Well this place deserves their 4 stars(given by me) to be bumped to 5. My only company(on the past) was that their restroom was nasty and had a speaker blasting some very loud music. I just uploaded a video of their restroom and as you can see it is VERY clean and no blasting music. Additionally, Food is still great! I Always have the greek salad with chicken and my fiancée has the greek salad with gyro. Finally, we always ask for the avocado hummus with puta bread which is delicious.

I do the Greek salad at this place often. Excellent salad and very reasonably priced. They throw in some stuffed grape leaves which is a nice touch. Highly recommend.

Excellent service and food; my family and I had the chicken souvlaki, Avalon platter, lentil soup, falafels and a chicken wrap. All tasted great and they have gluten free wraps which is a huge plus for me. The cashier was knowledgeable and super sweet, she also brought our food very quickly to the table for us. My only gripe is they use Styrofoam for their plates, bowls and cups, I wish it was paper or at least something that biodegrades. Overall, I would eat here again and highly recommend.

In town on travel from Texas and happened to find this little gem through Unilocal! The chicken souvlaki was amazing and the price point is perfect. I highly recommend avalon pockets to anyone travelling to Orlando. If you live in Orlando and haven’t tried it yet you should.

First time here and the manager was very welcoming. I enjoyed his help and sense of humor. He explained to me what was in the entrees and accommodated towards my allergies. I thought the atmosphere was great, everyone was pleasant to talk too. He assured me the food is coming up. I ordered the falafel and chicken souvlaki which were both 5.99 and if you add $ 1, it comes with fries and a drink. My total was $ 13.26. There are three types of hummus served here, avocado, sundried tomatoes, spinach hummus, and HIDDEN secretly is the black bean hummus which is not on the menu for $ 4.99. The manager treated me with a sample plater of his hummus’ with pita chips, it was amazing and filling! I only ate half of the chicken souvlaki, the portion is more than enough! I admire this place. I strongly recommend this place, give it a try! It wont break your budget! I will be coming back here

Ever since they’ve been under new management, their approach to customer service and the taste of their food is questionable at best. Previously, I always got the same thing and came several times a week — a falafel combo that comes with fries along with a side of pita chips and a small hummus. Now they’re telling me that I can’t have a small hummus with my small pita chip side, but must pay several extra dollars for a full container. The last time I went, they forgot to give me a drink with my combo and questioned me when I asked for it. I’d also like to mention they were skimping on the fries the last few times I went too. I never throw a fit when I go, so I know it’s nothing personal. Needless to say, this place will never get another dollar from me.

Ok so been here before but didn’t do a review. This place has seen better days. First time tasting a falafel but it wasn’t great. I got the lunch special for a dollar more(wrap with fries and a drink). Complaints: took 15 mins to make, couldn’t change a fountain drink for a bottled water even though they are the same price, meal was dry, little to no taziki sauce on wrap, people in the back were talking more than cooking, I asked the cashier for silverware and she seemed bothered to get it. Just all in all, better skipped than gone. Not again anytime soon.

I usually go to Olympia or brave the traffic and go to Greek Flame on restaurant row. I decided to try something closer to home. I had heard great things about this place. The problem was that the gyro I ordered was very small and they didn’t give much French Fries on the side. I am accustomed to much larger portions. I decided to try this place again. The second time the portions were once again small. But in addition the gyro meat was served cold. Some pieces were warm, but it was mixed in temperature. I have never come across these issues at any other restaurant of this type. It made me sad because the location is so perfect. The people there are always friendly. Perhaps with some kind feedback they will make some improvements. But I doubt I will ever return here.

Great service and the food came very quickly. Loved the family-owned feel. I had the grilled chicken wrap and pita chips, which were both great. The pita chips were fresh and well seasoned. Will definitely come back!

A lil treasure. This truly is a mom and pop place. But it’s in a very nice area in Avalon Park where I live. A simple in and out shop, but the quality of the food is top notch. Everything is homemade and using family recipes from the middle east. The owner Mamdu is from Egypt originally, but lived in NYC for decades. He is a really nice and hospitable man and you can tell right away he cares about his customers the way he interacts with them. And he was a former EPA agent, so you know the food is fresh and clean! The falafel is amazing. By far the best ive ever had and I have been around the world including the middle east. My clients from Iran and Iraq who visit me, I took them here and they were surprised how authentic the food was and they agreed with me, pretty badass falafel! I also enjoy the kabobs and kuftas, the rice is perfect, and you can always depend on the gyros. I made a suggesstion to Mamdu to get better filtered water for his machines. he didn’t get upset or anything, he took suggesstion seriously, and the next week I came in he remembered me right away and told me he already contacted his distributor to improve the water. Impressive. If you’re near Waterford, avalon park area, and craving mediterranean or middle eastern food, Avalon Pockets should be first on your list.

We get the chicken soulvaki almost every week. I love adding pickles and garlic mayo. So juicy and filling. With a side of fries of course. My brother in law always get the gyro and it never disappoints. Very happy with the food. :-)

I visit here once per month and order the gyro and chicken pita. Both choices are recommended. Service is friendly and food is extremely tasty. I can eat two pitas in one sitting so for a growing man you may need to order two in order to be full.

I will never set foot in this place again. I am furious. After work I decided to take my wife and young daughters to Chiles when we decided to try Avalon pockets. We used to eat there almost weekly when the previous owners were there. We walked in at 8:42 p.m., and the owner told us they were closed. I told him the sign said they close at 9, and he very rudely sighed, rolled his eyes and asked«ok, what do you want? What do you want? » it told him nevermind, I can get gyros somewhere else. Nevertheless, we ended up eating down the road at milanos, where we were greeted in a friendly manner and welcomed. Avalon pockets can keep their food and horribly nasty service and attitude. I’m pretty disgusted.

My visit was about a month back. I remember braving 45 minutes of traffic to get here, but I won’t blame it on ‘em :) Just a run-of-the-mill Greek/Arabic/Mediterranean spot, a bit small inside. The guy manning the cash register was friendly. I got the falafel wrap with a side of tabbouleh and my girlfriend got the gyro and fries combo. I liked my meal. The falafel was tasty with a nice crunch. My tabbouleh was a bit on the acidic side… I don’t know if that’s typical for all tabbouleh but I enjoyed it nonetheless. My gf’s gyro, however, was a bit unsatisfying. The gyro itself was smaller than we’re used to having and we both thought it tasted bland. The fries were pretty forgettable. If I were in the area with nothing else open, I’d dip in for a quick bite, but only then and no other time.

Great food, great friendly service! I love everything about this place! A new local favorite. Great gyros and falafel! All the ‘greek’ dishes, moussaka and grape leaves are fantastic!

I decided to give this place a second chance as the first time I visited I did not have a great experience. After reading some of the other reviews it appears that they have changed ownership which in my opinion is for the better. When I arrived I was nicely greeted by a gentleman who I assume is the owner. I reviewed the menu and decided to get the Almond Rice. Since I have never tried this particular dish I wasn’t sure what to expect but I was willing to be adventurous. I decided to take my order to go so I waited probably about 10 minutes before my dish was completed. You’re probably wondering what is Allmond rice. Well it is a lot of rice mixed with bits of chicken, almonds and peanuts and different Mediterranean spices. It is served with a side of freshly made Taboule, two fresh pieces of kibbeh and a side of Tzatziki sauce. I didn’t know what to expect because the last time I visited the food was not great at all but I was so surprised after my first bite! I haven’t had Taboule this good since leaving home where there is a huge Lebanese and Greek community. The Kibbeh was cooked perfectly. It even had pine nuts inside so this is the real deal. It’s pairs nicely with the homemade Tzatziki sauce. Now how do I describe the rice? It’s not your typical rice dish. It has a very nutty and hearty flavor which is a good thing. They gave so much that I literally have enough rice for the next three days! Their menu consists of several different Greek menu items from salads to Gyros, chicken Slovaki, hummus etc and desserts. Since I didn’t stay to eat inside I’m not sure whether or not they serve beer and wine. They do have approximately 8 to 10 tables with chairs and the TV so you can bring the family and sit and watch TV. It’s truly a family-style restaurant. They have daily specials that appear to be pretty reasonably priced. I’m really happy that I decided to get this place a second chance. I will definitely be back to take advantage of the specials.

I love Avalon Pockets. They have the best falafel in town. The owner is so pleasant. Prices are good and they have lunch combos. Do yourself a favor: Get some fries and dip them in their house-made ketchup. All ketchup needs to taste like this. Oh my goodness.
