered it to go rather than staying to dine in, I think that takes away from the experience, but I really couldn’t find anything wrong with the rolls. On top of that, while waiting the staff was very friendly and accommodating, Very cool and treats you well, I was very impressed and felt welcomed, I wouldn’t mind coming in again to dine in next time. It’s alittle difficult to spot, it has a black awning and you can still see the name of the old restaurant scratched out. I drove right passed it before I U-turned and found my way inside. Parking is tight in front of the store, but there’s more at the end of the alley.

Nothing grinds my gears more than a menu full of photos of sushi rolls all drowning in shitty sauces. Sushi Boom does go a little sauce heavy on some of the rolls, but they have enough options that are either completely sauce free or very light on the sauciness, that I was able to look past it and avoid em. The selection and quality is better than any average OC sushi restaurant, and I thought some of the rolls were delightfully creative. Also, any establishment that places so much attention to detail on their garnish is good in my book. My thinking is if they’re willing to put the extra bit of effort to make the stuff guests aren’t really supposed to eat look so pretty, then the edible stuff must be amazing. I mean, they cookie-cut their radish garnishes into little hearts and flowers, it’s adorable! This care and quality shines thru all of their food I’ve tried, as everything is presented beautifully with good flavors to match. The ceviche roll is my favorite, and while it tastes nothing like real life ceviche, it’s still a total winner. The roll is stuffed with fake crab and shrimp tempura, wrapped in sliced avocado, topped with a few chunks of lightly marinated tuna, and sprinkled with a light, sweet and tangy marinated mixture of chopped tomatoes, cilantro and minced red onion. The fish tasted fresh and remained raw, not cooked with citrus like latin american ceviches. The shrimp tempura and fake crab added a little more sweetness and slight crunch. The mango roll was slightly less stellar and it was because of the sauce. This one was stuffed with minced spicy and asparagus and wrapped with sweet mango and creamy avocado. Next time I’d order without the overly sweet yellow sauce, even though it wasn’t used excessively, the sweetness of the ripe mango was enough without extra liquid sugar poured on top. One thing to note, I think the rice is seasoned perfectly here. It’s not so in your face with the sweetness and vinegar, nice, light and delish. They applied a bunch of happy hour prices to our bill even though we ordered just after 9pm, so that was a nice little touch. Pleasantly surprised with this place!
