First of, it took almost an hour to get our food. Tables that were there after us got their food first. Maybe the waiter forgot to put in our order? Second, I asked for over medium eggs, but it came out watery. Third, you should not call your homefries«homefries» because they are simply potato chips! Very disappointed. Not coming back!

Disappointed with my first dine in. I got the Border Benedict. The eggs are not poached correctly!!! The sauce was too sweet and the meat was not that great. I also got the potatoes and most of them were Burt :/they did give me another potato order but didn’t give me a discount for the inconvenience. Sadly I won’t be returning! –Kay Von Kakes

My wife and I love this place. Our favorite American breakfast place. It’s only open from 6am-3pm. Everything on the menu rocks, but our personal favorites are #1 the Stuffed French Toast and #2 the Tiki Toast. The marscipone. the bananas.the whipped cream, how they french the toast. It’s awesome. Let me just tell ya that. The juice is pretty good too! If you love the place and you’re a local, don’t forget to sign up for the rewards club.

My first time to The Broken Yolk, and i want to shout out Christin, she was on top of things. She went above and beyond with our table needs. What ever was requested she provided and didn’t forget, when our order came out nothing was missing, constantly checking on us but not interrupting us. She knew what she was doing and worked her way around us. Removed items that weren’t needed. For 18years I was a server and trainer myself and the job she did I would instill in who ever I would train to be a server. I love it when servers acknowledge kids at the table as if they were paying adults. I frequent with restaurants with servers like that. I am definitely going to bee back with another group of friends. I’ll be looking for you Christin. –Susana G.

Came really early so parking was a breeze. Waited about 5 min before being greeted and brought to our table with menus. Our server smiles often attempting to make conversation. We needed to warm up and order our hot drinks immediately. Coffee and hot chocolate were the basic standard. No review on those items. We came here on a recommendation. It felt it was a good decision because it was on the way to Universal Studios. Our hot drinks come out and are happy to feel something warm going down my throat. We order a main dish and sorta a big dessert. Eggs Benedict $ 12.49 This was your standard benny with canadian bacon. It was good. Eggs were done well. There was’t anything there to make it stand out from the rest. Tiki Toast $ 11.79 make it a combo +4.29 First off, 2 eggs and 2 bacons for $ 4.29 was, I felt, a bit much to pay. Because they were cooked well to my preference it made it easy to over look the additional cost. The thick, pie cut, hawaiian sweet bread always makes a wonderful french toast. The strawberries were okay but the blueberry were exquisite making a wonderful pairing between bread and fruit. I would come back for this but a smaller portion. I could not finish the 3rd slice but ate everything else including the fruit. Overall it’s not a place I can recommend but out of convenience if you so happen to be in the area. They do have many regulars. In fact, I think we were the only ones that were not. It is impressive to see a venue have many returning customers. I may return one day too.

My class was let out early since it was finals week and I was hungry so I searched Unilocal and found this place. I came around 11am and got seated right away The server, Christin or Christina, I believe was her name, was very helpful and kept my water and coffee full at all times which is always a plus for me. I hate having to wave down a server to get a refill. I liked that they have pretty big water cups here because I tend to drink a lot of water. I ordered the Mom omelette with spinach instead of the alfalfa. It was pretty good and a good size. The service was good and the food was good if Im ever in the area again Im definitely going to be stopping by again.

Went here with the fam on a Sunday morning. I’ve been at other Broken Yolk so I knew what to expect. But the food at this location however, was disappointing. We ordered a variety of items like hash browns, omelettes, pancakes, among others. All seem to be slightly undercooked and not very flavor; overall underwhelming. Won’t be returning to this spot…

Their food is great, typical breakfast café. The prices are a little high, but I think it is still worth it because the portions are huge. For omelets they let you split no charge which I definitely recommend. The place is packed on the weekends, but it is worth the wait.

I’m giving it 2 stars because the food was good… It was not crazy amazing but it got the job done. I created an omelette which I was able to choose if I wanted toast fruits or a muffin, I chose the blue Barry muffin but when my food was given to me they told me they ran out and if I wanted another option I could pick from one, I decided not to go with any other options I figure I didn’t need the extra carbs. Any how the waitress all seem to be nice and friendly but of of course the one that is serving me Sarah seems to not be in a good mood or maybe just not having a good day, her serve pretty much suck. It was my first time coming here and as we all know first impression is everything! Still gave her a tip for her services but don’t think I’ll be back anytime soon.

One never gets tired of breakfast. This might be partially fueled by Parks and Recreation, but it is nice to know there are others out there… This was a pleasant surprise. The parking lot was such a little lot we thought the restaurant was plum packed, but it turned out to only be about a 10 minute wait. Not only that, the service and food were great, everything came out in 20 minutes. Yes, 20 minutes. At a sit down restaurant. For breakfast. God I love this place. I had the California Benedict to counter the horrible one I had at Champagne not a few weeks ago. Well, this one was significantly better and properly cooked, and still hot. The home fries were chosen on recommendation by our server, but it seemed more like fried chips to me. Still delicious though, still delicious. Nothing really more to say about its awesomeness except I’ll be back. OHWAIT I CAN. They had a balloon man in there. The kind that made someone a freaken HULK. That was just really awesome.

Our server Christina was amazing. Greeted us with a smile and took our drink order right away. When it came time to order I had asked about a certain dish and she recommended that I get it(southwest boarder benedict)… it was AMAZING!!! FOODISDEFINITELYWORTHTHEDRIVE… THANKSCHRISTINA!

Awful experience and food! Right when we sat down the server immediately said«what do you want?» We ordered water and continued to look at the menu. She came back and we ordered the Monte Cristo and Chilaquiles. Both were awful!!! Monte Cristo had no favor and hashbrowns were burnt. Chilaquiles were so spicy they weren’t editable. Also, serving the chips on the side with cheese on top makes them nachos not Chilaquiles. We never saw our server again. Had to go to the cashier to pay. We will NEVER come back or recommend this place. I am a server and my husband is a chef and we would get better food and service at Denny’s then here!!! Go further down the street to Pancake House before coming here!!!

We haven’t gotten our food yet, but so far not too impressed. The place is extremely loud. I get that it’s busy, but the noise just seems to amplify. The server came to the table with a very cold demeanor and she just looked at us like«what do you want?» I ordered the messy caramel latte, which has little to no espresso/latte flavor and seems to be pure caramel… so if you like large amounts of caramel, it’s the drink for you. As our service started to improve, the amount of time passing without food did not. Finally, the food came. I was not impressed… it was just like a Denny’s, maybe even worse. I ordered the strawberry waffle, and the best part was the strawberries. Won’t be going back to this place!

Delish, some-what affordable, start to the day. I live right around the corner from The Broken Yolk Café and I always pass by, wondering what all the hype is about. I stopped in on a Tuesday morning and the staff was perky and excited, much before I had my first cup of coffee. The manager sat me right away and was a bright and welcoming. EGGSBENEDICT: I’m a eggs benedict aficionado and the Broken Yolk hit it on the spot. Not the #1 spot, but it definitely hit the spot for a quick weekday breakfast. Their homefried potatoes were great! The dish was good, their hollandaise sauce was a bit watered down and tasted like it came from a jar of pre-made sauce but overall my dish was good. VANILLALATTE: Very good for a breakfast chain! Usually its hard to find good espresso at restaurants focused on food but their Latte is great! I would definitely come back for the staff and to try another dish.

Came to breakfast with a party of 10. Friends and family members. We all love to come here but unfortunately this time our server was Sarah. Sarah had such a long miserable face the whole time. Unlike other servers that we’ve had here… She was not a smiley, kind server. It looked like she was having such a bad day … And it wasn’t just with our table… I noticed she just wouldn’t smile with other parties… This makes our breakfast experience just horrible. Since we come here for the most delicious meal ever!!! We all pretty much ordered the Border Benedict. We always order it and we are well aware of the portions… This time. The portions were very small on the carne asada… We made Sarah aware that there wasn’t too much meat. And we are well aware of the portions. Unless they are never consistent on the portions. She made such a yucky face and took all of them back., this unfortunate made us feel so uncomfortable. The food took way longer to come out… I mean … Was it too complicated to just add a few prices of carne asada… Overall… Not a good experience… This time… We are definitely making sure we never get Sarah as a server!

Didn’t have to wait for a table, and they were able to accommodate our request to sit outside! When it got a little bit warmer towards the end of our meal they offered to pull down the sun shade/turn on the fan which were nice options. Our service was really good, we had a waiter named Robert. He was friendly and helpful with suggestions/customizations of our orders. Food was AMAZING! I had the traditional eggs Benedict with fresh fruit. They offered 5 different fruits. The lemonade was excellent, and I’m really picky with lemonade! Overall pleased with brunch and will return to try another meal! :)

I came in today for the first time with my husband and 2 kids and had a really great experience. Here’s what I liked about the place: 1. Excellent Service — We were seated quickly, and our waitress came by and took our order right away. The place was pretty crowded too. Our food came out promptly, and our waitress(Chandra) was really attentive to us, always coming by to check on us and provide us with whatever we needed. 2. Kid Friendly — When they seated us, they provided us with a little disposable plastic placemat that sticks to the table(the kind that I usually bring along for my kids whenever we go out to eat). I thought it was such a nice thing for them to provide! My toddler even got crayons and something to color on. Later during my meal, my 5 month old got hungry and I asked my waitress for warm water to mix with powder formula, and she came back promptly with water that was the perfect temperature to feed my baby! Super helpful, especially when your baby is about to throw a fit because he’s so hungry! 3. Great Food and Big Portions — My husband and I ordered the California Eggs Benedict and the Tiki Toast. We were REALLY happy! The Benedict was really delicious, perfectly cooked, and filling. The Tiki toast was awesome and huge, topped with strawberries and blueberries. My toddler got a pancake shaped like Micky Mouse, scrambled eggs and sausage. We usually have to whip out the iPad to distract him into eating at restaurants, but my son liked the food so much we didn’t have to! The pancake, by the way, is huge! Two kids could probably share it. 4. Reasonably Priced — For about the same cost as IHOP, you get much better quality food and a cleaner atmosphere. My husband and I think we found out new favorite breakfast spot! We will definitely be coming back!

I come here frequently whenever I’m in town after a good hike in the area. Usually around 10AM there’s a small wait for parties on a Saturday. Average wait time for my experiences are 5 – 15 minutes. Service: Service is up to standard expectations. They do check on your food within 2 – 3 minutes and prebus your table. Drinks are delivered rather quickly and food has been coming in within 10 – 15 minutes which is great. There are people who come by once in a while to refill coffee, but you would have to request refills on drinks and water. During your duration of dining, they do drop by your check(I didn’t care if I felt rushed), in which two previous occasions I did have to ask for a refill since I was not asked though my coffee mug and water glasses were empty. Not much attentiveness but not ignored. I personally feel the service does not end until you leave the establishment. In this case, as soon as the bill was paid, you were left alone. My personal suggestion if this doesn’t change, then don’t pay your bill until you’re satisfied with the service. Prices: Expect to pay $ 10 – 15 for lunch and breakfast items. Food: John Wayne Omelette. I think it was not overwhelmingly filling, but very tasty. Meat chunks in chili are always a thumbs up in my book! It feels like 2 – 3 eggs filled with a generous portion of mushrooms and onions. I love chili on my eggs. Fruit wasn’t insanely fresh but it was a great balance to my entrée. The warm biscuit wasn’t as fresh and steamy as prior visit; but when they are it’s great with the butter. I would definitely order it again. Sweet Potato Pancake. Very straight-forward and simple. Tasted like a sweet potato with whip cream. I was curious to try it. It wasn’t bad, but nothing special about it. I wouldn’t order again for the price. Special props for providing flavored creamers for my coffee. You guys rock. Environment: Busy crowded environment. Not too noisy. A lot of families and bigger parties tend to frequent dine. I haven’t checked the restroom but I was informed it wasn’t that clean. Bottom Line: Tasty and fast on food delivery but I would only come if I was in the area. It’s not the kind of restaurant where I would drive from another city to dine with a group of friends. I expect a notch higher in service, upselling, and attentiveness. I would still come back after a good morning’s hike though. Still left satisfied!

This place is nothing to rave about. My friend and I did a hike in LA and were starving once we got back to town. We decided to hit this spot up because it’s so close to home. We got here on a Saturday around 12:30. The wait was less than 5 minutes. The vibe of the restaurant is very diner like. It reminded me of an iHop or Denny’s. As soon as our waitress opened her mouth, I knew I wouldn’t like her. She was rude, unfriendly, and just didn’t have a good attitude. She tried to be nice but it was just fake. Also, I noticed her asking the other tables if everything was going okay and if they needed anything. She didn’t even ask us that once. Disappointing. The other waiters and waitresses seemed just as rude to be honest. No one working here smiled. It was sooo weird and annoying at the same time. I think the only girl I saw smile was the hostess who took us to our seats. The food was also a little disappointing. I got the California Breakfast burrito. It was just okay. There wasn’t much flavor to it. It comes with beans and rice and they were both flavorless and bland. My friend got the Border Check omelette. She wasn’t pleased either. I tried it and it was good but just extremely spicy snd my friend hates spicy food so I can see why she wasn’t pleased. I love spicy food, but this was on a whole other level, even for me. The food portions were huge so that’s nice and also the prices were reasonable. Both of our meals came out to be like 24 bucks together. Good price for a lot of food, I just wish the food was actually amazing. Parking is really easy as they have their own parking lot. The restaurant itself is clean but the bathroom was gross! Huge tip for the joint: clean your bathrooms!!! I won’t get into deets but it was not pleasant at all! All in all, I won’t be coming back here.

Living in Irvine, which has very few breakfast places of note, I was excited to hear when this S.D. staple first opened within reasonable driving distance. But not wanting to deal with the opening hype or wait I never went there then forgot about it. Until a few months ago. I’ve been there a couple of times now and they have a huge breakfast menu encompassing all flavors and types of morning food, from traditional eggs, potatoes, and bacon to assorted types of pancakes and french toast, to omelets and southern style biscuit n gravy platters. They also have big burgers served with biscuits, which makes it an interesting brunch /after breakfast spot if you are prone to order this kind of plate. I’ve had the breakfast biscuit & gravy and even though it’s not my typical pick it was worth trying and definitely tasty and filled me up nice. The coffee hit the spot and was refilled twice which was good enough for me. Another time, I went back and ordered the chorizo scramble with beans and tortillas which is an early bird special(#6) until 8am for $ 6.99. Overall it was good but I was expecting black beans. The refried beans were a little runny, and cold in the center. So I’d order something else next time. luckily there are 7 other choices for this reasonable price. Also had the homefried potatoes for an extra $ 2.50 which were tasty. Since I rate them 3.5 stars and that’s not an option on Unilocal,I’m leaving them a three star rating so as not to dissuade anyone. I’ll still go back and have the pancakes or French Toast(yum) when I get a chance, and rate them again. They also have fresh squeezed juices made every morning for $ 3 – 4 per glass, or carafe around $ 7 – 8 which seem delicious. And smoothies, milkshakes, the list goes on and on…
