One of the better food trucks in the OC. I had the taco plate which comes with your choice of patron steak, shrimp, or fish and a side of rice, black beans, and chips for $ 9. The rice isn’t your typical Mexican rice, and is more of a quinoa mix. It actually tasted pretty good and is probably healthier, but I prefer the classic arroz rojo with my tacos. I’ll be back to try the chorizo ooey gooey nachos and the al pastor fries.

last night my friends and i went to the Chinese New Year, Tet, festival held at Mile Square Park. there were so many food trucks around so it was hard to decide which one to eat. we ran into my cousins who had the House Nachos. took one bite of that and life was never the same. we had an order of the House Nachos with chicken. Omggg haha. it was friggin amazing! i don’t know what kind of cheese they use here but these nachos were hands down the best i’ve had. after finishing the first round, we decided to go for another round. the guy and the girl were pretty awesome. they fully loaded our second order. House Nachos are a must try! thanks guys! =]

This is a company committing FRAUD. I live in Washington DC and somehow this truck charged me for a meal despite the fact I have never been to California in my life. I am the only person with the debit card that was charged as it is my personal bank account. This truck is run by criminals and crooks. They have committed FRAUD, and I hope this will warn others because clearly they don’t care how they get their money, even if they have to purchase debit/credit card information online to do so.

WOW double WOW expected good, but it was extraordinary! I ordered the Abuelitas Sopes. One with steak and the other with chorizo. One bite into the chorizo sope and I was in heaven. I thought sopes this good only came from my abuelita’s kitchen. I am so pleased. I hope this truck comes back every Wednesday. Yumminess to the max!!! Oh, the steak sope was equally delicious but I was so full with one, I had to reluctantly share that one and the guac and chips. The guac has an amazing lime taste. Everything Fabulous!!!

By far my favorite taco truck, I love their shrimp tacos. 3 nice size shrimp, always cooked perfect, not dry or overcooked. Just the right amount of spice so you can enjoy all the flavors and still feel your tongue. I look forward to them every time they come to my office

I’ve been so lazy to drive to places during lunch lately so I find myself coming to food trucks at the Irvine Towers and Von Karman Towers more often than I would like. On this particular day I wasn’t particularly impressed with the selection but opted for Kala. Its actually not bad. First off the gentleman the greeted me at the window was way nicer than any other food truck person I’ve ever met. I glanced at the menu and ordered the Patron tacos which would fill me up alone but I had to get a side of ooey gooey nachos because… So anyways, it took a bit longer than expected but ultimately the food came out. I took a bite of the patron tacos and they were pretty good. I don’t think they were worth 8plus bucks since it there was nothing special about it. The ooey gooey nachos, however, was the hit. This is why I order more than one item, just in case the other doesn’t live up to my expectation. The nachos had great flavors and the chips were not soggy at all. I’d get it again. The service was great. The food was good albeit a bit pricey but eh I need my nourishment. My only regret was not getting this pink drink they had. I’m sure it was some kind of berry drink that I just missed out on :( Overall this was one of the better recent trucks I’ve been to in the last month.

We used Kala to host a company event and they were great! We needed to feed 100 people, I gave only 24 hour notice, and they were there, on time, ready to go! Friendly staff and FANTASTIC food.

Trucks like these really put allot of brick and mortar joints to shame. Just plain delish take on Mexican classics w/so cal twist. Never would I have guessed that quinoa would work in a surf and turf burrito(el burrito) but it’s toasty, nutty nature compliments well its fellow burrito ingredients. Grab a bite if you see them. You can thank me later.

Did movie mondays at segerstrom last night and much to our delight Kala Truck was there. It’s a mexican food truck and we tried the«El burrito»(shrimp n steak, quinoa) and the steak sopes. OMG, the steak was perfectly marinated, and was so juicy and tender. I was quite surprised because alot of gormet mexican food places try to oversell the quality and/or idea of tequila infused meats. But this one was on point. Definitely worth the $ 8 – 9 spent on each item. The only thing I was NOT impressed by, was their guacamole and chips. I did NOT enjoy any ounce of it. Tasted acidic, bland, and the chips almost of a stale nature and spent a little over $ 3 for about 2 ounces of guacamole that i did not eat. But again, the steak is the shinning component to this establishment. The patron marinated steak is amazing. The end!

Hector and his team were amazing! It was pouring rain on the day of my event and the Kala Truck arrived on time ready to go. Served us delicious tacos, beans, rice, guacamole and tasty salsas. This truck is great for any occasion. Delicious, Clean and Professional.

This review is overdue… but alas, Kala Truck was our wedding caterer and our guests were so happy. With affordable prices and options for our guests we were really happy with our choice. The one thing that we should have thought out better was the timing, because it takes a tad longer to feed a party of 100+, the earlier the better, but that was my planning. Hector will work with you and your budget to make sure you and your guests are happy, it’s a win-win-win situation.

I was in the taco mood on Saturday of Star Wars Celebration and saw the Kala truck. Im not sure what«Kala» means and asked my girlfriend who is Mexican who also had no clue, so I am going to assume it is the last name of the owner, or something… Any who, I saw they had three kinds of tacos on the menu but did not offer a sampler plate of each, so I asked if I could get one of each and the cashier had to call the boss to find out how to do that… no issue, but I did find it odd that no one would ever ask for one of each considering the tacos come in plates of three anywho, issue resolved and I got the fish, shrimp, and patron tacos for $ 11.50 Before i get into each taco, I am not sure which taco was just ridiculously spicy, but it kind of ruined the rest of the meal. I took a bit of one and my mouth was on fire, like chemical burn fire not the good sizzle fire of a nice pepper in a salsa The patron taco meat was not very tender, and not much there at all… all i tasted was watery guacamole dolloped on the whole taco The cajun shrimp taco was okay, the shrimp had good flavor but only 3 little shrimp? and the poblano sauce was somewhere underneath the slaw, so not much flavor and the last taco, the baja fish taco, again was lacking flavor with the chipotle cream sauce somewhere in there sorry to say, Kala was a big disappointment

Do not get the Raspberry –Chipotle Chicken Sandwich. I literally just bit into mine and it was not thoroughly cooked. It immediately prompted me to write this review. I have experienced under-cooked food from food trucks before. They are in such a rush to get orders out they don’t cook it long enough. The last time this happened to me it was beef, which I can handle. Chicken though? NOTOK!!! I’d much rather have dry chicken than under-cooked chicken. If I didn’t believe in my iron stomach then I’d probably be praying to the porcelain god right now as a precaution. Although, I did gag when I saw the meat after I bit into it. Luckily, I ate my fries first, and they were good, but over salty. Some people like super salty seasonings so that’s why this is a 2 star and not the all out 1 star review. I should have got the Flautas. Now, from what I tasted in the sandwich of the one giant bite I took that I’m hoping doesn’t get me sick, the raspberry thing they are doing… NO! Just take this off your menu. I was expecting a sweet heat, instead it was bitter and rather dry, even with the spread. The raspberry chipotle is not good in the slightest bit. Of all the flavors, I really don’t know anyone who likes bitter. Everything else looked great from what I could see other people getting, and it sucks because this looked like one of the more promising of the trucks that our building has brought in. I thought I was going the safe route with a chicken sandwich. I can’t speak for any of the other food, because it looked REALLY good. My suggestion to the truck, just get rid of the sandwich. It doesn’t really fall in line with the rest of your menu anyway.

I had a chance to try the Kala Truck during one of their visits to the Anaheim Convention Center. They won a tasting by default, I had tried all the other trucks present, so I had no idea what I was headed in for. I ordered their Patron tacos, and they were really good, much better than I expected. Very complex flavors and layers. The meat was tender and flavorful, but not a taste I would enjoy on its own. The meat however was perfect with the other flavors happening in the taco. It had a kick I wasn’t anticipating, and I am a wuss with heat, but the guacamole offered a good soothing quality. I inhaled all 3

I absolutely love tacos. I could eat them everyday, especially if they are as good as Kala Trucks tequila lime steak tacos! My taste buds lit up with the perfect amount of flavor and the spice was right! WOW! I’m in Anaheim for a volleyball tournament and saw the food trucks outside! Hope they are there again today!!! Thank you Kalatruck! Probably the best tacos I’ve ever eaten(and I’ve eaten many a taco)!

This food truck came to my work today and by the reviews I didn’t want to pass this food truck up. I ordered the«Trio Tacos.» — a shrimp taco with delicious guacamole — a chicken taco with mango — a steak taco Let me warn you: They are Hispanic — they do not hold back on the spiciness! So, for those that aren’t use to spicy food please specify to them to hold back on the lava! It was delicious, but because it was a little spicier then what I’m use to I felt like I ate lava and fire tacos… Would I try this again: you bet, buuuut I will for sure have them hold off on the lava so that I may enjoy the other flavors of the tacos(the spiciness nulled my tongue to the other flavors).

I was contemplating between trying Kala Truck or getting my usual spicy pork burrito from Kogi Truck, but my tastebuds are so glad to have tried Kala Truck! (Not that Kogi Truck is bad, it’s good too lol) I ordered the Ooey Gooey Nachos. It was flavorful, filling, & a very generous size. Like traditional nachos, it has melted cheese, onions, guac, sour cream, & etc. What’s different though is that there’s chunks of juicy and tangy chorizo! And all of this was piled on top of a bed of tri-colored tortilla chips. I’m usually super unlucky whenever I try to try new foods, but luck was with me and it was $ 8.25 well spent! The side of the truck advertises«Authentic Mexican food,» and it doesn’t lie. Also, if you don’t feel like tortilla chips they have something similar called Sweet Pastor Fries, only there’s pulled pork on top of an abundance of fries instead and it’s just as equally delicious! So if you come across Kala Truck, but are in that grey-zone debating on whether or not to get Chipotle or some other everyday mock-Mexican fast food, step out of your usual routine and try Kala Truck! You won’t regret it. The workers are welcoming and will happily offer suggestions on what to get if you’re stuck and debating.
