Good sushi just a little slow. The décor is pretty and the music is okay. The sushi is what you come here for though lol.

I used to come here often 3 – 4 years ago because of the quality of food and reasonable prices. With the new restaurants sprouting in Old Town Orange, I kind of put this resto in the bottom of my resto list. Decided to come for lunch today but read Unilocal reviews before walking in. Seemed most of the reviews aren’t as glowing as in the years past and I secretly hoped they were wrong. Unfortunately, reviews were spot-on. We ordered boba milk tea in a mason jar, mix sashimi plate($ 15), Vegas roll($ 9), rainbow roll($ 10) and mix tempura appetizer($ 4 – 5?). We were horrified by the bad quality of the sashimi. It was not fresh, cut badly and tasted slimy. Salmon had a filmy texture. The tempura batter was very thick and tough(overcooked). Vegas roll and rainbow roll was blah. We made a comment to the lady server about the bad quality of the fish as she asked how the food tasted and how it was obvious we did not finish our food and there was half-eaten slices of sashimi on our plates. It literally left a bad taste in the mouth. She apologized profusely and assured us that she’ll let management know. She offered to comp the sashimi but we refused the kind offer as it really was not our intention to have $$ shaven off our bill. I am very disappointed at this experience that I definitely do not see myself coming back here nor will I recommend it to anybody. There are better restaurants a few steps from this.

Despite the menu changes and change in staff and management the last few years it’s still a great place to come eat. I love the chimichanga roll and the Tokyo fried rice is cheap and enough to share. The quality of fish in the sushi is good and servers always do their best. The location is convenient and I have taken many friends here who like it as well

Love this place so much! Best place in town to get quality sushi! They also offer so many other goodies not offered usually in typical Japanese restaurants! Also they have wonderful drinks to add to their menu! People there are super friendly and always happy to serve you!

This restaurant isn’t the best but I can see how it attract a lot of people by the foot traffic. The service here was pretty bad. At first when my friends and I walked in it took a good chunk of time for someone to seat us. After taking our order only two of the three of us got our bowls of ramen which left our third friend sitting their for twenty minutes without the food she had order. None of the waiters even had the nerve to check on us or at least give us a heads up if her food was coming. My first and last visit was not pleasant experience. However their food is decent for the price your paying and I will give the that

We’ve been going to Tokyo café for years. Environment is casual and kid-friendly. Easy walking distance to our favorite shops in downtown orange. Food is good and with beers and specialty drinks to choose from, it’s a great local sushi choice!!!

Fast service good food. Staff was tentative to its guests. My son wanted to try squid sushi but they were all out. I will be coming back here for sure.

My friend and I used to come to this place a lot and after we graduated from Chapman, it’s been a long time to visit this place again. We were so excited walked in there couple days ago, however we realized a lot of things changed, like the size of the dishes, the quality of the sushi, etc. I have to say that I was very disappointed. It used to be a very good restaurant. And the most ridiculous things is, the server wanted me to post a good review at Unilocal.I’m not giving out my words to lie to someone else instead of getting free stuff. So fake.

I had to adjust my review. I used to love this place, but the last 2 times I’ve been here the experience has been less than. The quality of the food is no longer superior. It’s better than fast food sushi, but I don’t need to run back here for more. I’m good to not eat here again probably. Orange Sushi is MUCH better, whereas before it was always a toss up. I think Tokyo Café may be under new ownership or new management? The lady who used to work there hasn’t been there, and it seems like the wait staff is all new(and inexperienced). Between the ok food and the shoddy service, I’ll be going to Orange Sushi from now on.

This place has really turned its service around in the year that I’ve been coming here. The newest owner is so hospitable and dedicated to making your service the best possible that he will do almost anything to make your experience extraordinary. Definitely check this place out for a great atmosphere.

Came here for an early dinner with my daughters. The kids loved the vegetable udon, which was a nice sized portion. I had the chicken teriyaki bento box which was also nicely portioned and tasted fine. The salad was particularly fresh and tasty. Very attentive server and quick service. Overall, glad I stopped in.

This place is a hole in a wall! I really love it here and this could be my favorite sushi spot to go to. The Happy Hour deals are great! So are the service and employees too! There are no problems experienced while eating here. Finally, I also love the whole decorations hanging around the restaurant. They’re stunning!

Love this place!!! The happy hour is excellent. The sushi is terrific. And the staff is extremely friendly. Awesome little Asian gem in the middle of the circle. Great stop before hitting up the bars there.

None of the food came out in any kind of order. Server tried his best. There were only 3 of us and the order was soup, a bento box, and few rolls and ramen bowl. The ramen bowl was inedible and returned to them. The chef forgot the easy California roll my daughter ordered and when the server brought it up to him(5ft away) there was clear fighting amongst staff and the server was young and powerless agains the unhappy sushi chef. Also my baked mussels order never came so I cancelled the forgotten portions of the order and we left. They still tried to bill me for the$ 9 inedible ramen and there were FRUITFLYS flying about in the dining room which tells you tons about what’s up in the back . I live locally and use to like this place but I’ve see it on the health dept list before and now this. I’d stay away for now.

I’ve gotta say that this was the worst dining experience I’ve ever had This has been our go to Sushi spot for years, sad to say but after our experience last night we won’t be back anytime soon and maybe ever. I walked in, stood in the front waiting area to be seated, awkwardly for at least 2 minutes. I was pointed in a general direction to a dirty table, I took a seat and the guy(I think he may have been the new owner) came over wiped the table and that was it. My bf was parking and came in, sat down-never once did anyone come a day ask for a drink order, let alone welcome us in. After about 15 minutes of getting our order ready, still no one had come by to offer drinks. My bf flagged the guy down and he finally came over to take our order. He took our drink order, and attempted to make up for the lack of acknowledgement by bringing us green tea. 1 of the 3 rolls that we ordered came out and no napkins, chopsticks or dishes to eat off! Once again, we sat there waiting to grab someone’s attention– took another couple minutes to get plates. A few minutes later our Las Vegas roll came out, this is my favorite roll– what a disappointment — it fell apart like never before. Cherry on the sundae our Rainbow roll hadn’t come out & we were about ready to go. The waiter comes by to pick up our plates, at this point I was over it and ready to go, but he must have noticed that I was not too happy & asked if everything was OK. My bf spoke up and said our roll was missing — here comes the owner & says that he took our roll to the wrong table. Now the rainbow roll is the bf’s fave– he couldn’t even eat it– he said it tasted mushy. The owner attempted service recovery by bringing by cheesecake — at this point it was too late for that. Overall, the quality of the food has taken a terrible decline and let’s not mention the service.
