This place is poorly named. It’s definitely a sports bar, with a different — albeit dissapointing — menu. There are some good looking things on the menu, but they haven’t panned out for us. The«soft pretzel» was so drowned in butter or grease as to be ridiculous, and was served with what I think was ez cheese from a can. I’m not knocking ez cheese, but with the amount of grease on the bread, it was over the top. I asked for a martini(hey, it’s a «eurobistro»), ordered it «up» and got it in a rocks glass, and dirty. I don’t mean dirty as in with olive juice, I mean the glass was dirty. This happened twice in a row, after having a conversation about what an up martini is(basically, it’s in a martini glass). The place was certainly understaffed, but then again there were like 5 people there.

I’d give this place a better review if they weren’t completely understaffed each and every time I’ve been there. It’s so understaffed that it makes total sense for them to offer 2−4−1 drink specials everyday(which they do). It’s a decent meeting spot for a large group of people to drink & gab, and they have a full food menu. I’d prefer a place a little less casual but I guess we are talking about downtown Orlando.

I walked into this joint yesterday after walking by and seeing big screens at the bar. Felt like watching a game while I ate, and didn’t expect much. In fact, I expected pub food. The food served on Brix’ menu has the look and feel of a TGI Friday’s, but upon closer inspection you’ll notice that there’s a bit more flair, and I’m not talking about 17 pieces of flair. Pretty good selection of entrées. I selected the Inside Out Burger, which is a huge burger patty stuffed with bacon, cheddar cheese, topped with lettuce tomato and on a pretzel roll(the pretzel roll is the reason I ordered it, I love pretzel rolls). I must say I enjoyed the burger. It was served with waffle fries, which were also good. I also drank four coronas and the bill, with tax, was $ 21. How the hell is this possible? Since $ 21 is waaaay under my company limit for dinner, I ordered shots for everyone around me, including the bartenders. I had a good time at Brix and I will definitely go back.

2 for 1 Miller Lite Happy Hour All Day Long plus Wine, Wells, and Calls & and all Draft Beer! This was a new downtown bar for me. I was invited for the Co-Lab party. I did not get to try the food but the drinks were perfect :) not to mention they have that crushed ice that’s like little pellets. It’s close to everything downtown. Start your night here when you on ready to party!

Decisions, decisions… When your server gives you the hook up to try to make up for a substandard experience, does that effect your review? I’m going to be 100% honest here because that’s just the kind of Unilocaler I am. A group of One Brick Orlando volunteers helped out at Relay for Life last night and decided to celebrate our fantastic work by stopping downtown for drinks. While the plan was to go to Wall St., we were looking for a spot with less chaos than the craziness of the Styx? Eddie Money? fundraising event going on and wandered over to Brix. Ambiance: If you like to people watch, Brix is a great spot. Grab a corner table inside the window, as it’s much easier to make fun of drunk passersby when they’re not puking next to your table by 10pm(true story). You also have quite a diverse cross-section of bars nearby so you’ll see a variety of girls that don’t work at Mako’s but look like they’re on the way to a shift, wannabe rap stars, punk rockers, and preppy frat brats. Crowd: I don’t know if we scared everyone off, or Brix was just a pre-drink spot on the way to hit the more hardcore bars, but the place was pretty empty. By 11pm we were the only group left in the bar. Even when we walked in, there were maybe 10 other customers at a time tops. Drinks: Meh. I tried one of their $ 4 ladies night specials. It was supposed to be ‘twisted tea’ but they ran out of fresh mint, and apparently, vodka and tea. It tasted like a very watered down can of Arizona, and that’s pretty bad coming from me. The stronger the drink, the more sugary the mixers necessary. I switched to a(proud moment for our Unilocal Community Manager) cider ½ way through the first drink, but see below to find out why I didn’t bother finishing it. Service: I get it– it’s not the most fun activity working in an empty bar or restaurant. And hey, it’s fun to flirt with the DJ. When your only customers order a round of drinks and some food, though, I mean… the flirting can wait. There’s no reason to have to ask for a drink 3x’s before you get it when you’re the only 5 guests in a bar. There’s also no reason to wait an hour for a ‘pizza.‘ That being said, the waitress was very nice. She also went out of her way to make up for the service itself with some drink specials reflected on our tab, but I promise, I’m still tipping for the service I get, not the price of the drinks. It definitely helped getting a hookup, especially for this review. I gave Brix an extra star for the attempt to redeem the service, but that still only earned it 2 stars in my book. Food: We ordered ‘buffalo chicken pizza’- which was made of a tortilla(not kidding), chicken fingers from Publix, and some hot sauce. It was supposed to be the best pizza they had, and any bar serving food after 6pm on a weekend is a strike of luck. I tried to give them credit for even having food, really, I did. But on a tortilla? Ew. That’s a flat burrito, not a pizza. With the long wait, I thought maybe they were making the dough from scratch– hahahahaha I’m so silly. I’m always willing to give second chances, but it’s going to take a lot to redeem Brix for me. I’ll let you know if my experience improves or gets worse next go around. Happy drinking!

Ok, so I HAVE to write an additional review here because I feel like my first experience that I Unilocaled about was unique and rare. Since then, I’ve been to Brix twice with the«feel good» first time was awesome attitude and both times it’s kind of been bad. First off all, the margaritas are HORRIBLE. I found that the only person who makes them delicious is the owner. I’ve had two waitresses make them for me two different times and they were terrible. Nothing compared to the first time. The spinach dip was still freakin delicious though. Service? Ugh. Both times — terrible. I realize I’m using that word a lot, but it’s the best I can do, well because it really was terrible. This past time I went to Brix, our waitress kept forgetting about us. I had to go up to the bar and ask her to please bring the drinks we ordered 20 minutes ago. Then Colleen B. had to ask her additionally too. I thought maybe the 2nd time I went was just a rare weird experience, but after my third not-so-hot experience, I’m guessing my first experience was just luck of the draw. Probably won’t go here again for food or happy hour — strictly drinks at night.

Brix and I have had a good relationship ever since it opened at its current location in 2008. It’s always been a solid 4 star place to go for lunch or a quick dinner. Appetizers are one of the highlights of a trip to Brix. The pretzel loaf is great and I always look forward to their fondue plates, which are perfect to share with 2 – 4 people. On Fridays they also have a free fondue plate per table from 4:30 to 7:30. Their sandwiches never disappont either. The thanksgiving sandwich is one of the best in town, but they have at least a dozen that I’d be happy to order. The stuffed burgers are also flat-out amazing. The gruyère stuffed burger is not to be missed, as even the biggest burger snobs will fall in love with the gooey cheese center. This all brings me to last night, when Brix left me feeling burned. They’ve recently expanded the menu and added 2-for-1 draft beer. It seemed like I couldn’t go wrong. The service however, was truly awful. Our fondue order was put in twice and still never managed to show up; that is until it showed up on our bill. The food all came out at different times and my entrée(new menu item, the stuffed pork chops) came out lukewarm and without the veggies on the side. When the veggies finally did come they were noticeably freezer burned and were quickly discarded. This was in addition to a dozen other screwups by the waitress(forgotten drinks, no refills, wrong checks, cursing out the kitchen staff). Brix has been good to me long enough that I’ll only knock them down to 3 stars. I really hope last night was an isolated incident and the new items on the menu end up working for them. Still, I can’t help but think they should just stick to their tried and true sandwiches and burgers.

I watched the Dolphins beat the Jets here during Monday night football. I was very impressed with this place. I was initially trying to get next door to Crooked Bayou for a Po’ Boy, but to my dismay, they were having a private party. Brix kind of reminds me of a typical Manhattan Sports Bar for some reason. Everything is clean, the TVs are huge, and the atmosphere is dark. I was thrilled to see that they have Cheeseburgers that are actually stuffed with cheese inside. I got the Gruyère/Swiss stuffed burger and it was fantastic. It really has to be tied for best burger I’ve had in Orlando with Johnny’s Fillin’ Station. It was extremely cheesy. I’m looking forward to trying the burger stuffed with Gorgonzola one day. I’m betting that’s even better than Gruyère. The burger comes with waffle fries. They have wings here although the wings are not on the menu. We tried a hybrid of Jamaican jerk wings and medium buffalo sauce wings. The wings were decent but I’ve had better. The beer specials are good, but not great. We got 5 Coors Lights for $ 12. I think I can’t drink light beer anymore because I had 10 Coors Lights in the end and didn’t feel any kind of pleasant buzz. Oh well… The bartenders were very friendly and it was overall a great place to enjoy Monday Night Football.

So the food at Brix is good — big and yummy salads, refreshing red and white sangria, good fondue(free during happy hour on Friday!). The cheap Sunday menu is nice too. Sadly, the service sucks. 20 minutes waiting for menus /water is not normal. This wasn’t just one experience — most times I’ve been there they’ve been understaffed or otherwise inattentive, and I’ve heard the same from others multiple times. So, I’ve stopped going, though I wish I didn’t have to.

this is where i go for my weekly mahi sammich. it’s a bit expensive, but it tastes amazing and has become somewhat of an addiction. i usually get it to go because they’re usually understaffed and as far as drinking goes, i have other bars to go to for that.

Great Sliders, pretzel bites, drinks!!! love this place. Free fondue is amazing too on Fridays! the bartenders really hook up the drinks too. i only had to pay for one of my 3 drinks! Best Bar in town to watch a gators game! get there early tough to find seat! service great despite how busy they get! BUCKETS !!! Fun for Magic games, fights, etc. I have had a good time watching girls dance when it gets late in the night as well! You have to wait in line for their single stall bathroom but beats the cleo’s bathroom by millions! FUN fun fun yum yum

Went there for a gathering and found it to be extremely loud and bustling for a Thursday. The food I got was free — someone ordered the hamburgers and had an extra. Quite tasty and not too greasy which I liked. Their cheese fondue had slices of apples, bread and crackers which were good but I didn’t like the cheese and apples combo for myself. I didn’t drink but my friend Lisa did and she says they were a bit watered down. Uck!

New restaurants and shops pop up on a regular basis in Downtown Orlando, especially since the city started their efforts in revamping the area and making it appealing to a more mature, high-end kind of crowd. The idea was to make everything from living facilities such as condos and apartments, to restaurants and shopping areas more posh and modern. As a result, places like Brix Eurobistro have become a staple for those who live, work and frequent in the Downtown area. From what I can tell this restaurant is meant to be modern chic with a very posh feel to it. Both fondue and American cuisine are featured on their menu in addition to a quite vast wine list. As is usual for most downtown hot spots, they have pretty good food and drink specials throughout the week and especially on Friday nights. Their food, in my opinion is average in taste and presentation and bit too overdone as far selection goes. Their cheese fondue is okay. The burner either wasn’t hot enough to keep the cheese melted or wasn’t working properly because the cheese got really thick and gooey verses smooth and creamy very fast. Bread, apples and some other items came as dippers, but the bread just wasn’t sturdy enough to hold the thickened cheese and I’m not a fan of apples and melted cheese… personal preference I guess. As for the rest of the food, the sandwiches are all I’ve tried and, again, not the best I’ve had, but not the worst either. Both times that I’ve been here I felt somewhat overwhelmed by the menu and confused at the same. I think that they should stick to one type of cuisine, either fondue or American, and work on perfecting that verses trying to conquer so many different things. Service here isn’t bad. The waiters I had each time were good about refilling drinks and catering to everyone’s needs as best as they could. Prices aren’t too bad if you are lucky enough to catch a special, but can get pricey if you’re not careful. As far as wine goes, I was able to find a few that I liked and was also pleased with their selection of other drinks as well. The bartenders seemed good about making a drink if they didn’t feature it on their drink menu. Overall, not my favorite place to go to downtown, but I’d pop in again if a friend suggests it.

Brix kix ass! This place is in the old T Flats location at Central and Magnolia. I think the room is a big improvement. It’s small and cozy yet fun and lively and the high ceilings and large windows make it feel spacious. Great place to people watch and/or get out of the sun and suck down some suds. They have an amazing beer special: 12 Miller Lites for $ 10 all day every day. YES! The menu is diverse enough to keep it interesting. Small pizza, burgers, fish sandwiches, and… fondue! My mahi mahi sandwich was perfect. They have the crispiest waffle fries you’ll ever have in your life. Portions are a good size and prices are really fair. The staff is attractive females and there are flat screens everywhere. I’m not sure if they’re going for the sports bar crowd though. I need to go back when a football game isn’t on. They might tune into CNN, which would be acceptable by this reviewer. I’ll definitely return.

Remember three stars means A-OK, so that is exactly what it is. I just went on a Sunday afternoon after biking around downtown thinking where I wanted to eat. This obviously is prime football season, so there were a majority sportsfans in this place, but the food is somewhat different. Turkey and Brie, burgers stuffed with Gruyère, and other such items which balance out the chicken fingers and waffle fries make Brix different. Check it out for the food then worry about the atmosphere, because it is basically more decorated like a nice bar, than an actual budweiser sports bar. You may wonder why there is an extra star… say Hi to Elena(if she is still working when you are there), the coolest waitress around. She also, practically dragged me in off the street as she saw me stop and look at the menu. Thanks to her I have another option downtown. Two other points of interest: they have DJs on some nights, and they have their own clean bathrooms not the ones that Crooked Bayou and Sweet Bee have to deal with in the courtyard. Dafe

To my dismay, I’d have to say that my meal here wasn’t as enjoyable as I had hoped. But I would like to say it’s most likely because I asked for a substitution to one of their common menu items. Thus, it’s quite possible that it was my own fault it didn’t taste as yummy as I would have hoped. I can also say that my friend truly enjoyed his cheeseburger which also left me thinking it was my own error. The new location of this fun bar/restaurant will hopefully keep them busy. We happened to be there during happy hour on Friday and found the crowd fun and relaxed. So hopefully if you venture there, your experience will surpass mine!

Originally located across the street from Lake Eola, Brix moved it’s headquarters a few blocks to a more heavily trafficked Central Blvd. With the move came an expanded menu, larger digs, and a liquor license(yippee!). Brix, which is a wine term, offers an unexpectedly satisfying wine list. The food is somewhat light, offering a variety of sandwiches(ham & brie), wraps(southwestern), and flatbreads. The steak and gorgonzola flatbread is quite tasty, while the wraps leave something to be desired. Brix also offers burgers, salads, and some killer spinach dip and great fondue. The inside décor is pretty urban, especially compared to the Miami/European feel of the original location. The new Central location offers a nice downtown vibe and outdoor seating ideal for people watching. In my opinion, Brix just needs a little extra time to get their menu together and hopefully we can add a few stars to that mediocre rating.

Update: Brix closed last weekend. If you’re in the area, hit up Erik’s instead. Brix is a cute little bistro on the corner of Washington and Rosalind. I’m not crazy about their wine selection — it’s okay — but they have some nice European beers(Belgian white :), and they have free fondue night, which is *AWESOME*. In that case, definitely go for the free *wine* fondue, because the beer fondue was not so yummy. The wine fondue, however, I still have to sigh a wistful sigh for, in fond memory. :sigh: *_*
