I recently hosted a corporate event at Square Celt and had a fantastic experience. I ordered the food to be served in advance and they were able to perfectly pair a different beer to each food item I ordered. The food was fantastic! Braised rib sliders, fish tacos, poutine fries and a couple different types of flat bread. The service was fantastic, prices were reasonable and a great atmosphere. I will definitely host another event there in the future. Thank you to Melissa for all of the work you did coordinating everything, to Matt for making our guests feel at home and keeping their glasses full and Amy for getting everything started! You guys are great!!! Looking forward to the next one!

The drinks are weak. The sweet fire shrimp; delish! Crispy fish tacos isn’t good. Didn’t like the sauce on it. Short rib sliders were good. Mac and cheese as a side dish was weak for them to have 5 different kinds. Brisket grill cheese was good w the tomato bisque dipping sauce.

Overall a great experience. The food was great, the atmosphere was friendly and comfortable, the service was good, and just a great place to eat. The only thing bad part was that they were out of two dishes, but besides that it was great.

It’s Irish, but it’s not **Irish**. I mean, there are bangers and mash, fish and chips and shepherd’s pie on the menu, but you can also get a burger, flatbread pizza or mac and cheese. It’s big and sports-bar-y. We came here for a casual dinner on a Friday night, it wasn’t too busy around 5:30. We started with nachos because we eat nachos everywhere. The brisket was quite good(although a few fatty pieces in there) and the toppings were very tasty. More salsa, please. My husband had the Chirish burger, and I got the Adobo BBQ Chicken wrap. Not so Irish, either, but tasty. Service was solid, food was good, place is clean and has a good beer list. Likely to try to drag my in-laws here for a nice change from all the chains on LaGrange.

I stopped in just to check out the new place in town and now I’m a regular! Excellent food, terrific drink specials every day. Spent quite a bit of time this summer on their beautiful patio. Tons of televisions all over the place to watch sporting events. Live music too, great mixed crowd. The servers are the BEST, knowledgeable, efficient and friendly. They take reservations but the place is huge so there’s always a table. Love this place. My favorite menu items are the chicken nachos, candied bacon with homemade chips and the brisket on anything is fantastic!

My friend and I ate lunch here on a Monday and I think we were the only people there. While we were there about 5 more couples came in. The restaurant was very nicely decorated and the outside patio was nice as well. We would have eaten out there but the bee’s scared me away! The waitress was very nice and did a great job. I had the burger and my friend had the corned beef. Both sandwiches were really good. We were both very full when we left. For those sandwiches &2 Cokes it was $ 29. The only complaint was the wait was a little long to get the food, considering there were only a few couples that came in after we ordered.

Stopped in with a big group of friends for my guy’s birthday. Square Celt is still Irish/pub themed, similar to the Sam McGuire’s it was before, although now it is more of a bar that caters to a younger crowd. The inside is large with two sides to the bar, a lounge type area, a huge patio that is very very nice, and a good selection of craft beer, above average tasting pub food with an Irish touch, and some cocktails. It’s a little pricey for what it is. Cocktails are $ 7.75 which is ok I guess, but my Guinness was $ 5.75, which is quite high. They also don’t have a few products you can get at most bars, but I rather like how consolidated their drink menu is. They also let us use coupons on our bill even though it was almost all drinks, so that’s a big plus. It’s a nice place. Orland is in need of a Holestein’s-esque place and this could be it on the right night.

Great layout on a summer evening. Cocktails were smooth and priced right Gourmet touches to pub food Their donut dessert is extremely decadent and worth blowing your diet over given the guiness infused vanilla gelato they are served with. Great service

Came here with a group of girlfriends. We had a reservation and were seated promptly. However, our table was under two very large tvs – loud and distracting. The lighting was horrible, making it very difficult to even read the menu. I had to use the flashlight app on my phone. Our service was horrible. Our server disappeared for 10 – 15 mins at a time. We would have ordered more drinks – she really missed out. The servers don’t seem to have a uniform, so it was hard to pick her out and wave her down when we needed her. Food is hit or miss – some things were good, other things were not so good. I was hoping that with a name like Square Celt they would have more traditional English/Irish food and beer, but I was mistaken.

Came here for drinks one night. It wasn’t wall to wall. But my the service you would have thought so. The liquor was on the money, but the time that you had to wait in between servings was ridiculous. The ice was melted. Not sure on the food end, but I’m not in a hurry to come back here.

My family of five decided to try something new so we decided on Square Celt. The atmosphere was nice, it had a great pub feel but still plenty of family friendly seating. We were seated almost immediately which I thought was a little strange for 6pm Saturday night. A friendly server came by to say she would be right back and then around 10 minutes later someone else came to get our drink orders and brought them right away. Another 10 minutes or so later our server came back to take our food orders. We chose the Cheese Curds and Pub Nachos with the Brisket appetizers to start and asked for more time to choose our entrees. 10 or 15 minutes later our apps came. They were very very very tasty so we weren’t minding the waiting so much. We felt that if the apps were this good the rest of the food must be great right? Ummm not so much. About 5 minutes into the apps our server came back to take entrée orders. I got the Saturday special Lobster Mac n Cheese… my husband ordered the Fish & Chips… one kid ordered the«ChIrish» burger… one the Classic mac & cheese(though she was given the children’s portion without us specifying) and the little one got the kids burger. Oh AND I ordered my favorite, French Onion Soup(which I never got and wasn’t on the bill or ever mentioned again) Once our server took our dinner order she was gone, even though I had ordered another drink. We didn’t see her again for at least another 15 to 20 minutes. Our food was brought out at least 30 minutes after it was ordered and was mediocre at best. The burger had one… count IT one slice of bacon and their«Irish bacon rasher» was no better than a half slice of Canadian bacon. The burger itself was tasty and cooked well. We ordered mashed potatoes as a side since we assumed it had to be amazing being an Irish pub… I swear they were instant potatoes. Sad. The mac and cheese was dry. The fish and chips were good though. The server came back in full force once she realized we were done and it was time to turn the table over. We consistently tip our servers 20% however this server only got 15%. All around we were quite disappointed, will not recommend, and will not be going back.

We are back at Square Celt Ale House & Grill. This time my girls split the Hangar Steak. They both told me it’s the best streak they’ve had and my girls are picky. It’s nice to have an option that is better than grill cheese for my girls. The steak was so tender and the flavor really good. I had the French Onion Soup and mini cheese burger. All very good food. The Pinot Noir today wasn’t that great but it was the last time I was here so maybe I’m having an off night. All in all a great place with very nice waitresses

Nice new place in Orland Park that caters primarily to 20– and 30-somethings(although all will feel welcome)…and which places are few and far between out here in the suburbs. This place(which is one of about five franchise locations in the greater Chicagoland area) bought the former property run by Sam Maquire’s which before that was the Charley Horse, so it is nice to have this venue reopened. The Square Celt spent a good amount of money changing over the interior… and it shows. The formerly somewhat dark and drab interior is now more open and welcoming. This place remains a nice sports bar and families should feel very comfortable bringing in all the kids. There are TVs everywhere to keep you up-to-date on the sports action. When Spring comes the owners are going to redo the outside of the sports bar… freshening up the outdoor bar and game area. If they do as well as they did inside, it will be very nice. Now to the beer and food… The beer selection here is excellent. They generally have 30 different beers on tap at any one time, with additional offerings in bottle. With 30 selections, we chose the beer sampler — which is four 6 oz pours for $ 10…nice and accessible. I had the Lagunitas Pilsner, the Lagunitas Sumpin” Sumpin’(wheat), the Avery White Rascal(Belgian), and the Half Acre Daisy Cutter. My companion had the Revolution Eugene Porter, the Sumpin’ Sumpin’, the Blue Moon Gingerbread, and a Harp(his favorite anywhere). They were out of one selection on the Tuesday we visited, but we can’t mark them down for that because the kitchen is open until midnight… which is somewhat of a big deal in the suburbs where they roll up the sidewalks early. So for the beer…4+ stars. Now to the food. The food offerings need a bit of work. In our two visits here we had the Celt hamburger(which was just OK… nothing to write home about), the Shepherd’s Pie(very nice… lightly seasoned meat on the bottom covered with nice mashed potatoes… all-in-all could have used more seasoning in the meat but still very nice), a bone-in short-rib appetizer(nicely done although it always takes some doing getting the meat off), and the pub fries-poutine(not there yet, needs a lot of work… came out not hot enough, so the cheese curds were sort of coagulated on top and the fries should have been crispier so they could stand up to the gravy… gravy had a nice taste but all-in-all this simple dish was not served at the right temp… they are making a simple dish a hard thing). So in summary — three stars. The beer is very good and the selection is enjoyable. The kitchen staying open until midnight earns extra kudos. The food needs some work, but they have a nice start to what could be a four star operation. Service was perky and friendly — always a must. Give this place a chance, you’ll like it.

Went here on a girls night, the place is really pretty and big. Very nice and open. The service was ok nothing outstanding we asked a few questions about different menu items and the water was unsure. Got the nachos with chicken and really liked those, huge serving so it was great for the 6 of us to share. For dinner I got the brisket and it was actually pretty good. A little dry but otherwise good.

Tried this place a week after it opened. The food is fresh and excellent quality and the beer selection is quite impressive(30 on tap). Ask about the daily food specials! Love the atmosphere, too! There are two large copper-top bars and huge flatscreen TVs viewable from any seat.

Just what the south side needs! Actually GOOD bar food and entrees, amazing selection of Irish and craft beers and friendly service to boot! The corned beef sandwich with Gruyère cheese was delicious with sweet potato fries. Washed it all down with a Lagunitas Little Sumpin’ Sumpin’ draft. Life, my friends, is good. You have to check them out!
