Probably the most decent of the FFF chains. Burgers were hot and buns weren’t stale. Pretty good experience overall.

So currently I’m sitting in the parking lot waiting for my food and at least four cars after me has gotten their food.

I really like Carl’s for the occasional fast food meal. They have both burgers and tacos, chicken sandwiches, tenders and wraps. For the health conscious, they offer side salads, grilled chicken salads with all the veggies and turkey burgers. Such a varied menu you are going to be hard pressed to find anywhere else, fast food or otherwise. While I have indulged in the delight of a breakfast burrito in the past, I come to you this wondrous morning to tell, nay, proclaim to you the amazing experience that awaits you today, in the form of the recently introduced made from scratch biscuits. May I have an Amen brother? These biscuits are the bomb! Freshly baked, crispy and buttery on the outside, soft and moist on the inside — with your choice of meats to accompany the egg and cheese. I use to treasure MickyD’s biscuits but recently, some(not all) of the MickyD’s have given up baking them in house and are using a cheap and tawdry substitute of pre-made and pre-baked biscuits that pale in comparison. I was feeling lost until Burger King and now Carl’s is offering breakfast biscuit bliss for under $ 5 with a side and beverage. After having a terrific bacon biscuit sandwich I felt compelled to bring breakfast home to the wife. Staring disaster in the face, I also ordered the biscuit and gravy to go for me. I was concerned that I would get home to find a soggy biscuit under a horrible glob of something resembling, only from a distance, sausage gravy. I was happy to find a fresh biscuit on one side of the take out box and a small container of well made sausage gravy on the other. Splitting the biscuit in half and combining the two I was thrilled to see that they did a great job on this as well. Hot, fresh, tasty and not at all glob-like. Kudo’s for thinking it through. Like you would hope, Carl’s gets the basics done well — the place is spotless, the staff is friendly and efficient and my order is correct when I get it. Having a salsa bar to add a little something-something to zing up my catsup for dipping my tater tots in is one more bonus you just won’t find in many other locations. This continues to be really a compelling place for a low cost, quick breakfast, lunch and dinner. While I’m glad I have many options to choose from locally, I think if I could only go to one place for an extended period of time, this might be it.

I visited the Oregon City, OR location last night at 10:44 pm and ordered my meal. The food was ready by 10:55pm and I sat at the table and started my meal. The cashier came by the table a couple of minutes later and told me that the restaurant will be closing in under 5 minutes and that I would have to leave. I had already started my meal and tried to eat as quickly as I could. She returned a few minutes later and asked me to leave the restaurant because they are«now closed» I was only half finished with my meal and this was the most humiliating experience of my life. The food was also terrible(beef was all dried out) but I didn’t have the luxury of complaining because they were in a hurry to leave and the kitchen was closing. the way I was treated was disgusting. Is it company policy to throw out guests of the restaurant when they pay for a meal?

My favorite burger place is Carl Jr’s because they char-broil their burgers, instead of grill frying them, less greasy, better taste. My wife likes the Mexican(Tex-mex and canned?) food platters, usually she gets the enchailladas or a burrito, they come with mexican rice, tortilla chips, and refried beans(shredded cheese) and there is a small salsa bar by the drink fountain. I usually get a six-dollar burger, which after their introduction about 5 years ago, really cost about six bucks now, but the same burger in the diner –type of joints has inflated from six to about ten, so it’s still a good deal in comparison!
