This is our favorite family restaurant. The lemon rice soup is the best I’ve ever had. The waitresses are friendly and efficient. Looks nice since the remodel. The rice pudding is amazing!

We ordered the hot turkey and hot pork tenderloin and they were both great! The lemon rice and navy bean soup were also great! I will definitely be back!

Average food at steep prices. The server was rough around the edges and not very approachable. Would not come here again.

My family and I love Southfork. We’ve been coming here for 15 years, have gotten to know the staff, and the food is awesome. When my grandfather passed away in 2008, the owner and hostess came to the wake. EXTREMELY kind gesture, and I’ll never forget it. My husband and I come here regularly and are usually the younger of the clients there, which is awesome because it reminds me of when I used to go out to eat with my grandparents. Great family feel. The owners recognize us each time and are friendly, super accommodating, and an absolute pleasure to interact with. Breakfast foods are pretty awesome, they’re generous with their portions, selection, and always have something for everyone. I’ve never had anything that I didn’t enjoy here. Their chicken Caesar wrap is super yummy(get the sweet potato fries). OMG. Their cream of lemon rice soup is phenomenal. My husband always orders a bowl and their chicken noodle soup is homemade and DELISH. Try it out. You won’t be disappointed!

I went here with my partner yesterday and had a pretty terrible experience. Aside from the eggs and bacon, the country fried stake my partner ordered and the pancakes I ordered were revoltingly bad. Also the wait staff, despite us turning our coffee cups upside down took their sweet time getting to us.

So, my fiancée recently moved up to Illinois. I wanted to treat her to the place I get adequate hamburgers at. A place I thought excelled in breakfast. She had a hangover. I was perfectly fine. I ordered the Country Fried Steak, and she ordered the 2×2×2. Let me be completely honest with you now. This is not fiction! I just threw up the Country Fried Steak. It prompted me to write this article RIGHTNOW, on 6÷29÷2015 at 10:25AM. The country fried steak had the consistency of hamburger. Not a hamburger patty! Oh no. Think more along the lines of hamburger helper. The gravy was super watery, and there was nothing good about the meal I had, except the scrambled eggs & bacon. And you know what? The bacon tasted like the kind I microwave from Oscar-Meyer. That’s the truth of the matter. I like bacon microwaved when I’m lazy. And I guess if you want that from your trip out to a local restaurant, by all means, come to Southfork! It’s as good as what you can throw in a microwave. My fiancée’s dish consisted of 2 pieces of bacon, 2 scrambled eggs, and 2 pancakes. If I am hearing her correctly, and I must be because she is right next to me, she describes the pancakes as having the consistency of a thick wheat bread. Which you expect from a nice loaf of 15 Grain wheat bread. HOWEVER, pancakes are meant to be FLUFFY. I hope I am not being melodramatic when I describe the utmost depravity I felt when I realized we could get better food at Denny’s. Southfork! It’s worse than Denny’s. Now, let me discuss the wait staff. I saw other waitresses checking up on their tables, asking if they want coffee refills. I sat for 10 minutes waiting for my waitress to fill me back up. I tried making eye contact with her. I tried honest to God to communicate to her in a way that did not include me speaking very loudly in the dining room to get her attention. I will never do that in a restaurant. However, this waitress tested my patience. I decided to turn my coffee cup over, I tried in so many ways to get her attention for a refill of the 6 – 7 ounce cup they have for their coffee. I paid $ 2 for maybe 6 ounces of mediocre coffee. That’s not cool. To be honest, while writing this review, I am trying to remain composed and not cuss or go too far in my criticisms, but for the love of Christ, next time I come to Southfork: It’s Worse Than Denny’s!, I will go up to the coffee pot and fill my own goddamn cup. And maybe I’ll bring my own coffee cup too. Because honestly, nah, you know what? I’m done. Never coming here again. I’ll just go to Denny’s. NOTE: I selected the chandelier picture as being helpful because WHYTHEHELLDOESTHISCESSPOOLHAVE A GODDAMNCHANDELIERFROMTHEFREAKING80s? PLEASEDOSOMETHINGABOUTTHECHANDELIER. IT’S NOTCHARMING.

The food usually is adequate, but on this Sunday the meatloaf was inedible. The spices must have been over dumped and was undercooked. The mashed potatoes were lumpy and watery. The waitress was brusque and has an attitude. Now this is not normal as other times things were Ok. Prices have quite increased and there is now a two dollar split the meal charge. Remodeling is nice, but does not justify the change in quality, cost and service.

I have not been here for at least 6 months. They have updated the place a little. New paint, got rid of the glass wall dividers. Food is still a good quality. Its your typical we have everything family resturant

The restaurant was recently renovated. The menu is diverse and the food is usually good. Service is usually prompt and the staff is friendly. One of the managers makes an effort to learn the names of the customers. Chicken lemon soup is quite good.

Chicken lemon rice soup or whatever you call it… It’s outstanding! Wife and I have been here once and we thought it was just okay for the food. However, ordering the soup to go whenever you’re under the weather hits the spot.

Service here is just okay. Not even average. When you call to place a to-go order they act like its an inconvenience. Also nickel and dime you. I can get charging for a roll, but for lemons for water and saganaki? Really? If it wasn’t for their delicious soup I wouldn’t bother.

WOW! Clean. Finally! A restaurant that cleans their lighting above the tables! bright…good food & service. I complimented the manager, and he said they are also in the process of remodeling the bathrooms. Can’t wait to see that!

Sorry for the late review — I was in there about three weeks ago with my patient, thought we would give it a try, you know something new. Guess I thought wrong, service was awful, food was nothing to write home about. Skirt Steak was dry, small and no juice, mashed potatoes were horrible as well. Broasted chicken was no good, soup was the only thing good. If you are in the area, DONOTSTOP. Even the cashier did not ask about our visit, just slid card and sent us on our way.

This restaurant was a great find for a diner! The food was a step above your typical diner fare. I t was just better quality and better preparation. I just had a chopped steak but it was sot you ordinary run of the mill chopped steak. It was better is that it appeared that it was hand pressed from fesh ground beef. The lemon rice soup is amazing as most of the reviews below can attest. Our service was also very good. The only thing that stood out is that the interior of the restaurant looked very dated and worn. It did not take anything away from the enjoyment of my meal but it clearly stood out to me. However when you walk in please don’t judge a book by it’s cover because a good meal awaits you once you sit down.

If you only get one thing here you have to get the lemon rice soup, to die for! Their turkey dinner & julianne salad is also very good. I always get the same things so I cannot elaborate on the rest of the menu. I always get that soup, its so addicting! Thanks for having dinner rolls too, love the rolls with the soup!

Always nice to find a good Greek style family dinner. With this style of restaurant going the way of 8 track tapes it is nice to find one that is still running and serving good food. Needing to eat before a show at the Midwest Bank Amphitheater my sister and I decided to give south fork a try. The service here was very friendly and fast to take our order. The Saganacki here was ok but I have had much better at other places. I also had the potato skins though and those were quite good. Prices here were also reasonable. Over all pretty similar to other Greek Style places I have been to. I would go back if I was in the area but wouldn’t make the drive just to eat here.

Let’s face it, every town in Chicagoland has at least one of these Greek family diners, and nearly all of them are tasty. You don’t come to them expecting elaborate Foodie-loved creations, exotic combinations or glamour. What you get is simple, fresh-cooked food at good prices. You’ll always find them packed with senior citizens and for good reason. Good food at a good value. Listen to your grandparents, kids. They won’t steer you wrong. SouthFork is no different, and my Grandma adored this place. I always think of her and miss her when we come here. The food is always served hot, quick, the portions are enormous and no matter what you order it’s good. The servers are always pleasant and it seems like they know most of the customers by name. Yep, Grandma really knew her stuff, especially when it came to SouthFork.

Great family restaurant great service and great food will be back. Wife and I were looking for something new and came across this place which had a great family environment and great food. The service was great and was very patient with us. I will be back here soon and try some of their soup. I recommend it.
